The Rescue: Lesson 23 10/23/2021
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisHebrews 7:1-28 KJV
1 For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;
2 To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;
3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.
4 Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils.
5 And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:
6 But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises.
7 And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better.
8 And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth.
9 And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham.
10 For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him.
11 If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?
12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.
13 For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar.
14 For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.
15 And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest,
16 Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.
17 For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
18 For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.
19 For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.
20 And inasmuch as not without an oath he was made priest:
21 (For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:)
22 By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.
23 And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death:
24 But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.
25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
26 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;
27 Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.
28 For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.
The first known tithe was paid by Abraham to the High Priest Melchizedec after coming back from war. Lot, Abraham's nephew was capture and some women, and Abraham being family went in search and even fought for his kin. He took the spoils of war home, and meet up with High Priest Melchizedec who blessed Abraham and Abraham paid tithes to him. Melchizedec was consider to be like Jesus.
It almost has if Abraham was paying some type of tax because of the spoils he returned with. Christ being in the order not of Aaron but of Melchizedec. Why is this even important to know of Melchizedec, there was and is a priesthood that is a priesthood of the one true God, it not different from the God of Israel, but different in regards to purity.
One of the saddest days of Hebrew people was when Moses came off Mount Sinai after forty days and found the people bowing to the golden calf. An idol erected by Hebrew children in the wilderness, and Aaron had made it because of the mobs request of it, instead of standing his ground of faith in God. Aaron did not change faith, he changed his duties to become harlot before the nation of Israel. Then Aaron would continue the sacrifice once again for the God the Creator. Now Melchizedec made intercession for the people like Moses did.
Why is the history even important why not say Jesus is our intercessor for today, because there is said to be one other before Jesus on earth. There was time God walked and talked with man on earth. God definitely more then once talked to Abraham, God even prophecized he would have a son by Sarah. Even told Abraham about the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah to come. Read the storys in Genesis of Abraham talking to God/Lord/Jehovah.
Abraham not of the family line of Melchizedec by human birth but by spiritual birth. Meaning he honor this man as being High Priest of the one true God. What does this all mean, we are subject to Christ as priest, but also that he is Lord. That he is our intercessor as the HOly Spirit makes also intercession for us that believe.
Jesus being a far better priesthood, because he is directly from the Creator. The Old Priesthood done away with. The priesthood of man abolished. Old Priesthood first had to pay for his own sins, and then the sins of the world. Christ was concentrated for this service to be offered up to God for remission of our sins. Christ never broke the law of God only the law of man. If we can tell the difference of sin and no sin, we find ourselves with knowledge that Christ never failed God. Priesthood of Aaron was made because of carnal law, but Christ was made for the law endless life.
IF one can not get the fact that original sin separated us from God has been done away with upon receiving Jesus as Lord and Savior. Jesus being of the priest of endless life. The tenth Abraham gave was to the high Priest of endless life. To a priest that had power over endless life. His judgment on Sodom and Gomorrah, was about judgment. For Abraham took nothing from the King of Sodom, because he was priest of law but also main reason, he did not want it said that the King of Sodom made him rich. The king Sodom was not a believer or did he pay tithe to the one true God. One must remember Sodom eventually would be judged. Lot chose to live in Sodom but when he was dragged out of there by angels, he and his family were saved out of the hands of evil and corruption. Abraham could take nothing from a corrupt country that is brother son lived in, but he did align himself in protection of his nephew when he was kidnapped from the land of Sodom. More then Lot was rescued including women. This gift of Sodom would of been a type of treaty with culture Abraham did not agree with, because they served not God.
Now to understand two laws one law of carnal which is what King of Sodom ruled by and the the law of eternal life which Melichizedec ruled by. Two laws one the earth and one of God alone. Which is greater the law of eternal life. The rescue for Lot was made because he was a child of the law of eternal life. That law of faith. Does this seem confusing, trust me, until you can wrap your head around the truth of two laws, and Christ/the word coming in the flesh and showing us the incorruptible flesh being the law of eternal life through faith, through repentance, and through receive Christ work on the cross for our sins. It is hard to take it all in, so small bites are necessary for mankind. Christ being of the priesthood of Melchizedec and not carnal law as the Hebrew Priest laws were. Christ being the law of endless life.
Dear Heavenly Father, you are the great I Am, you are the Creator, the God of eternal life, The God that redeems and rescues us to have eternal life. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

17 And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings that were with him, at the valley of Shaveh, which is the king's dale.

19 And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:
20 And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.
21 And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself.
22 And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth,
23 That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich:
24 Save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men which went with me, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their portion.
Genesis 19:12-20 KJV
12 And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place:
13 For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent us to destroy it.
14 And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law.
15 And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.
16 And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.
17 And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.
18 And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my Lord:
19 Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die:
20 Behold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live.
