1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish. To be called blessed in the since of people of faith. I can think of people meet that are brothers and sisters of faith that say bless you all the time as part of the language of faith. It is a nice sound to it, but do you ever think what it means, to say God bless you or to sing even God bless America. We want the blessing of God on people's life more then the the judgment of God on a person. Do we say God bless America. In the eighties Christian had a saying God loves you America and with that invokes a blessing of love from God. Would it better if we shout and spoke God loves you, God bless you and God keep you. The words familiar but yet not heard in society but mainly in the church realm. The blessing of hope not seen because not spoken? If we want the counsel of ungodly then you going to get all kinds of response not of God. If you walk in the counsel of Godly people, you are going have prayer warriors of faith around you. Ever leader, every government official needs prayer warriors and godly counsel.
If we stop for a moment what is godly counsel, but to seek God in all decision making and seeking his word for truth and righteousness in those decisions. Some decision our nation made are not always good, but some decisions are based on equality and justice for people not always of faith. I walk in world that is not always believers around me, but I also meet believers of faith and some wear their faith as garment of words to live by. You know that when they speak they speak the laws of God in every sentence to the point you wonder if they know anything else, then you realize sometimes you wish you spoke as eloquent as they. Then you realize God gifts us differently to speak to each other about faith, love and hope, and at times we must speak in society their language so they will listen. The Holy Spirit knows his saints need that language of faith to each other and it also plants the seed of faith in others. Righteous counsel is not always about speaking God's word constainly, but speaking love of faith and the righteousness of faith, of what would God/Jesus do.
A bless man walks not only in counsel of the godly, but delights in the law of God and he meditates on them day and night. Now most of us do not go around with a Bible verse running constantly through our heads or the latest sermon, testimonial of faith running in our heads, or have list of praises running constantly through our lips. Though I have meet some that you think their life was that consistent. However we need to be real about faith and who we are as believers, that we do know more then Bible, for we become no earthly good at times, if all we can speak is Bible. Bible language only tells about CPR when God breathed in Adam's nostrils. Doctors, nurse and rescue workers will appreciate that, but medical jargon need to treat people sometimes.
A bless man is one that is planted like a tree by the rivers water that brings forth fruti in season and whatever he does prosper. Now we know if we preaching constantly scripture we might not be able to talk about what necessary concerning a task we are doing. However if you look at a fruit tree that is planted near water, what do the fish do they come up and grab hold of the low branches that dip in the water and eat the fruit, or they even wait til it falls of the tree. In fact life around the fruit free by a river feeds many in due season and other animals like turtles, squirrels, and other animals vegetate on fruit trees around a river. The shade alone is refreshing to those tired of the hot noon day sun.
The ungodly they look at the tree of fruit and the tree of love and understand it not. They understand not the blessed man that is giving away his wealth, his dreams, his self to help others. It sounds almost as if the ungodly know not what the blessing of hope, faith and love truly is. They rather be takers. They rather be abusers, and people not caring what others think, because they want it their own way, and see nothing wrong about not having God word to meditated on in their daily life. That even five minutes on the subject of God hurts their ears. They idea of love and hope is still about self love only. LIke a business man saying how can i help and still make a profit on helping. We know the type, we see food items saying if you buy this, your helping someone else, in truth you might be, but are you helping yourself too. What if that dollar went straight to chariety and you still bought food items and trinkets at normal cost at a discount. I heard one the other day I thought was great. Buy one get one free and the one that free give it away to someone that might use it or need it. I been think on this idea, seen it online and thought that better then buying someone grocery ahead of you or a cup of coffee, because no one else is obligate to do the same thing because another did it to them. Then they to can give that way with no extra expense.
If we look at how can we help someone without thinking how can we benefit from them, we have achieved the first blessing, of helping others. I always say if you can give something away without needing reward don't give it. Nothing wrong with knowing if someone like something. There nothing wrong with blessed from giving, because giving produces others to give also. A new way of giving. The blessed man gives out of his prosperity, and bless man gives because God has made his way prosper and it not about how can I be rich from profiting off of you. Though giving to someone does cause a righteous person to prosper.
Something to remember even outwardly we may look like a saint of God but inwardly we might be like harden stone of ungodliness. God knows your motives, knows if you are of faith, if you know his word, and if you meditate on his promises. He knows your eternity is with him or not. Our faith comes with blessings, because to be righteous, we obey the law of love, hope and faith. David was under the law, and so he meditate on the law to obey it. We are saved by grace, but the Holy Spirit writes his law of love on our hearts.
As we look next month at the righteous and bless people of the Christmas story, we going to see a people of hope, that see one of the promises of God fullfilled with the birth of God's first born Son through the virgin Mary. Jesus was not just a sign to Israel, but blessed hope of faith, love and hope. It came to a people waiting for a long time for this event. Not fully understanding what this might mean, but they knew Jesus was the salvation of the world. We see the council of God to his people and in time would come council from others through praise and blessings of those waiting for the hope for many years. See the council not only of God but the love of friends, family and strangers in the story. Some bring gifts from afar, and others coming with empty hands but grateful hearts to worship the new born king. What made these people blessed, was it only the knowledge of Jesus? Know they had to have known of God's promise. We too are blessed people of God because of knowledge of Christ return. As we celebrate this month may Christmas come to our hearts, knowing we need to meditate on the scriptures that surround the promises of Christ first coming as baby to grow up as a man. Christ was with Isaiah by being the word of God, but God's word was manifesting into flesh to live among us an teach us how to live by faith.
Dear Heavenly Father, bless be your people that are blessed by the knowledge of our coming Messiah and the eternal hope of everlasting life. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
