Dinner Time 10/1/2020
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisLuke 17:1-10 KJV
1 Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!
2 It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.
3 Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.
4 And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.
5 And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.
6 And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.
7 But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat?
8 And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink?
9 Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not.
10 So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.
After a long days of work do you cook or do you learn it easier to go eat out then to fix a meal at times, when you very tired. Often time those working with the modern convince of a resturaunt find it easier to eat a meal out then to fix a meal. Even with crock pots, microwaves, new pressure cooker, air fryers and so forth to cook things faster, it simpler to eat out. Imagine coming in hot and tired from the field and being told you better wait on your boss first. If your boss is rich enough he has a higher cook, needs you not to wait on him after working for him in the field or else where. It simple you sit and eat supper at the big huge table in the dinner room with the boss.
Has a child of God their are many benefits, one of them is if you have faith you can tell tree root to go plant itself in the sea and it will. That takes more faith then most of us have, one because it not that we doubt it possible, it the very act of claiming that ability for ourselves. Are we at a place that what we believe is possible seem out of reach. Think for a moment is God our servant or are we Christ servant. Then the question is does Christ need to see the tree root planted in the sea, and for what purpose. The point being our thoughts of ability need to remain in Christ power for without Christ our power is limited by a shovel and digging up a tree root and planting it in the sea.
Let us think again, Right before the tree root walks and plants himself in the sea, what is Jesus talking about but forgiveness, The point of my craziness this morning, is to make the point that the ability to rebuke and forgive our brother is easier then what Christ tells his disciples what they can do if they have faith as small as a mustard seed. The point being most of us do not have that power to even rebuke and forgive our brother or sister when they are in need of it. It shameful the pain of causing harm to one person, especially a child, but not to be able to forgive and only harbor anger is a greater crime. No one going to hang a mill stone around one's neck the stone to large to carry, it often must be rolled, or moved by something stronger then the weight of the stone.
Do we have the faith that Christ is help us to work in his fields and not pay us a reward, or take us to heaven only to have to cook his meal first before eating supper in the servants quarters. No we will be sitting at the table with Jesus. We will be sitting and dinning with Christ when the work is through. Yet have we done anything we was not the duty of man to begin with. To care for those in need, to love and to give others. If we can not do our part but instead cause harm then we need to ask are we going to tie a mill stone around our neck because we fail to do what is our duty and responibility as human beings. Our faith is about believeing in Jesus, our duty is to follow in the teaching of God, and obey his truth so we can love one another. Just because on earth we can seem to get a tree to move does not mean in the promise land that we will not be able to do this. For God's reward for his children of faith is great.
Dear Heavenly Father, help us to love and obey, but greater still to have faith in your ability to do what needed in our life and not relying on our ability to do the impossible by just your command, and not our will, but yours will be done, waiting on the day our faith is fully realized. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

26 For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him.
27 But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.
