Thanksgivings Countdown 25 Days: Thank God For His Comfort 11/19/2021
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisIsaiah 40:1-8 KJV
1 Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.
2 Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the LORD'S hand double for all her sins.
3 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
4 Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:
5 And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
6 The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field:
7 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass.
8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
God wants to bring comfort after correction. Hard to be thankful for correction, but one can be thankful for God's comfort. Take a child that is spanked, in thirty years he be thankful for the correction but at the moment when his/her bottom is sore, I guarantee he or she is not to thankful. I heard a person talking about chores in form of correction the other day, and chores should be a part of life not correction ever. Chores only teach responsibility that should be part of life skills. However if you take away a child's toy, you got to fill that day with something constructive because sitting on a bed all day over along period of time seldom works beyond someone having time to dwell on what they did wrong and they will only dwell on it, if they felt it was wrong or know in their heart it is wrong. Punishment usually only works on a child if later on the behavior changes. How one must change bad behavior to replace it with good behavior modifications. However most people seldom take correction unless there is a heart change. Meaning something must change within a person.
Israel was from the promise land and yet being exile was a form of correction from God, because it force the people into a society not their own to face the consequences of those laws in a foreign place. They must adjust to the laws of the foreign world to know whether there own laws were just or not. When God sent his Son he sent him at a time, he would live by the foreign laws and the laws of religion, these laws were part of the way of life of the Jewish people. Imagine Adam being placed in the garden in a foreign world to him and not to his wife Eve who is created then from his rib in the garden. There in the garden there is one law not to eat the fruit of one tree, because God said so, but everything else was good to eat. Then being exiled because of disobedience to a world he no longer familiar with, but is from. His wife is not from there, she was created in Eden. The ways of Adam in the old world would make her depended on him to a point and yet when she gave birth to her first child in pain, she praised God. Child bearing being her correction of the cost of her sin, both in a foreign place to her and she gave life to her salvation. Ruth was not from Israel but was willing to go with Naomi and let her God be her God.
Israel was kicked out of a land not familiar to them by laws, and forced to live in foreign ways. They had to know the difference of God's laws and the rest of the world and why they wanted world's laws instead of God's laws. Israel corruption was always the desire of the rest of the world that lead to idolatry and the corruption in God's house. Now it is okay you corrupt your house, but do not go about corrupting God's house. Do not go about corrupting God's ways in his sanctuary. Outside the place that are consider Holy God allows man to run to an fro. Outside his dwelling he permitted until after Christ. Now God correct his people and the world. After all Heaven is God's throne and the earth is his footstool.
America it time we wake up and stop allowing the devil to corrupt God's houses, his churches, his people when come to faith, love and hope. There is outside the church a world different sometimes then the church world and that has laws of what not always based on faith, but even the devil must obey those laws or face consequences. Believers have faced a hardship due to the sins of other. True believers of God in Israel faced judgment due to people not of their faith in their land being allow to corrupt their society, even demanding the pagan rituals by the kings of the land because it all started with foreign wives that did not submit to God or if they did perhaps their families that tag alonged and moved with them were not of faith in God.
The sting of correction on Israel is still marked and etched on every believer in God, and God says comfort his people. Comfort his people with the hope of the Messiah coming. Comfort his people with the hope of his coming and the looking for the coming of the Lord who would come because they paid double for their sin. The whole theology of exile can begin with the garden of Eden and then go into the knowledge of the promise land. Yet the second time of Christ appearing it will not be after a time of correction, it will be before the correction. Christ will make one more cry across our land by the Holy Spirit to the believers to go into the highway and byways and gather the lost souls into the kingdom, and without the cry Christ will still return to judge the people of the world. Christ is preached around the world it is comfort to the believer, but also to the world. So what if they copy the believer in instruction and behavior, it hopefully a good thing. Yet when faith is applied to the copycats of the world something happens, God's people arise in faith and hope. A welcome call to Christ and his entry as King and Lord to our world we live in.
Have we learned with Christ resurrection He now has a incorruptible body. Our flesh is like grass, we will die, and flesh will perish, but our soul is incorruptible. We given a new outfit to wear. A white robe that not stained with corruption. We are purified and sanctified in God's kingdom inside the New Jerusalem and new home, where all our diseases are healed.
Israel was going to be comfort by the coming of Christ, by the ministers cry of his coming first as scripture declare and then with the coming he would heal the people, demonstrate his power and show them they are forgiven. The resurrection came to demonstrate they were forgiven. There sins were many but they were washed in the blood of the Lamb.
Christ coming was a time of healing the relationship with his people, and yet it also brought division, because the leaders decided they wanted peace with their enemy and not uprising, instead of peace with God. They eyes were blinded to the peace they needed and the true peace they desire. I can remember a time in my life I wanted to be like the Jones, and have my cake and eat it too, so to speak, but in reality I desired peace with God more then war with him, because I knew what He meant to me in my life. God knows our deepest desire. Are we going to allow Christ to be the peace offering for our sins. Are we going to allow Christ the word of God into our life to rule and reign in our heart. Our sin makes war with God. God corrects sin even as a believer. Israel was corrected and God was trying his best to restore them to the right path, by keeping his promise to them that believed. However some desired the new laws and new path over God's way. Christ pathway is still the old roads. The path of love, the path of hope, the path of obedience to God's Spirit when we receive God's word. Cain rejected God word and killed Abel, Eve rejected God's word and ate the forbidden fruit. We all do this in our life, and yet God is able to redeeming us, forgive us and correct us. Christ paid the price for our sin. We no longer need to be alienated from God because of sin only our unbelief, when we receive Christ as Savior. Yet there needs to be not just a belief change but a willingness to do his obey his word and not our own. God is our comforter after the correction through his Son and then His Holy Spirit. Despite we crucified our Lord, He gave the believers his Spirit that believed in his Son.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the pathway that stands against the test of time, a life of forgiveness from sin, peace, love, and peace with you. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
Continual Scripture Study: Revelation 22:1-7 KJV
1 And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:
4 And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads.
5 And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.
6 And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done.
7 Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.
