The Rescue: Lesson 19 10/19/2021
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisIsaiah 51:1-23 KJV
1 Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the LORD: look unto the rock whence ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged.
2 Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him.
3 For the LORD shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the LORD; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.
4 Hearken unto me, my people; and give ear unto me, O my nation: for a law shall proceed from me, and I will make my judgment to rest for a light of the people.
5 My righteousness is near; my salvation is gone forth, and mine arms shall judge the people; the isles shall wait upon me, and on mine arm shall they trust.
6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner: but my salvation shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished.
7 Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be ye afraid of their revilings.
8 For the moth shall eat them up like a garment, and the worm shall eat them like wool: but my righteousness shall be for ever, and my salvation from generation to generation.
9 Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the LORD; awake, as in the ancient days, in the generations of old. Art thou not it that hath cut Rahab, and wounded the dragon?
10 Art thou not it which hath dried the sea, the waters of the great deep; that hath made the depths of the sea a way for the ransomed to pass over?
11 Therefore the redeemed of the LORD shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away.
12 I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass;
13 And forgettest the LORD thy maker, that hath stretched forth the heavens, and laid the foundations of the earth; and hast feared continually every day because of the fury of the oppressor, as if he were ready to destroy? and where is the fury of the oppressor?
14 The captive exile hasteneth that he may be loosed, and that he should not die in the pit, nor that his bread should fail.
15 But I am the LORD thy God, that divided the sea, whose waves roared: The LORD of hosts is his name.
16 And I have put my words in thy mouth, and I have covered thee in the shadow of mine hand, that I may plant the heavens, and lay the foundations of the earth, and say unto Zion, Thou art my people.
17 Awake, awake, stand up, O Jerusalem, which hast drunk at the hand of the LORD the cup of his fury; thou hast drunken the dregs of the cup of trembling, and wrung them out.
18 There is none to guide her among all the sons whom she hath brought forth; neither is there any that taketh her by the hand of all the sons that she hath brought up.
19 These two things are come unto thee; who shall be sorry for thee? desolation, and destruction, and the famine, and the sword: by whom shall I comfort thee?
20 Thy sons have fainted, they lie at the head of all the streets, as a wild bull in a net: they are full of the fury of the LORD, the rebuke of thy God.
21 Therefore hear now this, thou afflicted, and drunken, but not with wine:
22 Thus saith thy Lord the LORD, and thy God that pleadeth the cause of his people, Behold, I have taken out of thine hand the cup of trembling, even the dregs of the cup of my fury; thou shalt no more drink it again:
23 But I will put it into the hand of them that afflict thee; which have said to thy soul, Bow down, that we may go over: and thou hast laid thy body as the ground, and as the street, to them that went over.
God calling to his children in verse 1-6 we can gather several things from these verse, Eden is desolate. Paradise abandon. Eden a garden a place God dwelled, a place God kicked Adam and Eve from because of sin. God's calling to Abraham to go to the promise land. A land given to Abraham and his family by the Cananites, a land promised by God and he directing Abraham to this place/habitation. Then these two place would be destroyed and abandon and lay desolate. Only for God to call to his people to rise up his people to become leaders in communities to teach the laws of God. Verses 7-9 talks about the destruction of the harlot Rehab and wounding of the dragon. What does verse 9 really mean in regards to wounding of the harlot. Who is the harlot to God, anyone that is not a believer in God and dragon often symobolized as Egypt but it more metaphorically represents a different government/leadership of perhaps abuse in nature being wounded. Many governments across the world have changed over the last fifty years I been alive, yet change has even been greater as the centuries of time have changed the world, with God's law in government, but not always godly people in government. It takes two things for God to arise in government and that is belief in God and the second for people to desire to obey the rules of God. If our laws are being removed from our nation then the devil is in power. If the laws of God are being enforced then God is arising in power in the government. Then we have to define what is a godly law, it begins with love, but it also ends and begins with justice given. Where there is no justice there is no love of God or his ways present in the lives of bullies.
When we see in our world abuse of people no matter the religion, color of skin, or finances, the government is making an error not correcting the problem. Meaning some point bullying of governments, political and non government has to end. There is a day coming where it will end, why because simply the fact God will be the one to tear it down and even wound it. One of the most heart wrenching story online the other day was a paraplegic that was drag out of a car because he refused to get out of the car. Police brutality or did I miss something in the video. Let us not forget a cop even tazzed the man as well. I seen the article and wonder what is our world coming too when a man that can not walk is driving car and is pulled over and then told to get out, but he can't because he needs assistance to do so, and as the article I read the cops caused injury to his already injured back again. What made the situation worse when the police dragged him from the car. Now I believe we need good cops not bullies. We need cops that can do the job they are hired to do, and I also believe that good cops are not paid enough, but for one to betray the uniform and have others betray their uniform it is the subject.
These problems go on around the world and our government fights against these things most of the time, but not always. God wants not to just wound the dragons of society, but to destroy them. Dragon meaning evil intend and action. Putting away the ring leaders of violence, destruction, and evil desires. There been kings and leaders that only sought to torture and injure people for centuries. These leaders rise up and then take a hard fall. When countries and governments fight for equality, anti bullying, anti abuse in our nations and in the world. we fight against those powers that cause these abuse like drugs and mind control. When our world fights against things that corrupt the mind, cause halluciations, altering one thinking and work to help people deal with reality, then they are fighting to protect people well being and keep them safe from those that would wish them harm. The dragon being metaphoric will rise up and fall periodically until God permanently locks him away.
God allows the rising and falling of the enemy why, to teach his people, to teach the believer the option of godly laws, and rules. To teach his people the opposition to obedience to his way. That when people called by his name become evil, they to will be punished, or cast out of the Holy city, Zion. Verses 10 though the rest of the chapter we get the victory of God coming forth back into land not only Israel but into the world. It took the rise of Hilter to understand the sickness can still arise in the world of pure evil. It took the rise of Stalin to know these things, and many other rulers has well. One being Ivan the Terrible. Do we in America have bad corrupt leaders, the answer is yes. Without the enforcement of our laws a corrupt leader can rise up in our nation, if those in our nation who enforce the laws do not have to obey them. When we face leaders that if they break the laws in America, they are only just smacked by the media, then we failed to see equality even in the political world with those people they serve. Everyone gets angry, and everyone do have bad day, but lets keep equality in place.
When God arise the people return to their homeland. When did Israel go home, when the enemy was destroyed. The Gulf Wars are only a small picture of a problem that has risen for decades in the Middle East. Is this the coming of Christ, it the coming of prophetic word, but it is not necessarily the coming of the Son of God in his glory once more. There is two ways Christ returns in our world, one through word and God's Spirit and the other with the coming of Christ in his heavenly body, a body that will not see decay. If you watch terminator a few dozen times, the terminator body is pierced but not destroyed. I do not think Christ new body is destructible. Not when his comes again, will we fully realize what it means to be taken up to meet him as believers and see the destruction of the old heaven and old earth until that day. The final ending of the world as we know it. Man might be like grass, but those that are saved and made righteous by the blood of Jesus will see the destruction of the world as we know it and the new heaven and new earth descending. A new place to live where the light of Christ rules for eternity. The harlot being no more, in the since of idolatry, only the worship of God and Christ remain. The light of God ruling in the city of Zion, the New Jerusalem. With the sons and daughters ruling and leading right beside God around the new heaven and earth. The dragon cast out forever more.
Dear Heavenly Father we wait for the day the dragon is cast out of the earth forever, we hold to the promise of Christ return with his physical seeable body transformed into its heavenly body. We wait for the day your destroy the bullies of the world. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
Continual Scripture Study: Revelation 20:1-15 KJV
1 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,
8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.
10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
