Thanksgiving Of Truth 11/28/2019
Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris1Timothy 4:1-11 KJV
1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
6 If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.
7 But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.
8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
9 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.
10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.
11 These things command and teach.
Are we thankful this thanksgiving? I often wonder if I truly thankful as I should be, not because I am ungrateful, but perhaps there so many suffering in our world. The lack of food for some is only part of the picture, it also the waste of food that is issue by others. I can remember sitting to dinner and told to eat what we are having for dinner, even if you do not like it. It the idea, that you must learn to eat things even that you do not like, because it is healthy for you one and two it will feed you when your hungry when things are not so plentiful that you like. It sounds nutty when you look at the grocery store or a garden planted by hand. Is there anything wrong with being a vegetarian, absolutely not, but there nothing wrong with eating meat according to scripture. God gave Noah meat to be eaten. Why was meat given, my own theory, is when the ark landed, the earth was in the process of being restore in the since of herbs and fruit. Grass might grow quickly, but other things take time, Animals would of foraged for food as well. However there was sacrifice before Noah, so it possible Adam and Eve ate meat. Now all meat was edible. The point being meat was okay to be consumed it was a gift from God. It not something you have to receive but it not harmful to eat meat.
There always be false doctrines that people try and follow that have no clue what scripture says. Some people forbid some to marry, they follow doctrines of devils and depart from faith. Paul is warning Timothy the things that can happen. Yet Paul also warns about how to be thankful, to receive everything with prayer, because it sanctified by God's word. He also tells Timothy to receive it with thanksgiving. As I fixed my turkey this year, I took and deboned the turkey and debated as a rolled it with stuffing in the middle like a log if it would taste good. I can say I received it with thanksgiving because it tasted good, or because in truth I am told to receive it with thanksgiving by the Word of God. No I received with thanksgiving because it tasted good and because the word of God had sanctified that turkey already. The meat is kind of metaphor of life in regards of receiving the things of or from God. If God gives you something be thankful for it. Follow the guideliness of God by staying away from doctrines of deviles and old wives tales. There many legends with basic point, yet do these stories take away from God. Many of us have read Aesop fables knowing they often speak truth, these things might not be harmful, but gossip is and the things is if gossip is harmful one needs to stay away from it. Need to stay away from idolatry, and things pertaining to devils. Yet things of this life is to be received with thanksgiving that is good and profitable to the health and well being of all individuals.
As Americans celebrate Thanksgiving and the rest of the world that reads this site consider what it means to be thankful, I hope that you receive the things of God and the joy the Lord with the hope of each new season in your life. We must consider the attitude of the heart and thankfulness for Christ our Savior who we celebrate birthday came to earth through Virgin birth to save us through his death on the cross and resurrection. Can we receive Christ the gift from God or do we reject God's gift and not realize how precious our hope can and should be in Christ.
Thanksgiving to God is not seasonal, it meant to be all year around, but to take a time to remind us to be thankful only helps us to understand our own ingratitude in life. The reminder of God's grace and that our heart should be filled with song of thanksgiving and not concerned with things of untruth. Be concerned with truth and not the lies and cover ups of the devil, he is not for you, but only out to destroy you. God's truth will set you free, and truth might hurt at times, but what it does is only destroys lies.
Dear Heavenly Father thank you for your truth of your word that we all cherish that believe truth because you bring us peace to our hearts even when truth hurts and we receive. In Jesus precious name, Amen. Continual Scripture Study for Devotion: Genesis 9:1-5 KJV
1 And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.
2 And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.
3 Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.
4 But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.
5 And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man's brother will I require the life of man.http://www.turtle30cshell.com
