Purification Of The Soul 05/17/2021
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisProverbs 17:1-28 KJV
1 Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith, than an house full of sacrifices with strife.
Better to have a bite and quietness then to have a house that is full of sacrifices with anger/fighting. Meaning simply sometimes the simplicity is better then to have wealth of sacrifice with fighting or anger in the home. It is also has if Solomon wealth with sacrifice was causing him heartburn. Perhaps he notice someone who had not but had a least a dry crumb to eat.
2 A wise servant shall have rule over a son that causeth shame, and shall have part of the inheritance among the brethren.
3 The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the LORD trieth the hearts.
We do not have servants in the since of slavery in our country, but we do have people that still do the servant work as people that are hired for labor/work. Yet it was not a good thing for the servant to have power over the son in ancient days, but neither would be good for a hired person to have control over the child unless he is to young to not be without correction. See it makes the hire person equal to family with control. Sometimes that not a bad thing, but the power of hearing or being advise by the help could show a lack of ability, and lack of commitment in things of importance like in business affairs or rule.
The purifying of silver done with a pot and gold purified with a furnance. These things has to be purified to rid all the impurities out of it. Often children that are lead by the servants are in need of purifying like the Lord purifies his childrens hearts with his word, and test them to teach them and purify their soul.
4 A wicked doer giveth heed to false lips; and a liar giveth ear to a naughty tongue.
5 Whoso mocketh the poor reproacheth his Maker: and he that is glad at calamities shall not be unpunished.
Wick listen to lie, and gives an ear to those that tell lies. It is basically a rumor festival. Those you mock even the poor reproach God. The wises king of Israel was warning not to mock the poor, for he that is glad at calmaities shall not be unpunished. In others words what goes around comes around to those that mock get mocked. Some get mock that do not mock. It like someone making fun of someone that breaks a leg only to fall and break their leg. Much better to show compassion.
6 Children's children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers.
7 Excellent speech becometh not a fool: much less do lying lips a prince.
8 A gift is as a precious stone in the eyes of him that hath it: whithersoever it turneth, it prospereth.
It normal for children to be the pride of their father's or mother's. It is a natural thing to have pride in one's child because of their gifts and ability to hopefully do more then you ever hoped for. It is the bragging rights of parents.
Now in all reality what is acceptible of a fool and a prince, when a fool speaks equolently and a prince speaks lies. Rulers have a hard time not lying in this day and age, but as scripture says it does not look good, or any better when fool speaks wisely. These two opposites are now showing not their education, but one his inability to speak or be wise because of his foolishness in general and for the prince he shows a lack of education with his lying. Their lies only cause chaos and confusion.
A true gift is valuable like a precious stone, and no matter how it is used, it turns a profit, or bears fruit.
9 He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends.
10 A reproof entereth more into a wise man than an hundred stripes into a fool.
11 An evil man seeketh only rebellion: therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against him.
Does God seek our love, he does not need our love, but does he seek it? God covers our transgression in Solomon day it was through sacrifice his sins were forgiven. In the day of Christ til now our sins are covered by the blood of Jesus. He paying a debt he did not owe, yet he was not without guilt of man laws at the insurrection at the temple, for he turned the money changers tables over, because his Father's house would not be called a den of thieves. Because religion and legal laws were still much intwined even in the days of King solomon there was separation of religion and state. However the turning over the money changers tables in the temple was not the first time this matter happened. It also happen in the early years of Jesus ministry and perhaps is the reason this issue separated Judas and the religious leaders from Jesus. Alienation so to speak.
Verbal correction to a wise man is all he needs but a fool hundred lashes with a whip would never do. If you think did being spanked or whipped as a teenager ever change a teenagers mind, probably not, only either made them angry or teach them to take the punishment for the correction of the trouble they were in. Explaining why something is wrong might not work either, but it does leave a teen with a choice to either do it the right way or pay for their actions.
In truth did a cruel messenger speaking the wrath of God turn one to repentance, only if one has a ear of God, but often the wicked is only told of the wrath of God by a cruel messenger, either that what the cruel messenger thought they should hear or the one sending the messenger.
12 Let a bear robbed of her whelps meet a man, rather than a fool in his folly.
13 Whoso rewardeth evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house.
14 The beginning of strife is as when one letteth out water: therefore leave off contention, before it be meddled with.
15 He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD.
16 Wherefore is there a price in the hand of a fool to get wisdom, seeing he hath no heart to it?
17 A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.
18 A man void of understanding striketh hands, and becometh surety in the presence of his friend.
19 He loveth transgression that loveth strife: and he that exalteth his gate seeketh destruction.
20 He that hath a froward heart findeth no good: and he that hath a perverse tongue falleth into mischief.
21 He that begetteth a fool doeth it to his sorrow: and the father of a fool hath no joy.
22 A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.
23 A wicked man taketh a gift out of the bosom to pervert the ways of judgment.
24 Wisdom is before him that hath understanding; but the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth.
25 A foolish son is a grief to his father, and bitterness to her that bare him.
26 Also to punish the just is not good, nor to strike princes for equity.
Let a bear loose her whelps meet a man, I think not, then a fool is own folly. That one angry bear looking for revenge and the fool not looking for trouble but he finds the trouble he created. Give a child a piece of candy for every thing he does especially if it cute soon will find a child with bad behaviors just to get a piece of candy. Buy a misbehaving child a toy in store will cause the child to misbehave even more when he wants something. You can not reward evil or you land up with evil remaining and never being corrected. You can not justifiably condemn the saved, if they marked by God, and you can not justify the wicked. Meaning you can not call something good if it is evil and you can not unsave the person that may or may not need correcting, but God will correct him or her if he is God's child. That child God is not without faults of this world, but being transformed by hand of God.
A minister walked into my room of the hospital and said I would be going to hell, if I died in my car wreck. I looked at her and said, Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior and I would have woken in paradise. Her words angered me for years, but I never understood why. I had no offering for a church, I had nothing to give but my talents. I wasn't using them, and I wasn't allowing God to use his gifts through me either. However she did not know me, but she thought she could judge me. I had others ask if I thought I was better then them, and my reply is that what you think, that not what I think.
It is time for us to stop putting what we think into people's heads as far as our own opinion of them, but realize that each person was created by God for a purpose. Whether to teach why evil not repeated or why following Christ is needed in the lives of the world. We look at our school systems, and though there many great kids, it is the evilness of this world that causes the good kids to look evil too. Where did Bible go but out the door of schools, where did legal law go in our schools and I will tell you out with the Bible. Truth is evil kids are not taught why good is good and bad is just plain wicked no matter the crime, or misbehavior. Fact is we all misbehave but not all remain in misbehavior once corrected. Those that misbehave need to see the truth of what good behavior will get them as far as respect in society. When drug dealers can play rock music, make tons of money, that what kids say they want too. Something got to change, but it has to start with the love of God who sent his only Son to die on the cross for our sins. His blood on the cross covered our sins.
27 He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.
28 Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.
Sometimes it better just to hold your peace, not to share a word, or speak knowledge. To much chatter is never good. To speak one thoughts is sometimes waste of time. People have to learn something on their own and other things they can be taught with fair speech.
The greatest lesson I ever learned were those things God spoke to my spirit about. Why because even if I did not get it right the second time, God's word were clear and wise. Who does believers wisdom come from but God and God is truly the one that teaches his people by his Spirit. For a believer to choose not the ways of God there is still consequences for action. However that sin does not take away God's love or his compassion has it did Cain in Gensis 4. In our humanity there are times when we just seem to get sprayed with mud, but other times only feet need washing. Meaning our salvation intact but our sin needs to be cleansed from us as Silver is put in a pot and gold through a furance, God will purge the sin from our life through his sanctification, fire of Spirit and testing of our soul. Yet the correction is to purify us for his kingdom and because of his love for us, and desire for us to be the best we can be.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank for your purification process in our life, let us not forget you purify you children, in Jesus precious name, Amen.
Continual Scripture Study: 1 Peter 1:3-25 KJV
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
10 Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:
11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
12 Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.
13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:
18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
