God Turns The Heart

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Proverbs 21:1-31 KJV
1 The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.
2 Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.
3 To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.
4 An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.
5 The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.
6 The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.
7 The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.
8 The way of man is froward and strange: but as for the pure, his work is right.
9 It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.
10 The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.
11 When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.
12 The righteous man wisely considereth the house of the wicked: but God overthroweth the wicked for their wickedness.
13 Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.
14 A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.
15 It is joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.
16 The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.
17 He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.
18 The wicked shall be a ransom for the righteous, and the transgressor for the upright.
19 It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.
20 There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.
21 He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.
22 A wise man scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.
23 Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.
24 Proud and haughty scorner is his name, who dealeth in proud wrath.
25 The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour.
26 He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.
27 The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: how much more, when he bringeth it with a wicked mind?
28 A false witness shall perish: but the man that heareth speaketh constantly.
29 A wicked man hardeneth his face: but as for the upright, he directeth his way.
30 There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.
31 The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD.

If we think for a moment how Pharoah at the time of Egypt in Exodus, God harden his heart, did God allow Solomon to have wisdom to judge, only to have his own heart wrestle with the wisdom and instruction God gave him. How many of God's children wrestle with not only sin, but God's judgments and decrees in their life. Let me explain what I mean. When God is correcting us sometimes we have blinders on, and sometimes we are fully aware of what occuring in our life whether we openly sin, openly do right, and openly create havoc. There times we know we sin and there are times we sin unvoluntarily, it is those times that correction comes. If God can harden the heart then who are we to know how someone judges, we do not. We only know that God is always the victor no matter the outcome of a person's life.

Go to verse 30 there is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the Lord. God's wisdom is far greater then our own. God understanding and counsel is far greater then our own. What we have to reconcil is that God is doing a work in the human life and weighs the heart of man, whether they believe in him and desire to do good, or whether they believe not and desire only to do evil.

Romans chapter 9 through chapter 11 talks about this principal. It maybe some of the most philosophical statements in scripture. It speaks how God allows the world to make their decisions and how it is both individual and nations/groups of people. Now it does not mean either side can not switch from evil to good, or good to evil. What it means is God has the power to graffed a person again if they believe, repent and seek God's forgiveness. Some will never repent and never seek God even though God has sought them out, to change their heart or to use them so they know there is evidence of his presence and existence. Some point man must come to the acceptance of God authority and power, even if they obey not. Even Satan learned of God's power and authority and fell, and repented not. Satan day of judgment will come.

Reason perhaps Solomon study the philosophy of God to such a degree to weigh right and wrong is he struggled inwardly with God's judgment on sin, because of his own lust and desires, despite he would repent and offer the sacrifices to cleanse himself from sin, to only go and sin again. God would one day correct him and judge his heart.

Are we willing to allow God's judgment and wisdom in our life or do we want to avoid it all together. Well guess what we can not avoid it, because God is supreme. God is just and his mercy is greater then even his judgment, for Christ came to die for the entire world not just some of us. We only have to receive God's salvation to believe in Jesus Christ the Son of God the fullment of prophesy and protector of our soul for eternity if we have faith. We need to trust in God's mercy. For God said to Moses he will have mercy on whom I have mercy and have compassion on whom I will have compassion. What God talking about is the killing of those that bowed to the molten calf in the desert and those that died. Moses wrestled with the killing because of the ten commandments given.

To understand God can have mercy on us all, if we can understand that some believe not and then nations believe and then nation that believes can go into a time of unbelief. Meaning it is a cycle and a generation struggle of faith, but the nation that sins, does not effect the believer in faith beyond the exile of Babylon. For you see exile was Israel punishment for their sin and transgression. Yet the Gentile had been exiled from God for centuries because of unbelief. Yet no one was separated from God that believed by faith and strived to walk by faith alone meaning Jew and Gentile. That why we have the Holy Spirit to enable the believer.

Dear Heavenly Father, great is your love for man, you show mercy, judgment and love for each person born into the world and even to each that repent and call on your name. Help us to seek your love and mercy first and not wait on judgment. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Romans 9:15-18 KJV
15 For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.
17 For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.
18 Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.

Romans 11:13-36 KJV
13 For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:
14 If by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and might save some of them.
15 For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?
16 For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.
17 And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;
18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.
19 Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in.
20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:
21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.
22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.
23 And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in again.
24 For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be graffed into their own olive tree?
25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.
28 As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers' sakes.
29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
30 For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief:
31 Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.
32 For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.
33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!
34 For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor?
35 Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again?
36 For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.
