Understand The Will Of The Lord To Praise Him
11/24/2019

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Ephesians 5:17-21 KJV
17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

How often do we think of the will of God for our lives is some huge feet of accomplishment. We think it be note worthy like Noah and ark, or Samson that caused the temple to fall because the strength that came from hair. Perhaps like David a great king, and a giant slayer. Maybe we see ourselves as the mother or father of some great leader, or scientist of our time. Maybe we think the will of God is for us to walk in intergrity of our being, only to find our feet stumbling and falling with humility. What is the duty of man but to rise and get up and do his work, to yield to the will of God despite our misinformation on the will of God. God commands even the devils to speak his truth for a time. Even sent a lying angel to deceive the enemy once. Yet the truth of the matter is what is God willing to do in our life. No it not about how God is going to move in our life, but his will for us to worship and honor him in our daily life. God does not need us overflowing in excess of who Christ is, he needs us to be filled with His Spirit. A type of discipline of the amount we need not to control, but to offer him praise on our lips and sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs, to sin and make melody in our heart to the Lord. What does this mean.

I like to get excited and shout and sing about Jesus, most believers do, even if they express not the same way. Yet what is this about excess. Not to be loud, this would be outside the congregation, perhaps in the workplace, or home, when one is learning to give thanks with the heart for the things God grants them. To learn to say thank you Lord over a slice of bread, or a piece of food. In truth the excess is about humility of thanksgiving, and not to be riotness or drunken party attitude. There is time of celebration and time of humble thanksgiving for the things God does in our daily life. To know the difference can only be understood at the heart as we sing and remember songs in our heart through out the day, as we are busy doing other things. To rejoice in our heart with our lips, with our thoughts. No we need not to go about shouting every moment of the day. We are not be drunk as if filled with wine, but walk in quietness and meekness of faith with thanksgiving in our hearts. one might even go as far as saying don't be drunk in appearance as if you can not control your being or vessel to be a vessel of honor to God.

I think of Grandfather whistling as he walked through the church he pastor, the church empt and the old hymns of faith just coming from his lips reminding me of the lyrics of those hymns. Of the different family members or friends singing a bit of tune that seemed etched in their mind as they approach either myself or another, as if the song or melody had a purpose of coming from one's lips. If nothing but a reminder of how we need to be with the songs of praise to God on our hearts. That continual praise that we sometimes put aside because of our activity and thoughts are on other things. We are to give thanks to God the Father and Jesus. Remember the Holy Spirit intercedes in our hearts the melody and tunes of faith, when we can not utter those words.

If you ever come to a place in your life where the spirit of God your thoughts of thanksgiving seems absents, there is nothing wrong with you, but it is absense, of the heart because of the blockage in your life, of the joy of the Lord in your life. It happens sometimes in grief, anger, that strong emotion or thought that disrupts the joy we truly have in Christ our Savior. Remember the joy and thanksgiving in your heart, the ability to sing is not needed in order to give thanks and praise to God. One only need to make it first in the heart and then a joyful noise to the Lord. It maybe even the rhythme of a piece of equipment seeming to run a tune in your head of a song of praise, yet it just the rumble of the machine, yet our heart beats with the tune in time with the machine. The knicks and clicks just the right rhythme for the song in our heads that we hear it reverberating our minds to give thanks to God. In the Disney movie Snow white the dwarfs sing a song called Whistle While You Work, and as dwarfs hammer, saw and do whatever they are singing. We do it even with other songs not of praise in our life, the sounds of song because of the rhythme of equipment we use. Then it comes out in our voice or through humming and whistling. Yet those are just rhythmes and not the heart necessarily. What the point, it is the deep soul of the words with meaning to God in private pray, song, and mediation. It more then just hearing a tune, because it memorized, it the sound of song deep with in that only God can hear. If we angry in the deepth of heart God hears it. If God hears also our sorrow deep within, how can we please our God.

Something must change in our hearts to hear the music of faith singing the worship of Him because of his magesty, because of his awesome works need to be proclaimed. What about the last sunset you seen, did you understand God's marvelous works. Did you understand God's beauty with in his handiwork. When the last time you enjoyed seeing something made or designed by someone. Why then, as humans do we fail to see the awesome wonder God's marvelous handi work in our lives, and beauty of His creation. Some might say you really don't know me, or my everyday thoughts, and I agree, I do not know you but God does. He knows the thanksgiving whether it be in your heart or not. One of the reason I like the outdoors it reminds me of God. If you go to a city and all you can see is walls and walls of buildings, you never truly see the sky, unless on the top of a building. At night in a city the lights are often to bright to see the sky, yet without the lights evil seems to exist in areas of darkness. Yet there is thousand a people created by God surround you in the city and God creation is before you some made of honor of who God is and some representing the devil and not the being who created them. No one lives up to who God created us to be fully, but are strive to be the person to honor and glorify God is part of God's will for our life. The word will seems unjust when it comes to praise, but it is God's will for us to give thanks.

Remember if you praise God outloud the world might not understand, unless you willing to give the interpretation, do not shout it from the roof top. If you not willing to explain your joy in the Lord to those thinking you are mad, or crazy, you are not living for the Lord. The truth of the matter one is to testify, but to do so it to do so to glorify God and not oneself. You can not be a light for God if all you want to do is let yourself shine to glorify your being. Be humble and honor God with what you do and what you say, may others see the light of God shining forth in your being, may the love of Christ be demonstrated in your heart.

Dear Heavenly Father bring the lips of praise to my lips to not honor myself or others, but to honor you. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Countdown To Thanksgiving: Day 24: Thank you Lord for the reminder that your will is for us to praise you in humbleness of our hearts and soul.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion: 1 Corinthains 14:14-17 KJV
14 For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.
15 What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.
16 Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest?
17 For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified.

Colossians 3:15-17 KJV
15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
