The Rescue: Lesson 18 10/18/2021
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisLuke 10:17-24 KJV
17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.
18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.
21 In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.
22 All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.
23 And he turned him unto his disciples, and said privately, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see:
24 For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.
If you ever watched a snake handler or a poisonous spider handler you know that these things are not something to play with. However When Jesus says the serpent and scorpions have no power over you what does this truly mean. Jesus went to the cross, died and an arose again. He first appears defeated to the world only to rise again. Grave could not hold Jesus. To think Satan and his angels will be cast into hell, only for hell to rise for the final judgment and cast in the fiery furnace. Hell apparently is not hot enough for final destruction of the enemy. If we stop for only a minute on these few verse we find that the believer has power over the enemy. This power the believer has is the power of eternal life through Christ Jesus. Our doorway is open to heaven, while Satan doorway is to hell and destruction. Even in our physical death we will not suffer a spiritual destruction. When people are healed by prayer, and demons flee by being cast out, then God's people knows their names are written down in heaven. I spoke on this maybe a month or two back. But this is the month of talking about evil. To talk about evil is to talk about the destruction of evil. To talk about the limit of power that evil has. We may face a human death, before Christ returns even at the power of the enemy, but we do not remain dead. Are bodies may go down into the grave but our Spirit is with Christ in heaven. Paul Claims to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.(Romans 8) Whether in the physical/spiritual presence of the Lord we are also present with his Spirit in this world.
From the death bed, or floor we are risen spiritually to be with Jesus, and from Spiritual birth Christ is in our hearts. Once we are reborn we are given given a new body, but when we are spiritually born again, we are transformed in the image of God's dear Son. We are reconciled with Jesus, we are transformed in the image of his Son. And then we are sanctified by the renewing our our minds, and Spirit through his word.
Two key things we must remember Satan transforms himself without the aid of God. Many people transform themselves into angels of light, doers of good, but are nothing but raging wolves in sheep clothing. The devil puts on a mask of righteousness but is not. He puts on a wooly white garment and underneath his garment is still covered with sin. He does a physical purification by a bath, but no spiritual cleansing took place by the only one that can cleanse the heart that is Christ Jesus. His bloods washes away our sins and purifies our hearts when we believe and receive him as Lord and Savior.
Beware of Satan and his angels dress in white appareil singing the hallelujah chorus, only to mimick the word of God except when it comes of speaking about Christ love for us, and God's love for us. It the psychologist with no spirituality that maybe speaks from a pulpit of feel good and look good mentality to aid the depressed, the weak with emotion struggles and no knowledge of how God can free one from the yoke of these burdens of depression, and hopelessness. When I say let Jesus transform you, I mean let God's word transform you, Let Christ work on the cross transform you. Let the price he paid for you and I transform you through repentance, and receiving him as Savior. The world is going to say be kind, be good and be helpful with no change in attitude behind the discourse of just say no and it be okay. Think happy thoughts, and be great. Change only lasting until the next storm or crisis because of discipline and no heart change. When I think of the crisis we women and men go through emotionally and mentally, the hang on to Jesus might seem weak, until you realize how strong Jesus is. If his foot stool is the earth and heaven his throne, and yet he fits in our heart, how strong is Jesus and how big is he. Focus on the purpose he died for us to redeem us out of the pit, out of the lies of the devil, and to strengthen us with his word and promises, through evidence even in our day. That he will return, that he is coming again. That the hurts of this world will pass way. That if we allow Christ to transform us by the renewing of our mind, but the healing of our minds and hearts.
Satan fell like lighten Christ said. If Satan can fall he can be defeated. To fall is not to manifest. God manifest his love through the birth of his only begotten Son, through his word and the word of prophesy. Satan fell, meaning he is not manifest by God, but manifest himself, transformed himself into angel of light to deceive the world. If we are then transformed by God into his children, then we only fell at the cross because of our sins that formed us into the likeness of the devil. So when God transformed us into his children, he did not put us in a new cloak and mask our appearance, but cleansed us from inside out. His word being sharper then any two edge sword to our heart, piercing us that we have sin against God and fallen short of his glory. With that knowledge we receive his word that transforms us into his children by confess of faith, confession of sin, and desire to obey God's word and to do the right thing because of his love that was manifested through his Son and the work on the cross for our sins. By Christ's Spirit we are born again by faith. Born and not only transformed, remade into the image of his Son. We just got our do over, to grow into the likeness of Christ. To learn to love, to be sanctified, to be renewed by his Spirit day by day and not just a one time event in our life, but a continual transformation, a molding as a potter molds a lump of clay. He takes our broken spirit, and our brokenness of our past and molds us into a work of art that shines for his glory. He takes the adultress woman and makes her into image of a child of God, a work of holiness and not a work of corruption or decay. A work done only by the hand of God. That the devil would like to give you a custume and make you look and act a certain way until you get back home.
I sure you remember growing up and being told you better behave you are going to such and such a place and if you do not mind your manners, you are going to be in big trouble. In fact you were even told not to be yourself in not so many words, instead act like an angel. God takes us as we are transforming us. His transformation is not a custume of look good, behave right and dress right for the occasion, but a makeover, from the inside out so we no longer desire the way we were. Do you long for your sinful past, because you wearing sheep clothing, why not allow God to transform you from the inside out so your desire will be for the things of God and not for the selfish desires of the me self world.
Dear Heavenly transform us from the inside out, so we not the child of the devil in sheep clothing, wearing what we must for society sake, but wearing the clothing that cleansed by Christ's blood from the inside out. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
Continual Scripture Study: Revelation 20:10-15 KJV
10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
2 Corinthians 11:10-15 KJV
10 As the truth of Christ is in me, no man shall stop me of this boasting in the regions of Achaia.
11 Wherefore? because I love you not? God knoweth.
12 But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we.
13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
Colossians 1:12-13 KJV
12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
Romans 12:1-2 KJV
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
