Ten Virgins 11/29/2021
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisMatthew 25:1-13 KJV
1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
This is one those stories you either skim or you read through, and if you skim it you miss many important facts to why the five wise virgins did not share their oil with the five foolish virgins. First all ten virgins knew they were going to meet their groom, they knew not the hour in which he come, but they needed to be ready. Five came with their lamps full and the other five came with their lamps empty. Now when all ten had to wait, the five who had no oil could of gone gotten oil but did not. When they are told the bridegroom comes but he running late they find themselves without oil and try and borrow some from the five other virgins. Instead the five wise virgins tell the other five virgins to and get some oil. The five went running to get oil only to find the other virgins went with him to the marriage and the door was shut. So they knock on the door and he tell them I do not know you.
The ten virgins represent five believers with faith and five believers without faith. Both know they will meet their maker, one with oil which is faith and other group of people without faith but believe in the existence of God. They go about daily living with no thought of the need of God's salvation until they hear he coming. Immediately they try and find faith, try to find out what they must do to be saved and go and they get saved only for the words the door is shut and it is to late to come into the bridal chamber.
Ever been in a church when a soul is saved, altar call is extended, but no one is answering, but the Spirit of God is beckoning and you praying for whoever it is to be able to make that decision for Christ. When the altar is closed, that person can still make a choice if living, but one day that altar will be closed to those left behind. It will be like the days of Noah. The flood coming upon man as Noah was safe in the ark with a total of eight soul within the ark.
Now if you know of the raising of dead at the time of cross of Jesus, then can you imagine what the Jews thought that they were left behind with no hope. There bread and butter was being priest, but their salvation they thought was gone and destroyed and so some would receive Christ and others well they would choose a different pathway. The argument comes if the time of Jews are over, yet the Jews are still in power, then what was happening when persecution came to the Christians? It was simple really it like all of us before salvation the knowledge of God, maybe even faith, but not saved. Many pray to God without the knowledge of salvation of God or knowledge of eternity. That why Christians preach the hope of eternity. Jews teach their Messiah has not come, because they are in denial by not understanding the prophecy or not understanding who Jesus fully is. That is a Christian perspective on faith in general, because Christians are able to see the Jews as their brothers and sisters in since of belief in God the Father of the Old Testament without the promise. If we can understand the contraversey of the situation, it sounds like Christianity is on an ego trip to those that do not believe, and those who believe look back and wonder how could the Jews missed it. Some where not in Jerusalem at the time, some would of only experiences perhaps the earthquake, definitely the eclipse that occurred, but they would not of known what happened. Yet the sorrow of the event of the cross, excitement at the resurrection and ascension, would be shouted from house to house, from the roof, all the way to the government of Rome. Eventually Constantine would be saved when in power and the crusades would occur. Friction cause division, excitement causes confusion and reality of talk and gossip causes non facts to be presented.
Today is 32 year celebration of life and hope, after being hit by a train in 11/30/1990. I was in my car when it was hit by a train as I cross the railroad tracks. When I got healed in May 2004 of chronic pain, I found myself maybe a little shocked. However when I went back into the church, I did not shout in the church, I spoke peacefully and calmly what the Lord had done for me. The church I was healed in, I probably should of shouted. It not that anyone did not believe me, I was to quiet even perhaps for the pastor of the church. Yet he understood too. A shouting type of church is more use to people not being so reserved.
What is my point when God is moving in our life, we either recognize it, we ignore it or we run like the energizer bunny shouting from one ends of the earth to the other. Point being God is often moving when we are blind to it. When I got hit by the train I knew God had intervened, but I was in to much pain to care for the moment to praise God for saving my life. Other things I went through after the wreck from illness and so forth brought silent praise, Chronice pain and fibromyalgia healing set me on fire. Yet I break a leg and get stuck on the computer, texting and typing a friend what God had done, things in the church world was different then my background, with many question, and all with the simple answer to search the word(Bible), find the truth in what God does, and does not do by his Spirit. Examine the events that were occurring in my life. Then hold to those things one knows that are true and keep my light shining for Jesus, because I know he is real in my own life for others to also know the truth.
We have a choice to make everyday of our life, to either be prepared for Christ coming and wait and see, or set back with unbelief and no faith, but recognition there is a God, and understanding if you not saved, and allowing your light to shine the door will get shut to you if you try to get faith at his appearance. Some people say I just wait and see. Well you can't wait and see because it will be to late to respond. Yes God is merciful but his wrath is coming along with his Son. Your choice to follow will not be because of faith but because of fear alone. God not going to allow it. Faith is about love and hope and all the good things of life by joining with his Spirit, by being born of his Spirit when one receive Jesus Christ as Lord. His word will be taken from man at the hour God the Father has appointed, but it will come ushering in with the appearance of the Word in the image of Christ incarnate in full glory as the Son of Man, The Son of God, the prince of peace, and hope to the world. Hope of man just fizzled out with his wrath.
One is either like the five virgin with oil in their lamp and allowing their light to shine, or the five virgins with empty lamp and no oil or light hunting for oil and a match to light the flame, only to have door shut because it to late. You did all you thought was right as far as how to be saved, only to discover the door shut because Christ has taken his people home. Taken his church home to be with him. Now the wrath of God is in the world in the form of his word coming without ceasing.
One needs to be like the five virgins that trimmed their wicks, filled their lamps by receiving Jesus and allowed God to light them by his Spirit to speak the Gospel truth of love and hope. Do not worry about the filling of God's Spirit in your heart, it is enough to fuel the ministry God will prepare you to do for him. Your light will shine in place you did not think possible for it light to shine.
Dear Heavenly Father, prepare my for your Son's soon return, I confess I am a sinner, and receive Christ salvation, and his Spirit in my heart, sealing me unto salvation, and also guiding and direct my path. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
If you prayed the above prayer with me, you are now saved, your lamp is now lit and full waiting on Christ soon return.
Continual Scripture Study: 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 KJV
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Revelation 19:7-16 KJV
7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.
9 And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.
10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
