Tradition Of Sacrifice 11/27/2019
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisLeviticus 7:1-21 KJV
1 Likewise this is the law of the trespass offering: it is most holy.
2 In the place where they kill the burnt offering shall they kill the trespass offering: and the blood thereof shall he sprinkle round about upon the altar.
3 And he shall offer of it all the fat thereof; the rump, and the fat that covereth the inwards,
4 And the two kidneys, and the fat that is on them, which is by the flanks, and the caul that is above the liver, with the kidneys, it shall he take away:
5 And the priest shall burn them upon the altar for an offering made by fire unto the LORD: it is a trespass offering.
6 Every male among the priests shall eat thereof: it shall be eaten in the holy place: it is most holy.
7 As the sin offering is, so is the trespass offering: there is one law for them: the priest that maketh atonement therewith shall have it.
8 And the priest that offereth any man's burnt offering, even the priest shall have to himself the skin of the burnt offering which he hath offered.
9 And all the meat offering that is baken in the oven, and all that is dressed in the fryingpan, and in the pan, shall be the priest's that offereth it.
10 And every meat offering, mingled with oil, and dry, shall all the sons of Aaron have, one as much as another.
11 And this is the law of the sacrifice of peace offerings, which he shall offer unto the LORD.
12 If he offer it for a thanksgiving, then he shall offer with the sacrifice of thanksgiving unleavened cakes mingled with oil, and unleavened wafers anointed with oil, and cakes mingled with oil, of fine flour, fried.
13 Besides the cakes, he shall offer for his offering leavened bread with the sacrifice of thanksgiving of his peace offerings.
14 And of it he shall offer one out of the whole oblation for an heave offering unto the LORD, and it shall be the priest's that sprinkleth the blood of the peace offerings.
15 And the flesh of the sacrifice of his peace offerings for thanksgiving shall be eaten the same day that it is offered; he shall not leave any of it until the morning.
16 But if the sacrifice of his offering be a vow, or a voluntary offering, it shall be eaten the same day that he offereth his sacrifice: and on the morrow also the remainder of it shall be eaten:
17 But the remainder of the flesh of the sacrifice on the third day shall be burnt with fire.
18 And if any of the flesh of the sacrifice of his peace offerings be eaten at all on the third day, it shall not be accepted, neither shall it be imputed unto him that offereth it: it shall be an abomination, and the soul that eateth of it shall bear his iniquity.
19 And the flesh that toucheth any unclean thing shall not be eaten; it shall be burnt with fire: and as for the flesh, all that be clean shall eat thereof.
20 But the soul that eateth of the flesh of the sacrifice of peace offerings, that pertain unto the LORD, having his uncleanness upon him, even that soul shall be cut off from his people.
21 Moreover the soul that shall touch any unclean thing, as the uncleanness of man, or any unclean beast, or any abominable unclean thing, and eat of the flesh of the sacrifice of peace offerings, which pertain unto the LORD, even that soul shall be cut off from his people. How often things we do can easily be misinterpreted? I on my website started 25 day countdown over ten years ago, this site been open since 2006. 25 day was the original countdown came about because of the American traditions I continually place on my website and it happens to be Thanksgiivng month so I made it a month of praise, and has nothing to do with original day of Thanksgiving that is celebrated because of the first feast of the Pilgrims in the New World desire to find that place they could worship God in freedom and in truth. Now if I took my tradition and said this is the way we ought to celebrate thanksgiving it would mean was I talking to the nation or to individual group. Traditions get started many different ways and through the years confusion begans on how they original started. Oprah did one that was after I started mine, and so the world often thinks Oprah started it as far as the month of gratitude and I followed her tradition and I did not. Well if the world gets more thankful perhaps that is a beginning of something for the world, but my thankfulness came from joy of the Lord and the things he has provide in my life, even if it been through the help of others.
Why rant about thanksgiving and traditions, what is the point. Well i got to thinking on these sacrifical laws. If the whole foundation of faith is based on belief how much is tradition confusing belief with traditions. Give some thought in this why were laws of sacrifice being taught in the desert. What purpose did they have. a Holy sacrifice is different then just a regular sacrifice, why because just a sacrifice by itself was outside the sanctuary of fellowship. Why was meat burned after three days. It was deemed unsafe to eat so it had to be destroyed. How long can meat and other things be set out in open air before it spoils. Today the time frame can even be shorter depending on where you live and environment. Deserts are often cold at night a form of refrigation. Whatever is not eaten would be sacrificed or destroyed, A waste of good meat or bread. If you ate of spoil meat it probably would kill you or you would wish you were dead. It like mayonaise a time ago being very dangerous to leave out for long periods of time especially in heat. To teach people not to waste food eaten, one had to plan how much to bring to dinner at the temple as well as at home. Less waste meant less sacrifice.
Christ became a sacrifice for the nation to cause peace with humanity for God. Yet God declared his peace through the resurrection for Christ had said Father forgive them on the cross. His very presents showed the world his forgiveness. Hold wait what did I say. Let take a look at scripture it says man could not offer a sacrifice a third day. Christ rose a third day. He can no longer be sacrificed, he can no longer be consumed as sacrifice. His body being the blood of the meat offering the bread of the bread offering. Why is this? Examine for a moment the sacrifice of Christ had to do with the crowd he kept stirring was getting much public attention, the High Priest in the book of John prophesied saying Jesus must die for the nation. Man sacrifices Christ who was bringing hope to the world, only to kill him, because of his authority and power was rising in the nation making it more difficult on religious leaders to keep control of the people. People see President Trump as a leader of many circles which causes many people to want him as president. Now is the democratic party upset, perhaps, but are they trying to put him injusticely through the cleaners. Time will tell. Trump is not a Messiah, though he might have business sense, he only a man and a very mortal one at that in office. Yet what we see is Israel sacrficing their own beliefs to keep peace with the nation of Rome, and not desiring to stir up more trouble as they had with the Assyrian Empire. Get rid of the prophet, get rid of the uprising, though he doing so much good. Unfortunately killing someone never ceased and uprising always made it worse. In truth it is very thought disturbing that Priesthood was willing to sacrifice one of their own.
What does the sacrifice in Leviticus really have to do with the sacrifice of Christ it is a type of metaphor or prophesy of the coming Messiah and the sacrifice of being lead to the slaughter. Prophesy can be seen in many things as allegory, or metaphor, much like a parable. It is abstract thought or realization of a process to help fully develop understanding of a situation that is present or will come. The cycle of life is spoken of in scripture, from being to end to hope, to destruction to rebuilding to the hope of a future. Israel long for that relationship with God in peace, but were not willing to fight for it. Yet the way Christ taught to fight for faith was through teaching and love, despite persecution. God will bring peace back to the world every time, if people will heed and live it.
Can we love this upcoming national holiday of thanksgiving. Can we love and be thankful to God and honor God for our freedoms that we can celebrate his love for us. Perhaps as we think on these things and tradition of the Jewish people of the law of sacrifice and consequences of not obeying this law meant possible death, we can on glean that life will be better for the world to understand God loves them. And Jesus was willing to do His Father's will by teaching peace and hope and redemption to mankind. The story did not end there it continues on today.
Dear Heavenly Father the rebel rouser of our century have no clue of the peace you desire between them and you. Lord let your light so shine in the world of people that know you not, so your peace comes forth to the world for ever more. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
Thanksgiving Countdown: Day 27: Thank you Lord for your sacrifice to bring peace to man, to teach them they can not destory you, only reject you. And your free gift of acceptance is for all mankind. Continual Scripture Study for Devotion: John 11:47-53 KJV
47 Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles.
48 If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation.
49 And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all,
50 Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.
51 And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation;
52 And not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad.
53 Then from that day forth they took counsel together for to put him to death.
