The Intercessor
5/23/2019

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Hebrews 2:9-18 KJV
9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
11 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,
12 Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.
13 And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me.
14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.
17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.
18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

Christ died for you and me. He is a captain of our soul to all that believe in Him. Our need for Christ as intercessor is probably one the hardest things for people to understand that are not Christians. Why did Christ have to die. The sacrificial law being place as far back as first man. Seen in the story of Cain and abel. Yet the need for the sacrifice was for the children of God. It was away of pleasing or honoring God. It was honor for Christ to die for us, but also a sweet aroma to God the Father. Now no one wants to think of Christ death being a sweet aroma. Yet what symbolizes is that God was pleased with sacrifice. It was acceptible sacrifice for sin. Christ resurrection would be the turning point for man. God's ability after such a gruesome death would be able to raise our Lord up. The miracle of the resurrection. gave man new light on God's ability to give man eternal life.

Christ was tempted as we are in the world and yet he over came temptation and tempter while on earth as well as through death and life. Devil was defeated, yet we continue to exercise free will of obedience to God. Because of our exercise of free will, we need a Savior. A Savior who will purify our hearts and soul for Him. To be a deliver and sweet aroma to the Lord when we fail. There is only one sacrifice for sin. It is God's only begotten Son. He is the advocator to all that believe in Him. It is through him all are able to be saved if one will only believe, repent and obey.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of your Son for my sins. Forgive me Father of my sins and cleanse me and purify my soul. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion: I John 2:1-3 KJV
1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
