Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Numbers 14:1-8 KJV
(1) And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night.
(2) And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness!
(3) And wherefore hath the LORD brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? were it not better for us to return into Egypt?
(4) And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt.
(5) Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel.
(6) And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of them that searched the land, rent their clothes:
(7) And they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land.
(8) If the LORD delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey.

Is the blessings of God what you really want? Israel spent forty years in the wilderness to reach their goaled and decide it would have been better to have died in Egypt. I be honest when you think of where you been is the open door in plain sight worth the trouble to go through it. Some might say how wide is the door and how narrow is that gate before I make the attempt. If you think of Alice and wonderland as the door open it was to a small little door at the end of the hallway and poor Alice could not fit through the door so she had to drink milk or was it eat cat to shrink herself to fit through the door. Israel had to go through a purging or weight loss of sin before the door was even seeable. Then they sinned again as they were on the very edge of the Promise Land. A land flowing with milk and honey. Yet to get through that door sin had to be gotten rid of. There doubts their inability to trust in the power of God.

How often our stumbling blocks is to see the battle ahead of us and know that with victory comes war and work. . In reality dreams are just another door in one’s life to go through and battle with and gain achievement of a land flowing of milk and honey. Israel would have to fight for what they want. The Promise land was not just handed to them. No doubt some seen what laid ahead and was not sure if they really wanted to fight those in their way to land that Abraham had claimed as his.

In 1492 Christopher Columbus sailed the Ocean blue to land down in the region of the Florida Keys and set up a claim for Spain as a new territory. Not only did he establish but he desire to take over the islands he found and declared those territories has him conquering them. I stood on a mountaintop about ten years ago and prayed that word of God would go forth from the hills I lived in around the globe. Never in my mind did I even think it possible even with the technological age we live in. The possibility there, but never it imagined to go that far. I know that was a prayer of the Holy Spirit. What we claim for God, God has the ability to do. Yet what man claims for himself is often only for himself. With God all things are possible, if it is according to His will.

Christopher Columbus may of laid claim to those Islands off of Florida, but what he could not claim as those people being his that lived there. They were a people with knowledge and writing skills already. They were not just heathens to be conquered. They had there own society.

It is not about flexing muscles divide and conquer a land, it is about winning the souls of the people there for God. How can those souls be won if we only destroy. As believers are task is not about destruction but about education of spreading the message of Jesus. Does war come and go and does not faith of God go before the believer still? The subject of war is more then divide and conquer.

Those that understand war, fully grasp how Israel going into the promise land to fight would do one or two things cause people just to say okay or fight to death. The enemy had heard of Israel trip through the wilderness, and yet they still fought against Israel. Yet before the open door to the promise land could be crossed a problem needed to be taken care of. New leadership had to be established. Moses would never go into the Promise Land because of sin in his own life. Yet the people in the wilderness wanted to go back to Pharaoh, for they knew what they had their, they were not sure what was in store for them on the other side of Jordan River.

If God promises you something then victory in sight, don’t make God angry about His promise. Do not make God angry about what He fixing to do for you by deciding to go back down the road you just came from. A road of having to relearn faith all over again. Stand up and Stand up knowing victory just through those doors.

Dear Heavenly Father remind us how your victory in our life might be seen as open doors, that have struggles and wars in them. Yet you have the power to defeat the enemy with ever door you have open to us as individuals. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
