26 These were in the days of Joiakim the son of Jeshua, the son of Jozadak, and in the days of Nehemiah the governor, and of Ezra the priest, the scribe.
27 And at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought the Levites out of all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem, to keep the dedication with gladness, both with thanksgivings, and with singing, with cymbals, psalteries, and with harps.
28 And the sons of the singers gathered themselves together, both out of the plain country round about Jerusalem, and from the villages of Netophathi;
29 Also from the house of Gilgal, and out of the fields of Geba and Azmaveth: for the singers had builded them villages round about Jerusalem.
30 And the priests and the Levites purified themselves, and purified the people, and the gates, and the wall.
31 Then I brought up the princes of Judah upon the wall, and appointed two great companies of them that gave thanks, whereof one went on the right hand upon the wall toward the dung gate:
32 And after them went Hoshaiah, and half of the princes of Judah,
33 And Azariah, Ezra, and Meshullam,
34 Judah, and Benjamin, and Shemaiah, and Jeremiah,
35 And certain of the priests' sons with trumpets; namely, Zechariah the son of Jonathan, the son of Shemaiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Michaiah, the son of Zaccur, the son of Asaph:
36 And his brethren, Shemaiah, and Azarael, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Nethaneel, and Judah, Hanani, with the musical instruments of David the man of God, and Ezra the scribe before them.
37 And at the fountain gate, which was over against them, they went up by the stairs of the city of David, at the going up of the wall, above the house of David, even unto the water gate eastward.
38 And the other company of them that gave thanks went over against them, and I after them, and the half of the people upon the wall, from beyond the tower of the furnaces even unto the broad wall;
39 And from above the gate of Ephraim, and above the old gate, and above the fish gate, and the tower of Hananeel, and the tower of Meah, even unto the sheep gate: and they stood still in the prison gate.
40 So stood the two companies of them that gave thanks in the house of God, and I, and the half of the rulers with me:
41 And the priests; Eliakim, Maaseiah, Miniamin, Michaiah, Elioenai, Zechariah, and Hananiah, with trumpets;
42 And Maaseiah, and Shemaiah, and Eleazar, and Uzzi, and Jehohanan, and Malchijah, and Elam, and Ezer. And the singers sang loud, with Jezrahiah their overseer.
43 Also that day they offered great sacrifices, and rejoiced: for God had made them rejoice with great joy: the wives also and the children rejoiced: so that the joy of Jerusalem was heard even afar off.
44 And at that time were some appointed over the chambers for the treasures, for the offerings, for the firstfruits, and for the tithes, to gather into them out of the fields of the cities the portions of the law for the priests and Levites: for Judah rejoiced for the priests and for the Levites that waited.
45 And both the singers and the porters kept the ward of their God, and the ward of the purification, according to the commandment of David, and of Solomon his son.
46 For in the days of David and Asaph of old there were chief of the singers, and songs of praise and thanksgiving unto God.
47 And all Israel in the days of Zerubbabel, and in the days of Nehemiah, gave the portions of the singers and the porters, every day his portion: and they sanctified holy things unto the Levites; and the Levites sanctified them unto the children of Aaron.Where do some of our own traditions come from in United States of America? Where do our celebrations of harvest to our God come from? It comes from the very heart of scripture. To leave the Old Testament out you have to leave the time of celebration of the wall, first fruits and so forth out of scripture, and the cymbals of faith of worship is now annilated from existence of what it truly means to worship God, for the New Testament though speaks of song, you get more of actual teaching of Christ and not the psalms of faith etched through ministry. Though songs of David are mentioned even in the New Testament, there is songs and celebration before the time of David and after the time of David etched in Israel history and the history recorded in scripture to the beginning of mankind. Eve praised the Lord for the birth of a son. Seth, Eve's third son gave praise to God in congregation in the since of corporate worship. Yet we get to Nehemiah when Israel in the Old Testament is being restored and celebration for the wall of the city for their protection has been finished. A huge celebration to celebrate the city wall of their God.
What is the city of Jerusalem but the city of God, the place of God's house and the city of kings. If we wanted to compare the city of Jerusalem to Washington DC it be short lived because even their cathedral is not consider the house of God to some in our nation. No DC has many churches and places of idolatry but it has no central church in the since of all Christian believers in one accord, not one single house designated as the house of worship because of the differences in faith today. If we examine israel today we find the there is a third temple that is being resurrected from the times of the ancients. Why are temples or houses of worship so important to Israel alone, perhaps it represents the welcoming of God, faith and hope in land. The resurrection of the Jerusalem wall represents protection. Trump's wall is in the process of being reopened in certain section or is being discussed to be opened that was closed. Not sure the full details on it, only seen a brief insert on the news about it. What a wall does is keep people on foot and small vehicles from coming through illegally and it protects the city or place it surrounds. Walls have been built since before Israel, yet the walls of Jericho fell. The wall of East Berlin fell as well, no longer keeping people in or out. Korea has a wall, not fully openned yet in regards to people being able to leave freely to see family and love ones. Yet what we see by walls is a separation from the world of those thing on the other side. Jerusalem is suppose to be an area segregated in the since of holiness to the God of Israel but it is not that, nor has it fully ever been segregated to just God.
If we want to think for a moment on Israel it mimicks the garden of Eden. Eden was God's home, yet Satan lived there too, for how else did the Serpent tempt Eve into eating the fruit. A day coming when the devil will long walk among God's people tempting them. Yet the time of paradis is not yet. The impurity of Jerusalem came with allowing the countries of the world to enter in to see the great palaces of the king of Israel. Yet the wall established to protect from the outside world. The story of the helen of troy is only a reminder how enemy of the city crept in to win a victory. Devils have been entering into Christian and Jewish world by coming in by being welcomed not by a closed door or wall. A wall will not keep drug smugglers out, it only makes then more inventive on how to hide their illegal activities as they come through the gate or through the air by means of travel. It means the profile of just illegal immigrant just became smarter and those that looks more professional are seen as potential drug smugglers of our world.
Devil has been masking itself as people of great wealth to see kings and Presidents for centuries. The wall alone only protects against a huge attack in regards to civilians crossing the border on foot, including machine guns of destructiion. Israel gets their wall up, a symbol of protection made with human hands. Israel began to thank God for the wall with praise and sacrifice. Those in attendance came from all over, mainly of the levitical tribe in one place, because they had to dedicate the wall to God. The celebration of thanksgiving for a way to protect their beautiful city of their God. To outsiders this seems ridiculous even mockable, because if their God is so huge and this is his city, does he need protection? Yet what we see is a ceremony of the heart of a nation. The ceremony of giving God praise for the ability to build such a wall to protect the people and their nations kings. Yet it more of a symbol of completion of a work for their nation. If our nation celebrated each building and each construction, one would be seeing more then a ribon cutting ceremony of public leaders and business owners. Yet what we see in the time of Israel the people of God and their priesthood coming in celebration of the wall of protection built with human hands. Business world would once again restablish the celebration of God's power over business world.
God had Noah build the ark, he sealed the door for Noah and HIs family protection. If God sealed the gate of Jerusalem the devil would never been able to enter through those gates. The gates of Eden are protected with the flaming swords of serphim. Israel walls came tumbling down once more only because of the enemy within it gates. Americans had their first thanksgivng with people of faith in God and in the deity/deities of indians. Our nation being shaped by celebration with neighbors of our land that cared enough to make our stay comfortable. Sometimes the compassion of heathens are more so then the compassion of the believer. These people were stranded for months in America, without the ability to leave. Our world is spoiled by the ability to pack our bags and just leave, but it does not guarantee protection of food, water, shelter or security once gone from the protection of a home. People left England and Europe in mode of escaping persecution, only to find a land after a difficult winter, of milk and honey. America is it still a land of milk and honey? Is it still a land of freedom where the celebration of the new world is still in our hearts to God or is the harshness of our world so etch that God can not hear the celebration in heaven of our hearts in thanksgiving unto Him. Can Mexico and Canada hear our celebration without media?
Israel celebration to God was heard all over the land. It was not just a small festival of a wall being resurrected, it was shout of hallejulah heard across the surrounding areas. What this means is it not only the songs of the voice of Israel was heard but the celebration was also in one accord in celebration to Jehovah in the land of milk and honey. Horns and trumpets, the cymbals and flutes played. Yet the sounds of harps were even heard outside the city to the nation of Israel of the dedication of the wall and the nations outside Israel heard it too. Either there not that many miles or that is one huge sound that was heard around the land of Israel to the heathen nations. No doubt the echoes off the hill country helped with the sound traveling, but it was more then just echo that was heard.
This celebration will be much like the celebration when Christ return after the devil is destroyed and the New Heaven and a New Earth is established. The wall of protection between the New Earth and Eternal lake of fire will be permanent, there will be no more hell. The wall is permanent. The fact is we see symbolic of Jerusalem as being much like the garden of Eden before temptation, perhaps that why God wants to give us paradise to all that beleive in His salvation plan, is way of protection through eternity call belief in His Son belief in Him, belief of faith. The wall of faith surrounds the believer in Christ, the wall of Israel only a symbol of the hope of protection. God's protection greater still.
We must define the protection of a wall by human hands and the protection of faith. Protection of faith is a seal of eternity, the protection built by human hands is destructable without the will of God protection. Why say will, the ark was protected by the will and seal of God. The city of God's people is only as protected as the will of God, the wall only a symbol of God's protection. God's people are only protected on earth by God's will for each individual life. Is God protection worth celebrating, so those around us hear it far and wide. Is God's protection on our life worth celebrating in regards to eternal hope of salvation. Should the song of our salvation be heard loud and wide, through out the ages of this world. If we know God's prophecy is true, then we know God's hope is true, then we can take his salvation as eternal hope of faith for eternity. Is this worth singing about. Israel had the symbol of their faith intact, that all that wall was for them. Their joy in their heart was heard through the world they lived in. The enemy knew that Israel hope was restored. The rebuilding of Israel seem perhaps to some as a waste of time. Yet it is a symbol of eternal hope God brings to his people. God's everlasting hope of a new heaven and a new earth, with the devil complete destroyed The evil of this world still comes through walls that man builds. The walls man builds only slows evil down.
Are the walls of faith crumbling or are they being built and celebrated in thanksgiving to God. Even the angels of heaven rejoice over each sinner saved by grace. Every angel sings, why are we not singing the praise of our God in celebration that even the neighbors hear it, because of our laws made to protect those that do not wish to listen. As facebook followers block each other to close off the sound of each other, it is only a symbol of not desiring to hear anymore. Yet the sounds can still be heard outside the wall of computer land if you listen. Block the world with headphones, only leaves those that are the same as you outside of your wall, and the missing of fellowship while the world closes you off. Christians we live in a time we can speak even more freely and you know God is never blocked by headphones to those needing to hear, so lift your voice a little louder next time. The wall of sinful world will crumble as they hear about God love for them.
Dear Heavenly Father you grace is sufficient for our thanksgiving unto you should be heard through out the land not as hypocrite in the streets but in fellowship with others that will praise you. I look on facebook and some are afraid to even say thank you Lord this thanksgiving in praise to you. May those of us willing to say Thank you Lord lift our voice, don't worry about the blocks, help us continue praising you with the voice of song. For Lord you hear us in our silence praise of words as well as the vocal praise. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
Countdown to Thanksgiving: Day 23: Thank you for the wall of protection around each believer.
Continual Scripture Study for Devotion:Revelation 21:10-27 KJV
10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,
11 Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;
12 And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:
13 On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates.
14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
15 And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof.
16 And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.
17 And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.
18 And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass.
19 And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald;
20 The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst.
21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.
22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.
23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.
25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.
26 And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it.
27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.
