The Rescue: Lesson 20
10/20/2021

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Daniel 3:1-30 KJV
1 Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, whose height was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof six cubits: he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon.
2 Then Nebuchadnezzar the king sent to gather together the princes, the governors, and the captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, to come to the dedication of the image which Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
3 Then the princes, the governors, and captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, were gathered together unto the dedication of the image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up; and they stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up.
4 Then an herald cried aloud, To you it is commanded, O people, nations, and languages,
5 That at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king hath set up:
6 And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth shall the same hour be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.
7 Therefore at that time, when all the people heard the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and all kinds of musick, all the people, the nations, and the languages, fell down and worshipped the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
8 Wherefore at that time certain Chaldeans came near, and accused the Jews.
9 They spake and said to the king Nebuchadnezzar, O king, live for ever.
10 Thou, O king, hast made a decree, that every man that shall hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, shall fall down and worship the golden image:
11 And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth, that he should be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.
12 There are certain Jews whom thou hast set over the affairs of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; these men, O king, have not regarded thee: they serve not thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
13 Then Nebuchadnezzar in his rage and fury commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Then they brought these men before the king.
14 Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, do not ye serve my gods, nor worship the golden image which I have set up?
15 Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?
16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.
17 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.
18 But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
19 Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated.
20 And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace.
21 Then these men were bound in their coats, their hosen, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.
22 Therefore because the king's commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
23 And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.
24 Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king.
25 He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.
26 Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spake, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth, and come hither. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, came forth of the midst of the fire.
27 And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king's counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.
28 Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king's word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.
29 Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort.
30 Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, in the province of Babylon.

King of Babylon, King Nebuchadnezzar desire the people worship a god he created to the point that people would bow and worship him, if they did not they would be thrown in the fiery furnace. These three Jews, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego called before the king and questioned why they would not bow to the statue. They said simply that they believe that their God would rescue them if thrown in the fire. Now it takes faith if you know the king will throw you into a fiery furnace with no question ask because you would not obey him.

Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego was thrown in the fire, which was extra hot and killed those that threw them into the furnace because of the heat. The heat so hot that the forth man in the fire walked around with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. The forth man by scholars is said to be Jesus. When the fire cooled the king inquired if they were still alive and he went to see for himself when they said four men were there in the fire. Three came out of the fire that day, And then the king declared all people were to worship the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego.

What the point the rescue came with God's redeeming grace. How many of us today would declare such a thing, we know that one fiery pit would either take us to be home with Jesus or one fiery pit we be protected and comforted by our God. God does not abandon his people, but many have died to being burnt at the stake, and eaten by lions. How come this one event these men did not die. It was so God's glory could be demonstrated so that those of Babylon could worship him. Remember time was coming when Jews would be released from exile and God's name would be proclaimed to the heathens of the land of Babylon. Devil is even released to do wonders and miracles to deceive the world only to be destroyed by God. God was allowing the deception through Maryterism.

Everywhere God's people went his name was glorified. And everywhere Jesus walked on earth, some still did not believe nor receive miracles done by him. What wrong with the picture. Nothing, people have a hard time believing in miracles even done before them. To many people question how can this be so. Even when Lazarus was raised from the dead, the people went to Jerusalem to tell the Priesthood. No one believed. It a miracle that people believed after Christ resurrection, but he spent time with the disciples to help any unbelief they had as well as others. God desires us to have faith, but what caused Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego to have such faith. Perhaps because they were friends of Daniel, perhaps it has to do with the miracles of faith on the road to Babylon or time spent under the king of the land with Jews claiming their faith. Whatever their personal story it was enough to say King I will not worship your idol, and if you throw me in the pit it okay, because God will be there.

There is one pit that God will not be there and that is the fiery furnace that the devil and angels are tossed into. The fiery pit because he would not bow to God or change his ways. Does the story sound the same, perhaps, but something to note, God's people are shown to be serving a victorious God in the end. His people protected in the storms of life. There is time that will come that scorpions will bite and not harm us. That the fires will burn and we walk through it. Fire fighters walk through fires everyday, but some are still to hot. This will be a unique time for believer to testify of the goodness and glory of God in the presents of the enemy. To experience no harm coming to us, as we watch others suffer, will be tremendous to even our own hearts. This time will be cut short.

Let us rest in in God's grace, and let us reach out to the lost, knowing time on earth grows even shorter as the day goes by. Let us rescue those perishing by sharing about Jesus, so they can at least hear how to be saved. Before they can no longer repent or desire to repent. Let us grab hold of the lost.

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to be a part of your rescue team, to know time grows dim, tell your people called by your name will walk through fire and be bitten, but not harmed. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Revelation 9:1-6 KJV
1 And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.
2 And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.
3 And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.
4 And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.
5 And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man.
6 And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.
