HIding It All Away Or Increasing The Kingdom 10/2/2020
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisLuke 19:11-27 KJV
11 And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear.
12 He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.
13 And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.
14 But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us.
15 And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.
16 Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds.
17 And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.
18 And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds.
19 And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities.
20 And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin:
21 For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow.
22 And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow:
23 Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury?
24 And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give it to him that hath ten pounds.
25 (And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.)
26 For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him.
27 But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.
Though this parable that Jesus told is about money, it is also about the kingdom of heaven. God does not give salvation just for us to hide that information from others but for us to share that information to increase church. Let us look at the story about money and realize this is before Jesus would go into Jerusalem to prepare for his crucifixion. This story is about a nobelman or entrepreneur who help others by giving them a chance to take what he gave them and use it to increase what they were given, to return to him, He did not tell them how to increase but gave them the money to see what they would do with it. He was taking over the country and would see how they would help in his efforts so to speak. Citizens of the country did not like the man and even sent a letter to the man that was over this entrepreneur to see if they send someone else. Yet the ones this entrepreneur gave the money to did several things based on what they knew about this man. That the man encourage profit and increase.
This first man increased his ten pounds and gave the entrepreneur ten more pounds, so he had doubled it. The second one had increased his one pound to five pounds more then doubling it, but the last one given only a pound put his money on a shelf tucked in a napkin. Now the man was upset that the man did not at least put the money in the bank to increase it. With this he told the man he was wick servant, and gave that money to the man with ten talents.
God is not pleased when he gives us something and we never use it or share it. We bring not increase. God did not give his children gifts of the Holy Spirit to not to increase the church but to increase the church world. Some people think the gift of the Holy Spirit is a sideshow act, and it is not.It is to increase the body of Christ through demonstration of love, explanation in another language, to interpreting so someone else can understand the story of Christ and receive it. God's kingdom is not of gold and silver but of the increase of his family. His wealth in the family of God. We all need money, we all need clothing, food, shelter from the storm, and so on and so forth. God not blind to our needs, but as we learn about his kingdom we learn about his love for mankind, for others, to enable others to know him. God not going to do a head count of how many people you lead to Christ, He not going to be looking how many times you show love, He going to look at his kingdom to see the increase through the work of His Spirit, through our joint effort with God as far as being obedient to His Spirit. When we stand before him the first thing he sees is the seal of the Holy Spirit and the blood covering of Christ his Son. The second thing he sees is if we follow him because we bear his mark. Then he shows us our talents, and things we had to share his word. He either claim us good and faithful or wicked servant that hide his light to the world. Are we sharing and increasing the kingdom of God.
Dear Heavenly Father, help us to not be children of wickness that hides your light, but help increase your light in the world. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: 1 Corinthians 3:1-23 KJV
1 And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?
4 For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?
5 Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man?
6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.
8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.
9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.
10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.
19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
20 And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.
21 Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours;
22 Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours;
