turtle30cshell Daily Devotions For May 14, 2020
One Spirit And One Church
5/14/2020

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

1 Corinthians 12:12-31 KJV
12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
14 For the body is not one member, but many.
15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
16 And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
17 If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?
18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.
19 And if they were all one member, where were the body?
20 But now are they many members, yet but one body.
21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.
22 Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:
23 And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.
24 For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked:
25 That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.
26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.
27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.
28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?
30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?
31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

The unity of the body of Christ is not separated by walls, or building, or individual bubbles, the unity of the Spirit is part of all of us that are believers in Christ. The body of Christ is the church, the church of believers and we all need each other, but we are not always in the same location, at the same time or space. Our need of each other is for each of us to do our part. If you look at a old watch with all the gears within it it works well untill a gear loose a tooth or a spring breaks, or a screw becomes lose. As clock ages it needs repair, and if the gears can be fixed and screw reused it probably will be. Yet it can not function without it parts. It will not keep time, nor will it do it jobs of winning lost souls for Jesus. The point being if we walk by the Spirit and we speak our part, do our part, play our part in the role of the church whether it be as evangelist, pastor, teacher, healer, hospitality, helps, government, diversity of languages and so forth the spiritual body will not increase, if anything it might decrease.

With many churches being closed for three months it going to have an impact on the church world like never before. Faith alone must be more important individually as well as spiritually. The church must be more then a building where you hear a lecture. A church must be more then a group of like minded people. For filling a day such as Sunday as another day is not to hard to do. What is different it is the unity of the Spirit in one place fulfilling the spiritual soul of faith with not only the word of faith, but the friendship and commaradee of the Spirit within the church as we pray and believe together in God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This can be done within and without a building, a building is nice, but the church is whole whether within a building of its own. I can not say to one believer your not part of the body of Christ, or that your part has no glory, because all parts are important to the body Christ no matter the size, shape, age, or use ability If one part doesn't work right the whole church suffers and if one part is not well, all are in need of repair. The church is whole in the world in which we live, the spiritual world as no boundaries and it far more advance then any disease that would like to tear our world apart instead of bringing us together. May the Lord pull the unity of His Spirit of the believer more together then ever before.

Dear Heavenly Father we rejoice in the body of believers that span the globe this morning that they will continue to stand strong and in unity of the Spirit despite what the enemy tries to do. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Ephesians 4:1-6 KJV
1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
