Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Matthew 5:14-16 KJV
14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

The first thing God created on the first day of the week was light. God spoke the word let there be light, and his word was enough for light to become light in the world we live in. Word manifesting itself into action to be something that would effect everyone living being in the world, even those that can not stand light it affects both good and bad.

If we are light of the world, despite how are light effects another it needs to be fruitful in regards to being good work so that others will praise God. The question is does our light produce in this age people to praise God for it, or just ignore the truth of good things produced. If a wife bakes a decent dinner, does the husband praise the Lord? Does the husband just appreciate the hard work of his wife? If the husband mows the lawn and does not cut down her precious flowers does she praise the Lord? If a neighbor receives a certificate for community service are the neighbors spreading the word.

Prayer and worship to God for something someone else does sounds strange perhaps in our world. If a fire fighter or rescue worker does a great task in saving one's life God might be worship along with these skilled workers being praised, if a person is a believer, but not if one is not. I talked about the importance of praying for open doors to share God's word, but we also need to ask God to show us others praising his work in our world we live in. It to easy to be silent on praising God and his work. Even the rocks would cry out on the day we crucified our Lord, because man would not praise God for his work on the cross until Christ rose from the grave.

If we want others to praise God we need to do things that honor God, not only in testimony, but in deeds that help others to know God's grace is working in one's life. People to can know that they can have God's light shine in their life so others can see their good work and praise him. The old saying is do others say you did your best, and you did a job well done. Christ went to the cross with the sneers and mocking of men and not to his death with the praises of men. Christ knew he would go to the cross this way, yet he was fulfilling his Father's will. The one time on earth the rocks praise God but the world condemned Christ Jesus. Yet at Jesus' baptism God the Father was will pleased and declared it before men, not just John the Baptist. The mocking sounds awful until we understand he died, and he arose again. He took his cross like a man bore the cross of being born into the world of sin, and he bore it for you and me. He not only bore his own cross as King of the Jews and the world, but the sin of the world that mocked him and persecuted for he was truly was not only a man condemn to die, but a King of kings and Lord of lords, the Son of God the Prince of Peace, the light of the world that shone for you and me on how to bare our role as children of God, as Christ bore the sins on the mount called Calvary. We may be mocked as believers but can we bare the title of children of God without complaint, without trying to hide his light, but allowing it to shine in each of us as believers to the world.

Can we wear the tattoo of sin against the world upon us, as Christ nail scarred hands and wound in his side did and wear the tattoo of faith in God called the Holy Spirit's mark? Despite that man praise God in the temple and in the streets when healings was performed by Jesus, people were not well pleased with who he was, especially when it caused disturbance to their way of life, even though theives were in the temple courts selling, it made no difference that Christ turned those tables over because it was God's house. That Jesus honor the laws of God above the laws of man. Jews wanted it simple, not a disturbance to worship God by their laws and hiding their very deeds behind the laws of Moses, until it unconvienced them. The one revolt spoiled by the lack of willingness to stand with Christ and his good works before man.

Why should God care about us, love us still and still allow his light to shine on the earth through miracles, wonders, open doors and good works in our life. Simple answer is God loves us still and his Son rose again as promised. Those that believe know because they see the good works of brothers and sisters of faith. They see the positive effect Christ brings to individual, that this type of faith is not question. Though it often is by evil people. Our faith simple and yet even Paul was persecuted for causing disturbance from time to time, and yet he spoke within the guidelines of the law, but not religious law.

God's good work manifested for you and me. Yet do we praise him for the work of his fingers, for the moon and stars and so forth. Do we praise him so the world knows who he is? It is your duty to thank God for his creation. Let us praise him today before the world. For the things he does in our life and the lives of others. Let us praise him for the cross of Jesus.

Dear Heavenly Father thank you for the cross for the work you did on the cross by allowing your Son to die for our sins. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Genesis 1:3 KJV
3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

John 3:19-21 KJV
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
