No Condemnation 10/12/2020
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisJohn 8:1-11 KJV
1 Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.
2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.
3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,
4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?
6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.
7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
Jesus is teaching in the temple. Now lets widen this view of this simple story I used before. Jesus is asked about the law of adultery by some men dragging a woman caught in adultery into the temple. She is there before Jesus, the scribes and Pharisees, and the people. Now one sin here is not only the sin of adultery but the sinner not repenting being unclean with in the temple. Yet we got to go even further and say that when asked is this woman condemn to death by the law, and is teaching inside the religious building, he is now fixing to commit blasphemy against the law, no more then those that dragged the woman into the temple doors.
We have to ask is Jesus sabbotaging the law of God at the time of Moses. Where these laws only for the time frame of Moses, or were these laws produced. How can Jesus preach no condemnation within the temple. When this is issue of the law. How can he say I do not condemn you, when the very law of God states condemnation for the act of adultery. Now this sounds like I putting Jesus on trial and in a way I guess you can say I am in one since, but not in another since I weighing forgiveness that Jesus is offering this woman, by the act of whatever Jesus wrote on the ground, caused her accusers to walk away.
If the law is only created to bring one to repentance surely it did in the heart of the woman, for Jesus spoke of no condemnation apon her for the very act of adultery. Yet by Jewish law she was condemned, and by religious law she was to be stoned. By Roman law she was a free woman, and that was legal law that the Jews were under at the time of Jesus. Is Jesus teaching that the ten commandments is only if under the law of Israel and it not really God's law? This would of sounded blasphemous to fundamental religious leaders that were so extreme that if you sneezed you were unclean.
If the purpose of the law is still taught even today has no bearing on our actions, other then to point out the fact we all sin, then forgiveness from God is absolutely possible without punishment of the law of scripture through Christ Jesus, who would pay the price for our sins on the cross of Calvary by only belief as recorded by Christ and his apostles in scripture. The idea of God's ability to forgive man despite our despite our disobedience to his laws and despite our concious knowledge of the law. Has the law of God been erased, In Hebrews 10 it says that the Holy Spirit writes the laws of God on our heart. If God is only using the law to show our transgression the punishment of the transgression is to mark or to point out sin, to show our need of Christ forgiveness for our sin.
Christ said no condemnation, but go and sin no more. The law being no more required to follow after God in strict obedience, no the sin no more makes it require to do just that go and sin no more. Go and live sin free knowing you are forgiven for this act of sin. Christ did not say continue to break the law, he did instruct to go and sin no more, though he condemned her not. When we examine the cost of her crime she was worthy of death. Worthy to be condemned. If she caught again does Jesus still forgive, consider this he taught to forgive 70 times seven. Yet to know we sin, and have no repentance is the exact same as Cain.
There is a time of God's warning and God's forgiveness for sin. The warning from God and not man. Jesus warns her to sin no more. Was it for her protection from the pharisees and scribes, the religious zealots, or from the condemnation from God and his law. Christ purpose was not to condemn but to teach the ways of God. To teach forgiveness and about sin that God does not condemn or imputeth judgment. To teach that in the days of under another rule you must follow the rules of man to perhaps survive to understand their laws have judgment too. Maybe with that thought as the High Priest Prophesied had that one man must die for the people found in John around the thirteenth chapter, Jesus was chosen to die for the sins of man for the transgression stirring up the crowd to keep peace from causing such a stir and causing trouble for the religious leaders and people, because of who Jesus is. Yet his death would only cause more disturbance in the land for he rose again, not to be defeated but to teach for forty days sending his disciples forth in his name, to tell the people about Him, God the Father and the Holy Spirit. For a time there would be unrest for those that believed and then a time of rest would come.
The church world is being disturbed by government, by communities and those that are against it during this pandemic. Some church remaining open despite social distancing, laws of the land and the fact that even our stores are having to focus on obeying these same codes. Yet no one thinks on the fact the social world inside the church got halted for a few months because of a pandemic, despite stores remain open. It was so much out of fear, but a regrouping how to follow these new guidelines and help everyone to comply as best as possible. It required the human race of America to refocus what was not only vital for existence but necessary in life. It scares me to think of any church doors shutting because of a pandemic but it has happened. Only long enough to figure out the solution to the problem, not to deny one to worship God. The minute we can not pray in the middle of the street, in the store, or in our homes we have a larger issue. Of course i don't recommend the middle of the street because of passing cars, but you get what I am saying for sure.
Dear Heavenly Father, the law of worship may it always be in our land to be able to worship you freely despite whatelse is happening. May your word stand strong in our land. May we understand your unconditional love for us with the knowledge we are to sin no more. in Jesus precious name, Amen.
Continual Scripture Study: Hebrews 10:11-18 KJV
11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.
14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
15 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,
16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
Psalm 32:2 KJV
2 Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.
Romans 4:1-8 KJV
1 What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?
2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.
3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,
7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.
