Go And Sin No More
5/22/2019

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Hebrew 10:26-39 KJV
26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.
31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
32 But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions;
33 Partly, whilst ye were made a gazingstock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, whilst ye became companions of them that were so used.
34 For ye had compassion of me in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring substance.
35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.
36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.
38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

I usually read more then one passage and today is no exception to my writting. One of the core problems that seldom is understood about spirit and flesh in relation to sin. The flesh dies. Our bodies are mortal. That simple to understand and our spirit is spiritual. Faith effects both our mortal and spiritual body. The first thing God gets in tunes with him is our Spirit. Faith begins at the heart not our actions. Actions are movitation of the heart often times, but not always. Our spirit believes God our body yields against our spiritual nature. That candy bar you desire is not spiritual but it is a sin if you just had twenty and you are trying to loose weight. The war against flesh is a reality, the war of spirit is real too, but it more of who is winning. God wants to get rid of the doubts you have about faith in Him. Some just believe without question, others seek as Jacob did in regards I believe only if, this occurs. Jacob in Old Testament would return to Bethel where he had the dream of a stairs coming from heaven. Then there is David that war both mental, and in the flesh against sin. His sin finally catching up with him, yet he was spiritually minded in faith in God.

Sin is never okay. Yet faith is different then bodily actions. Yet our bodily action takes a certain amount of discipline to learn to control our human nature. Somethings are easy to learn to control about ourselves and other things will let us see for example; one getting angry for just a minute and what came out of that mouth, how did one react. Did our human nature take control, or did our Spiritual inner heart control the matter. The mindset of spiritual accountability. The mind likes to control the flesh, or human nature. The heart will on a slower level weighs the actions. The Spirit of God judges our hearts and our action on whether these things be of our spiritual nature. Yes our human flesh wars against our Spirit. Then it comes to a place where it no longer wars but follows after the heart. Our instincts will always be a part of our mortal body. That why we need that to one day put on immortality at death. Upon death we face our maker and receive that immortal body. A body that no longer wars against the spirit. In fact that body is purified and holy unto God. The mortal body is no longer needed because the heart and spirit of man is no in summision to obedience to God the Father.

To chase after our lust and desire and continue in that way will bring the judgment of God. God does not want us to live in sin. He does not want us to desire sin of flesh more then faith in Him. God knows our needs and his provision is not always our desires, but His desire is to meet those desires. Discipline is often taught with denial of those things harmful that a person might love and also exercising the act of obedience. Spiritual discipline is only based on belief. One may go on a spiritual journey even after being saved. It more of confirmation of that faith. Why do I believe might be one question one ask themselves. Another question might be why do I choose to do the things that cause me to sin against myself and God. Myself first in this question? My human nature is key, but it not the only reason. Cain desire to kill Abel, caused him to sin both spiritually because God warned him not too, do what he was thinking and also physically because he yield to his human desire that sin against another and himself.

Our disobedience to God can take us further away from God for eternity. Yet what is salvation? Is it a get out of hell free card. By no means is it a get out of hell free card. Salvation is not a card that one is handed, it is a free gift upon the action of belief in Christ. Yet with belief our life is going to change as we yield to God in obedience. Salvation does not give us a license to yield to sin. It does not give a person a free pass. Salvation only protects the soul of man from sinning against God spiritually, and hopefully as we learn discipline to God or yielding to God we no longer desire to sin in the fleshly nature. As a believer we learn, meaning it a process of learning to obey God. To yield to His voice. There is times in our life that our nature is very much like a two year old or a teenager going through rebellion. It not quite at the yielding stage of faith, but with discipline our fleshly nature will yield to God and His ways.

David had learn to obey God, but upon yield to temptation he learned his vulnerability to sin. He learned his fallicy in old age and so did the nation learn of his sin nature. Learn of his humanity. Prehaps if for no others reason to know he was not God. King David is often seen as a type Savior because the pulling together and freeing of the people during war times occurred. He actually brought peace during his time, though war would always exist in some form or fashion. Christ perfection is only obtainable through the power of God following in our life. God is holy and so our bodies being the temple of the Holy Spirit learns to yield to God and His Word. God seal is permanent upon a believer. Yet the discipline of faith is something that comes with time, and not always so quick to yield to God.

Dear Heavenly Father help us learn to submit to your will and follow you. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion: Romans 7:21-25 KJV
21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

Romans 8:12-18 KJV
12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
