Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Judges 7:1-25 KJV
1 Then Jerubbaal, who is Gideon, and all the people that were with him, rose up early, and pitched beside the well of Harod: so that the host of the Midianites were on the north side of them, by the hill of Moreh, in the valley.
2 And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me.
3 Now therefore go to, proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, Whosoever is fearful and afraid, let him return and depart early from mount Gilead. And there returned of the people twenty and two thousand; and there remained ten thousand.
4 And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people are yet too many; bring them down unto the water, and I will try them for thee there: and it shall be, that of whom I say unto thee, This shall go with thee, the same shall go with thee; and of whomsoever I say unto thee, This shall not go with thee, the same shall not go.
5 So he brought down the people unto the water: and the LORD said unto Gideon, Every one that lappeth of the water with his tongue, as a dog lappeth, him shalt thou set by himself; likewise every one that boweth down upon his knees to drink.
6 And the number of them that lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, were three hundred men: but all the rest of the people bowed down upon their knees to drink water.
7 And the LORD said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the other people go every man unto his place.
8 So the people took victuals in their hand, and their trumpets: and he sent all the rest of Israel every man unto his tent, and retained those three hundred men: and the host of Midian was beneath him in the valley.
9 And it came to pass the same night, that the LORD said unto him, Arise, get thee down unto the host; for I have delivered it into thine hand.
10 But if thou fear to go down, go thou with Phurah thy servant down to the host:
11 And thou shalt hear what they say; and afterward shall thine hands be strengthened to go down unto the host. Then went he down with Phurah his servant unto the outside of the armed men that were in the host.
12 And the Midianites and the Amalekites and all the children of the east lay along in the valley like grasshoppers for multitude; and their camels were without number, as the sand by the sea side for multitude.
13 And when Gideon was come, behold, there was a man that told a dream unto his fellow, and said, Behold, I dreamed a dream, and, lo, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the host of Midian, and came unto a tent, and smote it that it fell, and overturned it, that the tent lay along.
14 And his fellow answered and said, This is nothing else save the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel: for into his hand hath God delivered Midian, and all the host.
15 And it was so, when Gideon heard the telling of the dream, and the interpretation thereof, that he worshipped, and returned into the host of Israel, and said, Arise; for the LORD hath delivered into your hand the host of Midian.
16 And he divided the three hundred men into three companies, and he put a trumpet in every man's hand, with empty pitchers, and lamps within the pitchers.
17 And he said unto them, Look on me, and do likewise: and, behold, when I come to the outside of the camp, it shall be that, as I do, so shall ye do.
18 When I blow with a trumpet, I and all that are with me, then blow ye the trumpets also on every side of all the camp, and say, The sword of the LORD, and of Gideon.
19 So Gideon, and the hundred men that were with him, came unto the outside of the camp in the beginning of the middle watch; and they had but newly set the watch: and they blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers that were in their hands.
20 And the three companies blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers, and held the lamps in their left hands, and the trumpets in their right hands to blow withal: and they cried, The sword of the LORD, and of Gideon.
21 And they stood every man in his place round about the camp: and all the host ran, and cried, and fled.
22 And the three hundred blew the trumpets, and the LORD set every man's sword against his fellow, even throughout all the host: and the host fled to Bethshittah in Zererath, and to the border of Abelmeholah, unto Tabbath.
23 And the men of Israel gathered themselves together out of Naphtali, and out of Asher, and out of all Manasseh, and pursued after the Midianites.
24 And Gideon sent messengers throughout all mount Ephraim, saying, Come down against the Midianites, and take before them the waters unto Bethbarah and Jordan. Then all the men of Ephraim gathered themselves together, and took the waters unto Bethbarah and Jordan.
25 And they took two princes of the Midianites, Oreb and Zeeb; and they slew Oreb upon the rock Oreb, and Zeeb they slew at the winepress of Zeeb, and pursued Midian, and brought the heads of Oreb and Zeeb to Gideon on the other side Jordan.

How many voices does it take across America to fight against the Coronavirus/Cov-19 I have yet to determine. How many people talk daily on the issue and how many post about the virus and how many ignore such post, only to look at state and federal guidelines to the point they rather not know the outcome of this whole mess. However there is a point, we are looking at what we can see, and not how far we need to bend the knee to reach the floor and do just that. How much praying does our country need to do, how much asking God for help and direction. Is it God saying bleach, lysol and cleanse everything from objects to our bodies, or is God saying be filthy still. No God calls us to cleanse ourselves from the impurities of this world. Yet without impurties there is no dirt, there is no plant life, there is no vegetation and there is no way to bury what dies to recycle itself again. God cleanses the heart when we receive Christ as Lord and Savior, but he also allows us to get dirty, no he wants to keep us pure. Yet with the blood covering our sin is buried, left to grow new seeds of life. Sin teaches people not to do evil. If we can first understand it is wrong. Today lesson is about trusting in God.

Gideon had enough faith when God said tell everyone to go home that was afraid and hide from this war, that battle would still be won do so. Who going to stand with a poor man in battle, who going to stand with a doubter in battle, and who going to stand in battle with a man that is not brave? Truth is Gideon had more against him then for him in his first battle. Out of 22,000 only 10,000 was left. Then God told Gideon to take the ten thousand and if they knelt and drank water to send them back to their tents and to take the men that lap water to win the first battle. Only 300 men lapped water. The Lord said that was enough men to win. Gideon stood up and did exactly what the Lord said, despite the number of men for God had said this victory would be his, because with a weak army he would show his power. If you drink water with your hand your able to be aware of your surrounds, if you lap water with your tongue you are not aware of what going on around you. God wanted to lead the blind.

God told Gideon to tell his men to surround the Midianites, to blow the horn and break the pitcher he gave them and hold the lamp and say the sword of the Lord and Gideon. Now Gideon still doubtful, but not afraid to do what Lord instructed. However the Lord gave Gideon more proof by telling Gideon to go and spy on the camp and get close and here what is being said. Even the enemy was saying Gideon would win.

At middle watch Gideon blew his trump and broke his pitcher and shined his lamp. The noise was so loud it scared the Midianites and they arose out of their tents and fled in to the night and Gideon and his men pursued them and defeated them. The battle was won by three hundred men. Get in your prayer closet say a prayer, because the Lord wants to win the battle of faith with all his fighting men and women. The battle not waged with weapons of steel, but weapons and swords of the Lord. God is able to defeat the enemy with the power and might of his word. Let us look to Jesus to heal our land, to heal those with disease, may His hand touch the world in healing at a time when the world needs that healing power to just cleanse the earth. God can defeat a large army with few men, he can win an unseeable disease with His power. It might be seeable with a microscope but may not, we only know what seems to help break up what we can see, or stop what we can see get well.

This battle that we are fighting must be fought with trusting in God and not allow the fear of the things in the world defeat us, We must do all we can to help in the cause of fighting a deadly disease. But it not just one disease but many viruses out there that affect the world today.

Dear Heavenly Father has Gideon trust you and took three hundred men into battle, let us trust in you by looking to your Son who cleanses our hearts first and then by His word begins to bring healing in our land by knowing that to clean our world of dirt and grim is one way of fighting disease and germs. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Psalm 103:1-22 KJV
1 A Psalm of David. Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.
6 The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.
7 He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.
8 The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.
9 He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.
10 He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.
12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him.
14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.
15 As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.
16 For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.
17 But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children;
18 To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.
19 The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.
20 Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.
21 Bless ye the LORD, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure.
22 Bless the LORD, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the LORD, O my soul.
