1 The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, of the priests that were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin:
2 To whom the word of the LORD came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign.
3 It came also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the carrying away of Jerusalem captive in the fifth month.
4 Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
6 Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.
7 But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.
8 Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD.
9 Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.
10 See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.
11 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree.
12 Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.
13 And the word of the LORD came unto me the second time, saying, What seest thou? And I said, I see a seething pot; and the face thereof is toward the north.
14 Then the LORD said unto me, Out of the north an evil shall break forth upon all the inhabitants of the land.
15 For, lo, I will call all the families of the kingdoms of the north, saith the LORD; and they shall come, and they shall set every one his throne at the entering of the gates of Jerusalem, and against all the walls thereof round about, and against all the cities of Judah.
16 And I will utter my judgments against them touching all their wickedness, who have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, and worshipped the works of their own hands.
17 Thou therefore gird up thy loins, and arise, and speak unto them all that I command thee: be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound thee before them.
18 For, behold, I have made thee this day a defenced city, and an iron pillar, and brasen walls against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof, and against the people of the land.
19 And they shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the LORD, to deliver thee. We are born for a purpose? Jeremiah was told by the Lord he knew him before he was born. I began thinking on this and begin to think how each person muct be born again to enter the kingdom of heaven. John 3 speaking of spiritual birth. God knows us before we ever call him Father. In fact his word of faith is planted in our hearts and soul to receive Christ as Lord and Savior. Christ had not been born at the time of Jeremiah in the flesh. The word of God was Jeremiah salvation, because with faith in what God said was not just thought but evidence of prophetic word would come to pass.
We can not worship God until there is a belief in his word. Until there is acceptance of his word. Oh one might go to the altar and even sing in the congregation, but until the word of God truly takes root and faith arises deep within the sole, there is no relationship with God. God spoke intimately with Jeremiah about world events. He spoke about the difficultity that people would have hearing the word he spoke and would not listen to the truth, that the prophesy would have to come to pass as spoken for the people to believe. He done something within the soul of Jeremiah, he made him a mighty fortress, a defense city when he spoke the word God he was suppose to speak to the people of Israel.
When we are born again God see us from the beginning process and also the transformation process in which he calls us to be his children. He has a purpose for us before our spiritual birth. A purpose to first hear his call to be born again, but second to receive his Spirit who will receive spiritual gifts for ministry from Him, and taught by him for the journey of faith. He wants to plant that seed in our hearts, the word being Jesus the everlasting hope, the everlasting promise of God. Jeremiah was not Jesus, but he spoke the word of faith. He was strong in faith and in the word. These two things were need for his journey to prophecied to the nation of Israel. Jeremiah had to be stronger then the people who did not believe the words God spoke.
Jesus being the word of Prophecy coming to life in the flesh before man to testify of God's word being true to a generation that had not seen the move of God coming to past til Jesus was born by a virgin and taught scribes and Priest at age 12 in the temple. The miracle performed though out his ministry. Testifying of the power of God's promise and performing miracles
If we can begin with the title of this message, Born for a purpose and understand when we are born by the Spirit of God, get saved, we are born to be his child, to be his friend, to know His business in the world today. To know what is happening by his power and might. We are born to be participators as his disciples to share the word and to be strong in faith as Jeremiah was. To be part of God's history as his children by faith, doing our part in the areas and gifts in which we are called. Using the talents God has instilled in us as well as those gifts. If God has called, then God has purpose, and if God has a purpose then we know his purpose for our life, even if not completely, but to be children of obedience to see his work and will performed in our life and the life of others.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for calling us for a purpose, calling us to be your child, a child of faith in your word, and in Christ in the flesh. Help us to trust in you concerning your design for our life, knowing you will equip us for that purpose. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
Thanksgiving Day Countdown Day 8: Thank you Lord for giving me purpose in my life and calling for your purpose.
