Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Psalm 121:1-8 KJV
1 A Song of degrees. I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
2 My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
4 Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.
6 The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
7 The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.
8 The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

"I lift up my eyes unto the hills", many quote this portion of scripture maybe not even knowing where it is in scripture, but knowing the words of the saints when there is a mountain/hill(trouble, weak, going through a storm, or just plain tired) to climb. There times when we wonder if help is coming. Most of the time, the help we seek, is really just spiritual, physical, mental, and emotional strength. Most people know how to call a friend, neighbor or even the law hopefully. Now all these things are beneficial for help or aid. However how does God help us. Those in need might wonder how God will provide in my circumstances. God provides with people obeying his Spirit. I heard a story many years ago a man stop at a store bought some milk and other things, and then drove to a house, of people he did not know and drop off the much needed items for the family who were praying for help. The list can go on. Does God help through us just praying. It depends on the situation, and whether we can help ourselves perhaps, or perhaps not. It varies or comes down to the need that is needing meet. More then once have I heard a story of a little cat needing a meal, and walking away after eating it and never returning. But the woman that told it would tell you it was the last of the gravy she had. She tell you that someone brought her grocery that very same day. She had not known what she feed her family. God's people knew her need because she was poor. They care for the people in that they knew were in need.

God's people have one of the best tools of being obedient to the Lord, by walk through the open door of opportunity. Yet in the heat of battle one can say the one in trouble is the one in battle, when they are tired, worn out and another fight seem impossible. They see the army march when they look at the hill as the enemy marching down, only to know there only hope is the Lord that made heaven and earth. If wee stop there the help was not in the hill side, though the problem/hill was clearly seen. This hill was enormous and yet the Lord will provide the help needed. God gives andrellin to the soldier. One last charge, and one last fight before they can rest.

Part of fighting a good fight for the Lord is having your feet planted in his salvation, through Christ Jesus/word. We got to remember the Old Testament, Christ had not been born so the word of God was so important to stand solid in. If you going to fight a spiritual battle your feet better be on the solid rock and your feet better not slide off, better yet, God is able to keep your feet from slipping. As beleiver in faith his word first begins for God so loved the world and then that whosoever believeth would not perish, but would have eternal life. Simple truth believe in Jesus to be saved. As a believer we must stand on his word and allow God to hold us to faith in him. First we must take the first step to believe, his salvation he design for you and me. His word is true and that fact he provide evidence through his Son, who came to save us and to pay the price for our sins. God does not get tired or need to sleep. He does have rest day, but he still available to us. After all his Son was still available to the people even on the Sabbath. He was still preaching and teaching 24/7 as needed. Jesus was always ready to minister even when waken from sleep. He calmed the storm after being waken by disciples on the ship.

The Lord is our shade, we will not be burned by the sun or moon. Perhaps this is best describe the the gods of other nations. We can not be harmed by other gods. For God is our keeper and protector. The Lord will persever you from evil. Do you believe it. Trust me there are times I been seen walking across a snake, where I can not see well, and it went one way as I continued forward. Only way I knew about the snake was a friend told me I just walked over one. It happened more then once in my life. The last snake raised his head to bite and I crushed it, because it was a baby snake. I scared the poor woman when I did it. However I knew once it was that little it could be crushed. No shovel around and to many people around that could be bitten by it. It was probably a copper head. There times people have reported being late or to early and miss being in a wreck by minutes and even seconds. Yet to hear stories of God provision even in times of trouble, do we wonder was this God or just chance. God is not chance, he needs not to gamble, he knows you by name, he knows if you sealed by His Spirit, he not God that abandons his people. Christ's Spirit left his body, Jesus went to set the captives free and bring to his Father. Their first stop the temple and the second stop heaven gate. Then he came back to spend time with the disciples after the resurrection. God's Spirit left the body of Christ so it could die, God's power held Jesus alive to face not only a beating that day of forty lashes, but the nailing him to the cross. He gave his last breath, and in three days he arose. His going to finish the will of God.

There are times in life our bodies are weak, but God's Spirit is strong. God's Spirit enables us to run with faith and know He is in control, because of answer prayer. He can hold us and plant us by in his word, so our feet will not be moved. Where is your faith today? Where is your hope, are you trusting in God's provision or only own means of providing?

Dear Heavenly Father, teach us to look to you, despite the hills before you. Knowing it hard to climb the hill in battle of faith, but you make our feet stand on solid rock and hold us in your saving grace. Help us to rely solely on you, doing our part as doors are open wide to walk through. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: 2 Timothy 1:12-14 KJV
12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
13 Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
14 That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.
