Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Psalm 103:1-22 KJV
1 A Psalm of David. Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.
6 The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.
7 He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.
8 The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.
9 He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.
10 He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.
12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him.
14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.
15 As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.
16 For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.
17 But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children;
18 To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.
19 The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.
20 Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.
21 Bless ye the LORD, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure.
22 Bless the LORD, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the LORD, O my soul.

I hope today you take special time to meditate on the Psalms in both section I have posted. It time to think about God's story and why we should be grateful for it. We have two God stories recorded in scripture that overlap each other. One in the Old Testament overlapping in the New Testament. However my posting is Old Testament. There things about God that is not explained in the New Testament that perhaps if a book would be added in the New Testament it would be the Psalms and Proverbs. See there are copies of the New Testament with these two books added, why because the Old Testament law no longer applies beyond what the Spirit writes on the heart of the believer.

If I could write the eloquent text of the Bible, it would never compare to what is already recorded about God. There many new songs, and many sermons around the world that entice the listen, but none like scripture. The journey of the hymns from Bringing in the Sheaves, to when The Roll Is Called Up Yonder I be There, to Count Your Blessings Name Them One by One, Footsteps Of Jesus, Trust and Obey, Showers Of Blessings, Old Rugged Cross, Rock Of Ages, and the list goes on. To Contemporary songs Like Amazing Grace(remake), My Chains Are Gone, Thy Word, On A Morning Like This, We Will Exalt Him, and so on and so forth. I sure some singers like hip hop style and rap, wonder where their in that list, you have to pardon me, some music style are not mine. I appreciate those who use all styles of music for the glory of God to reach the younger generations for God. Nothing wrong with each generation expressing themselves differently, however it can be difficult to bridge the two generation.

If I could tell God's story in one paragraph or one sentence we all be rich. Instead what is God's story. Christ is on the cross and the man beside him is defending him. Jesus tells him, he will be in paradise with him. That is a God story too. Why even the sinners knew the innocents of his Son and the man beside Jesus believed Jesus was the Son of God. Even with events of past days, Jesus was only accused of being King of the Jews. God's story, when Cornelius had a vision and obey the Lord and sent for Peter in Joppa that is God's story. Paul(Saul) persecuted Christians only to get saved on the road to the Damacus, that is God's story. Paul was a Jew and a Priest, who graduated to Apostle when Christ himself taught him. God's story is in the life of Ruth story, he gave her a happy ever after story after loosing her first husband. Moses in the Wilderness that is God's story, Abraham story has a God story of Promise Land and his Son Isaac. God using all these stories to show man his own desire and will verse God's will and instruction is not only prophetic but occurs in God's timing.

When I think of God I think of his handwork, when I think of God I think of him healing my diseases, and when I think of God, I think of the earth as his footstool and Heaven is home, until he creates a New Heaven and a New Earth. If we wonder why God does not remove all our obstacles, because he going to take us around it, over it, or through the obstacle in our path. If we trust him the obstacle is just scenery in our life, and if we do not it becomes obstacle in our faith and trust in him. How God loves to give good things to his children and open doors for them in their life, so they have the happy ever after story.

Why read these two Psalms today, because it express God's story. God story from how he works in man's life, to better their life when they choose his path and not the way of idols, and devils. My best lesson in life has been not to follow man's pathway, but God's pathway. Following the Old Roadways, and not following after the ways of man. There nothing with a suggestion from man, or godly counsel, but there is a problem with the world that says do it our way, and God tells us to do it his way, to be blessed. He has a reason for his way. We might not be able to see it, but God's way is always best. When we follow his will we have victory, and God has victory. If you follow the devil way's you will loose even if it appears with silver and gold your winning, you will still loosing in the end and your story will be like Ahab and Jezebel.

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for your story of commitment to your people who follow after the ways of righteousness, and seek you by learning to trust in you. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Psalm 135:13-21 KJV
13 Thy name, O LORD, endureth for ever; and thy memorial, O LORD, throughout all generations.
14 For the LORD will judge his people, and he will repent himself concerning his servants.
15 The idols of the heathen are silver and gold, the work of men's hands.
16 They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not;
17 They have ears, but they hear not; neither is there any breath in their mouths.
18 They that make them are like unto them: so is every one that trusteth in them.
19 Bless the LORD, O house of Israel: bless the LORD, O house of Aaron:
20 Bless the LORD, O house of Levi: ye that fear the LORD, bless the LORD.
21 Blessed be the LORD out of Zion, which dwelleth at Jerusalem. Praise ye the LORD.
