The Rescue: Lesson 22
10/22/2021

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Genesis 41:28-57 KJV
28 This is the thing which I have spoken unto Pharaoh: What God is about to do he sheweth unto Pharaoh.
29 Behold, there come seven years of great plenty throughout all the land of Egypt:
30 And there shall arise after them seven years of famine; and all the plenty shall be forgotten in the land of Egypt; and the famine shall consume the land;
31 And the plenty shall not be known in the land by reason of that famine following; for it shall be very grievous.
32 And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.
33 Now therefore let Pharaoh look out a man discreet and wise, and set him over the land of Egypt.
34 Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint officers over the land, and take up the fifth part of the land of Egypt in the seven plenteous years.
35 And let them gather all the food of those good years that come, and lay up corn under the hand of Pharaoh, and let them keep food in the cities.
36 And that food shall be for store to the land against the seven years of famine, which shall be in the land of Egypt; that the land perish not through the famine.
37 And the thing was good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of all his servants.
38 And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is?
39 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art:
40 Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou.
41 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt.
42 And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph's hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck;
43 And he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried before him, Bow the knee: and he made him ruler over all the land of Egypt.
44 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I am Pharaoh, and without thee shall no man lift up his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt.
45 And Pharaoh called Joseph's name Zaphnathpaaneah; and he gave him to wife Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On. And Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt.
46 And Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh, and went throughout all the land of Egypt.
47 And in the seven plenteous years the earth brought forth by handfuls.
48 And he gathered up all the food of the seven years, which were in the land of Egypt, and laid up the food in the cities: the food of the field, which was round about every city, laid he up in the same.
49 And Joseph gathered corn as the sand of the sea, very much, until he left numbering; for it was without number.
50 And unto Joseph were born two sons before the years of famine came, which Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On bare unto him.
51 And Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh: For God, said he, hath made me forget all my toil, and all my father's house.
52 And the name of the second called he Ephraim: For God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction.
53 And the seven years of plenteousness, that was in the land of Egypt, were ended.
54 And the seven years of dearth began to come, according as Joseph had said: and the dearth was in all lands; but in all the land of Egypt there was bread.
55 And when all the land of Egypt was famished, the people cried to Pharaoh for bread: and Pharaoh said unto all the Egyptians, Go unto Joseph; what he saith to you, do.
56 And the famine was over all the face of the earth: And Joseph opened all the storehouses, and sold unto the Egyptians; and the famine waxed sore in the land of Egypt.
57 And all countries came into Egypt to Joseph for to buy corn; because that the famine was so sore in all lands.

God's provision was not Almanac but through a dream he gave to Pharaoh. Joseph was in prison when the Pharaoh had the dream. Joseph was remember by the Chief Bulter who spent a short period in prison where Joseph was. The Chief Butler of Pharaoh and the baker had a dreams concerning their future that was interpret correctly. The baker died by hanging and Chief Butler would return to place of service in the Palace. The dream that Pharoah had troubled him enough, that he sought more interpretation when his own magicians could not give him an answer to the purpose of the dream. Chief Butler recommend he speak to Joseph.

Joseph came before the Pharaoh, he told Joseph the dream. Joseph interpret the dream. Yesterday we talked about Noah and God's provision for Noah because he was going to destroy the world because of evil. Despite Pharaoh beliefs God was fixing to use a leader to do his work and will to protect the people in Egypt as well as surrounding regions. It would be over a fourteen year span before the whole prophesy would be proven to be true.

Why God used Egypt was perhaps because of its power and ability to perform such a feet as gathering enough harvest to feed so many people. When we look at our own nation and places around the world, God uses large countries to help the world. God used a kingdom that was not his kingdom. He used a dream to be solved by Joseph, a Hebrew man that was a child of his, to interpret the Pharaoh dream. Then he use Joseph to rule in Egypt to carry and rule over this special task ordained by God. Pharoah had fear of God though he probably was not a worshipper of him, because he accept the interpretation of Joseph. God using evidence as a wake up call to Pharaoh of who he was, though no evidence he ever worshipped God. God was in control of all situations even down to provision to carry out the needs of the people.

Prehaps many farmers look at the Almanac to see when the best time to plant a garden or field should be, only to have a bad drought year or to much rain year. Those farmers that prayed and look to the signs God gives man for planting in the moon and stars, and planting accordingly, with thanksgiving in their heart may receive a crop they had not expect to make it with the worse season of weather. It makes no since at times what God does to help the farmer. Yet we know his provision is for a purpose and when a crop is taken away, there is a purpose in that as well. When farmers have to search for work elsewhere there is a reason for that as well.

Those of us that live in towns and cities that rely heavily on the market as food source often forget how much hard work goes into the harvest of crops and butcher of animals. How much provision is in those fields of harvest. During the pandemic God still provided food for the people despite the fact grocery shelves were empty at times. What it shows is God's provision for his people and for our nation as well as for countries all over the world, despite this crisis. When we think God no longer in control of a situation look out because God is still in control, He is going to accomplish his purpose for our lives, we have to trust in his will. When you look at the story of ark and realize the evil God destroyed, we have to ask why would a man made disease be so deadly and so destructive, because man tries to emulate God wrath with their own hate and anger. God is still in control.

God is still in control of all situations, but do we trust in him to do his will? Do we allow dreams to come and go to say perhaps it only a dream, only to discover it has real meaning. If God is warning, then God has a purpose, and we need to listen. If God's speaking solely by his Spirit and not in dreams, we need to listen. If God is speaking to our leaders they better listen to him as well. We can not fear tomorrow, as believers, we have to trust and do as the ants, sparrows and bees do, by storing food provision as he taught them, knowing God that created them provides for them as well. The latest news on the pandemic there been announced that there is a new strain of the virus and no there is no vaccine for it at this time. We heard those words before and we know what we must do, take heed and take percaustions. Trust in the one that can destroy what we can not until God gives science a solution to the problem or removes this deadly disease.

Joseph must of been excited to be apart of God's plan, but he also had to deal with the devils taunting of the reality of these events. I do not doubt even with his faith, he knew if seven years past and no famine came after he was definitely in trouble. Reliance on God was key hear. He had to be persuaded in all truth of what he spoke about the dream he interpreted for Pharaoh. God does love the people of the world. He loved enough to use even the gentile nations to do his will for the good of the people.

I was wanting an onion yesterday when in the store, and did not see the type I wanted, but when I got home and turned on the news, I was glad I did not buy onion because there was recall on them. Does God take care of his children, I believe he still does. What is God doing individually and corporately in the lives of the saints and in the lives of the gentiles. He is given them evidence of his power to control, to heal, to solve solution and some of those solution have a designated time period. For the dream interpretation would be for a period of fourteen years. Fourteen years is a long time for prophesy to be fulfilled but it was not the longest prophesy in scripture or to date for Christ return.

Dear Heavenly Father, you are the God of all the earth who cares for the people of the world and not just believers. You open the doors and flood gates of protection for the children of the world, even when they understand not, that you truly are providing for them. Thank you Lord for your provision when times are difficult. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Acts 2:16-21 KJV
16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:
20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:
21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
