05/07/2021 Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris 1 My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee. 2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye. 3 Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart. 4 Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; and call understanding thy kinswoman: 5 That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger which flattereth with her words. 6 For at the window of my house I looked through my casement, 7 And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding, 8 Passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house, 9 In the twilight, in the evening, in the black and dark night: 10 And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart. 11 (She is loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house: 12 Now is she without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner.) 13 So she caught him, and kissed him, and with an impudent face said unto him, 14 I have peace offerings with me; this day have I payed my vows. 15 Therefore came I forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee. 16 I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved works, with fine linen of Egypt. 17 I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon. 18 Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves. 19 For the goodman is not at home, he is gone a long journey: 20 He hath taken a bag of money with him, and will come home at the day appointed. 21 With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him. 22 He goeth after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks; 23 Till a dart strike through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it is for his life. 24 Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth. 25 Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths. 26 For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by her. 27 Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death. Is the apple of the eye God's commandments or the way of sin and destruction that leads to hell. I read scripture and especially things Solomon wrote and his desire of his eye seem to be on the adultry and possession of women. God must of not seemed to be around according to Solomon, but God is everywhere, God is going to warn Solomon at some point about his many wives and lovers. He knowledge of how wrong it is, doesn't seem to deter this man in the street from going to the street of harlots or lovers. Yet his advice is to obey the commandments of God and to keep them as the apple of the eye. Mankind is suppose to follow the ways of God, but the king does the opposite. The humanity of Solomon shows that he knows how to teach wisdom of instruction but does not know how to yield not to his own lust of his flesh. There is no discipline or control of his appetite for sin. Modern day devil if you ask me, then I ask who of us have not fallen short of the glory of God, how many can claim to be without sin. Then I ask this is God's grace not to call us to sin, but to call us to righteousness of faith first and then to good works of faith called following his commands not just the ten but to demostrate the fruits of the Spirit. Fruits of the Holy Spirit is love, hope, faith, gentlenss, longsuffering and so forth. Love being the greatest demonstration of our life. Those that follow the harlot will land up in hell. And in truth the harlot is the thief of the man that belongs not to the harlot who steals from the wife and family. Take the man straight to the fiery pit and only for a moment to a plush bed chamber. Why then the man is caught in a snare a trap a place of sin. The harlot teaches wrong truths, and says everything is wonderful is teaching destruction and pleasure only for a moment. Let us follow the pathways of God and yield to his simple instruction to man, maybe the greatest instruction to love and to love others not as harlot but be empowered by the Holy Spirit from those things that will destroy the home and the life of mankind. Dear Heavenly Father, Help us to follow your commands and keep them as the apple of our eye, knowing that love is the greatest of all your commands. in Jesus precious name, Amen. Continual Scripture Study: Revelation 17:1-18 KJV1 And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters: 2 With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication. 3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. 4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: 5 And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. 6 And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration. 7 And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns. 8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is. 9 And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth. 10 And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space. 11 And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition. 12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. 13 These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast. 14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful. 15 And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues. 16 And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire. 17 For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled. 18 And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.
