1 And all the congregation of the children of Israel journeyed from the wilderness of Sin, after their journeys, according to the commandment of the LORD, and pitched in Rephidim: and there was no water for the people to drink.
2 Wherefore the people did chide with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said unto them, Why chide ye with me? wherefore do ye tempt the LORD?
3 And the people thirsted there for water; and the people murmured against Moses, and said, Wherefore is this that thou hast brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst?
4 And Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, What shall I do unto this people? they be almost ready to stone me.
5 And the LORD said unto Moses, Go on before the people, and take with thee of the elders of Israel; and thy rod, wherewith thou smotest the river, take in thine hand, and go.
6 Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.
7 And he called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the chiding of the children of Israel, and because they tempted the LORD, saying, Is the LORD among us, or not? There are many powers in our world and the foundation of which these powers are built, some on sinking sand and other's on the solid rock of God's Holy Word. We live in an age where our land and the nations around us are going through tribulation with a pandemic. The rising of death in some regions higher then others. Others are saying don't worry, be happy, and it all be fine and dandy. I look at the culture of our world and wonder how many are standing on the word God and how many on sinking sand this morning. I wonder about my own feet as I stand on the rock of faith and type each morning, never knowing who reading, who is being blessed and who is saying I get this, I now how you feel and think on this subject, because here is the Prophet Moses stuck in the wilderness leading a bunch a people still sanding on unsolid ground of faith. They begin to blasphyme and cry out against God in regards to whether or not he would protect them or help them, and why had he not yet provided for there need. Some are looking around this morning and saying why has God not provided. I am a child of God and I finding someone leftovers in the garbage to eat. I got faith but this is ridiculous. Then you got children of God that say I never had to beg, borrow, steal, or eat leftovers out of a garbage bin to survive. They claim their wealth comes from God and the labor of their hands and they tithe every payday the fruit of their labor. Those that hit rock bottom that tithed, did all the right things, gave to the poor, and their church to the point they had nothing else to give.
The point being God taken Israel into the wilderness, under the direction of Moses and Aaron. Moses is hearing all the grumbling and complaining of people dying of thirst. Prophet Moses said God what am I going to do with these people dying of thirst are you going to help. Lord tells Moses go stand on this rock and hit it and water will pour out. Water pour out and the children drank. The people of doubt standing on sinking sand began to have faith and hope in a God of provision. We desire to see the move of God in our land like in the days of Moses, and our land is burying more potatoes then it can produce into french fries, dried Mash potatoes and so forth. Not enough workers to handle the load.
Then I wondering what happening in our land, because of one little illness. We truly do not realize the force and effect of each situation around our nation. How it truly effects the workers in our land. Our town been without trains running for over 6 years, or running full force up and down the track. Only what a sign of the economic struggle going on further in the coal fields and beyond. People have moved away for jobs and a better way of life. It effects everything jobs, resteruants, grocery stores, businesses, and the list continues.
The people had to cry out to Moses for water, not before their tongues were just begining to dry but as their mouth began to be dry and effect their situtation. They did not cry to God but to the Prophet Moses. Their need for the intercessor was causing a delay in their need. It has bad as red tape in the government that has to be cut out and is often times can be removed it acknowledged, when the process of need is known. Who going to know the need first the poor man, not the rich man, why because the poor man the one to suffer first and then the rich begin to feel it as they go to stores and market places, because they are limited by what can be purchased and picked up lines for groceries, ordering things online and not shopping in the stores anymore. The people Israel dying of thirst long before the need was known. Of course the poor knew first, probably because they do not have water surplus for their animals in the desert, and then a stink arises because of death and servants disappearing on the trail. Imagine by the time the elders heard the report, they are saying Moses we got to do something people are dying of thirst and it appears God does not care, what are we going to do. Your God Moses is not helping. There feet is not on solid ground.
Moses hits the rock before these elders as instructed by the Lord and water runs out. Not a little trickle but alot of water to feed all the thirsty people waiting with buckets, vessels, cups and pitchers to carry water, maybe even barrels to load up as well. The knowledge that God had provided is now apparent. God's provision because of prayer, and Moses not only standing on a rock but standing on the very word of God as instructed to do.
We must be willing to listen to God's instruction, and stand on his word the solid rock of our salvation. Jesus is the rock of our salvation. His word that anyone believeth in him will be saved for eternity. Begining of faith. Now when it comes to other stuff, God knows our need, but does it mean it always provided as we desire, the answer is no. It may be manna in the wilderness or quail which means we are feed but not always with our hearts desire. The word in which we thirst for is not always our heart desire in every since desire, but God word is sweet as honey and sometimes bitter to the soul, because of our desire is not of God.
John is standing in sand when the beast arises out of the sea. He not standing on solid rock, he standing in sand on the beach. But it is medaforic in a since because the beast that rises only stands until God says Son go set my people free. The point being This beast that rises is not on solid ground but coming out of the ocean onto the seashore of blasphyme. Be careful when it comes to antedote of a virus is it coming by the knowledge of God or the knowledge of man only. Is this vaccine coming from powers that wish to control the world. If it is consider who gave that power to them but God alone.
There is a point when we segregate ourselves from the world, are we segregating from God's ability to allow the devil to rise and the devil to appear to have power, when in truth God is still in control by provisions of the world. Beware of what we see happening in our land and around the world. Evil looks like friends for a time, but in truth they are just evil. Stand on the solid rock of God's word what will happen to God's people and to those against God, weight the hope eternity of peace and no suffering or peace and safety in the world we live in here and now. Israel in the wilderness was ready to perhaps seek other gods, when Moses prayed for direction to God.
We have to ask, is our leaders praying right now. I know the republicans shut down the stimulus package til 2021 tax year. However I have to ask did they know how their people were going to vote for 2020 election and knew it look as democrats had more control. No they will make it hard this year then last if they can, because they know the republicans will not let them be successful in the land. If it is only a sign of what is to come, it only saying the parties still are not willing to work together in a crisis or in time of need of the people. They are still playing the numbers game.
The point is as long as we trust in God even with our government playing numbers, we are standing on God's word for our needs to be met and our desires that fill our soul to the brim, as we rejoice by faith in all God is doing in our land and the world around us despite those claiming science only will solve the problems of our world.
Dear Heavenly Father help us reach up knowing you will place our feet on word by the word coming forth as water came forth from the rock in a dry an thirsty land. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
Thanksgiving Day Countdown Day 6: Thankful for God's Holy Word that teach us to stand faithful in times of struggle and hardship.
Continual Scripture Study:Revelation 13:1-4 KJV
1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.
3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.
4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?
