Tell Of God's Wonderful Works
11/26/2019

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Psalms 26:1-12 KJV
1 A Psalm of David. Judge me, O LORD; for I have walked in mine integrity: I have trusted also in the LORD; therefore I shall not slide.
2 Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart.
3 For thy lovingkindness is before mine eyes: and I have walked in thy truth.
4 I have not sat with vain persons, neither will I go in with dissemblers.
5 I have hated the congregation of evil doers; and will not sit with the wicked.
6 I will wash mine hands in innocency: so will I compass thine altar, O LORD:
7 That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works.
8 LORD, I have loved the habitation of thy house, and the place where thine honour dwelleth.
9 Gather not my soul with sinners, nor my life with bloody men:
10 In whose hands is mischief, and their right hand is full of bribes.
11 But as for me, I will walk in mine integrity: redeem me, and be merciful unto me.
12 My foot standeth in an even place: in the congregations will I bless the LORD.

David a great King of Israel would exammed his mindset of his faith and belief and found himself to have integrity as far as believing God and not doubting him. He asked God to judge him and to test him, and to see if God ruled his heart. David believe he had walked in the God's truth and even hated the assembly of the wicked. This is probably written before David great fall as a king. The early years of faith is probably the most conceited years of faith. It not always because of dishonesty, but the purity of faith begins with simplicity of understanding about belief in God and how he consider the righteousness of man through faith in Christ/word. This examination of David heart would come, not when immediately asked but in time. The devil temptation of women and David's lust would cause him to commit adultry and even have the woman he caused to sin to loose her husband because of his sin. David got the woman pregnant and then put the woman's husband on the frontline of battle and he died. He betrayed one of his own service men. David temptation if looking at this Psalms makes one question the intergrity of King David and his heart that we can not examine.

Most people sometime in their life will follow some desire or temptation of faith. David impurity and sinfulness is only human, yet the test of God very real. God will take the tempter and use him to shift you and humble you. One might see themselves without sin since the day of salvation and fail to see their humanity. I can remember even in my youth ask God to help me understand my own sinfulness, or unrighteousness. Unrighteousness/impurity of faith. When one can not see their own short comings that is usually the first error. But to ask God to show you your weakness so you change, can be put through the fire is another thing and an act of humility. This is not a warning for you to ask for humility, for God will test you in his time, whether you ask for it or not. God test us for a purpose to teach and to demonstrate his love for humanity in our own sinfulness. At this point David is still in the hallelujah joy celebration of all the wonders of God and magnificent of God's marvelous works. David own righteousness he could not see himself standing with other sinners. David righteous had gone to head and not his heart. David would walk in his own ability before the Lord because in his eyes he had obeyed God from youth and for that reason he knew God would be merciful to him and he desired for this reason to stay in the congregation and be blessed. The lack of fear of God at this moment in this Psalms was before his sin with Bathesheba. His own weakness not yet discovered, or his own sinful ability was still etched in the law of God and he judge himself by outward appearance of obedience to God, not seeing the reality of the sinfulness of his own heart.

David desire no doubt to be humbled by God, for he never would have ask God to test him. He desired himself to be perfect before God and not judged in the same way sinners were judge. It strange how many people can find at least that one flaw about themselves and magnify it, but fail to see their own disobedience to God even with in the sin they flaunt. David could see his own righteousness by his eyes, but not through the eyes of God. No matter your sin you are sinner in the same need as killer, thief, or rapist as far as the need of salvation before God. We do not have to be loathsome as far our sin in regards to what society considers loathsomeness is. We need to be judged by God as far as being evil or a sinner from his eyes. God judges all mankind the same way, all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God not deserving of his mercy, but his mercy freely given to all that will receive it.

To stand before God in full nakeness is to see the loathsomeness of ourselves. Sin is anything that is against God's original design for man. If I make a box and decide this box is designated for my cat to sleep in, and will my cat decides he will take his toys and pile them up in the box, he has changed the purpose of the box to something he rather use it for and not my intent. Now if my cat crawls into the box and uses it to sleep in, then the intend purpose of the box is now being used. I guarantee if you give a child a toy and perhaps he understands proper use of such a toy, he will then take that same toy and try using it some other way. God created man and woman and designed them for a purpose and man does just the opposite by obeying the serpent in the garden. God intend purpose of having us in the garden was so we would follow his instruction and have fellowship with him. If parent refuses to speak to a child because of his disobedience has the parent failed or the child. The parent failed the child not because he fail to instruct the child, but because he fail to allow the child to be individual outside his authority. God design is perfect, not imperfect as man's designs.

God takes his command and say did I not warn you what would happen when you ate the fruit to Adam and Eve, to when you yield to temptation despite your righteousness before the sin. God is judging you for that sin and punishment is placing you outside God's home to live, because in God's home there is no unrighteousness. By facing God choice of punishment one is no longer in heaven, but faced with reality of our own weakness that caused the separation of Adam and Eve from Eden. David with his sin, it became public and his wretchness so great that it almost cost him his kingship on earth. Yet this Psalm is written before the sin, before his wickness had been uncovered or revealed, his own humanity seen clearly. His need for salvation only fully understand in the gross state of sin that can not be undone.

If you walking in Eden you walking in time of innocents and being naive about your own sinfulness. One's own desire in opposition to God is not yet revealed, and to sing and praise God is simple. In fact it is so simple because the songs of faith is sung by innocents of a child/baby christian, who has not yet discovered the sin of the world or their own wickness, but see themselves standing in the light of God upon faith. Our sinfulness will make us fall, Our ability to sing God's wonderful works after the fall is different then before the fall. We sing of God's mercy and salvation through his declaration of hope for the repented man, through the obedience first of sacrifice of the lamb, to the sacrifice of God's Son for sin. What we find in our humility and our weakness is unworthiness to be forgiven but God marvelous grace which we sing and declare to the world of God marvelous grace in our life.

Why did disciples in Acts 2 begin to declare God marvelous works in many languages because the Jews present in Jerusalem at Pentecost as well as any gentile's were from many surround areas. They began to preach and expound on God's marvelous works of salvation after explain how they were able to do this by empowerment of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost declared by the prophet Joel. Let us examine the before the sin, after the sin, the salvation coming from God because of His love for us. Meaning he justified us through his grace. Disciples over a month before Pentecost had seen Christ death and resurrection. Even the disciples ran and denied being Christ disciple, but upon the resurrection they declared themselves has his disciples willing to face their own cross if necessary for the sake of the kingdom. Their own cross was about carrying the Gospel of God's love and declare the works of God to the nation of Israel and to the gentiles because of God's grace in their own life.

When we understand God's grace in our sinfulness, and one see their own need to repent because God is offering salvation that is all we need to know to bring us to our knees and receive God's marvelous grace, to receive his hope and his peace. Salvation is always a individual choice, but it a free gift. It is because of this gift we live on this earth not as we desire, but following after God's way because of His love for us, to surrender to God desire for our life. To carry the cross of Jesus, of His mercy and love while dying for our sins. God gave up his happiness in heaven to allow us to be as we were following our own desires, only to discover God's way was best. Can we make our own mistakes by understanding first they are not God's intent, but it does not free us from His love for us. Can we accept Him as Lord and follow Him because he gives us a choice we must make on our own. To desire to please God is to do it God's way. Noah build the ark God's way before sinning by getting drunk. Jonah was doing it God's way until he was told to go to Nineveh. Moses will has you know he did it God's way until his anger got the best of him and he hit that rock extra strike more then God told him too to get water from it. Yet God did not forsake man, man forsook God. Until we see the need of God in our life, our salvation is only for people that are more loathsome then ourselves. If we only stay in Eden we can not understand God's marvelous grace, yet sin is to be shunned, our sin is not to be obtaining, but it is to help us understand our humanity of our own willingliness to fall God, that we ourselves do not do things God's way either and deserving of death and He is a holy God that love us and desires peace with us, because he knows we do things we do not know we do. It like visiting a friend and staying over night only to discover they start their coffee maker at a different time then they do and to change it would mess up their ritual of when they drink their coffee in their house. To upset their schedule might only be for a day, but to do it everyday, might cause a total upset. How easy it to do it a friends way instead of changing it to your own way for tolerance sake, but how easy is it to change it on a permanent bases. Everyone has rules in their own house and when you upset the apple cart in someone else house so to speak you really did it. God sent man to earth to learn about humanity, God ways and the devil's ways. God wants each of us to understand his way is better. God only ask you to change those things that are harmful to you and others, when we choose to follow Him. Drunk people rehabitilation begins when understands to follow after Christ, the booze 24/7 going to have to stop, for his life to become a working vessel for God, and for the drug addict understanding something going to have to change for his health. What does this means, choosing not to do it in our ability but allowing God control so we do it by his power working in our life. Some things we might be able to change for a time, but temptation only forces us to revert back, if we do it in our ability and not Christ ability to help us overcome. Dieting the Lord's way is healthier then dieting by some of the lastest fads. Think sometimes what God served would not be today's standards as far as being consider a healthy diet.

What the point if God gives to the poor a huge chocolate cake and says eat it, realize God not only taking care of a desire but feeding what is needed for the body. God taking care of the body and soul. Jesus tells his disciples before sending them out not to refuse what is set before you to eat, some would say this day and age one might want too, but God protection is greater. Did not Paul not get bitten by a poison viper and did not even get sick. How much faith do we have in this day and age, some would say not as much as Paul. Examine yourself how much faith do you have to go and share the Gospel, knowing your safety is not based on your ability but God's. Christ came to redeem us, to set us free, will you help set others free. At the end of the Psalms we see David saying I stand in my own integrity and I need to be redeemed. From the first not understanding his humanity or need because of his sinfulness, but not understanding his need for redemption and mercy, but asking for it. Thus God would show David his own weakness through the mercy seat of God as he stands in the congregation of his peers loosing almost his whole kingdom.

Dear Heavenly Father, it easy to talk about your grace and your freedom, yet it even harder to talk about your protection and divine intervention in our life, because we know some do not understand the power is not in their ability but all in your ability to do wonders and works in our life. Let us sing of marvelous salvation, and love for the world. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Thanksgiving Countdown: Day 26: Thank you God for your marvelous works.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion: Act 2:5-12 KJV
5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.
6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.
7 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?
8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?
9 Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,
10 Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,
11 Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.
12 And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?
