turtle30cshell Daily Devotions For May
Asking God For Wisdom
5/02/2019

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

James 1:1-25 KJV
1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.
2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; note
3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
9 Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted: note note
10 But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.
11 For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.
12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

Asking God for wisdom might not be fully understood, but it is a wise decision to study God's word and ask for understanding, just like it is wise to ask for wisdom from God, so that sound decisions by you can be made. No your not dumb or ignorant, but when it comes to spiritual things, our true self will lie just to get one's desire. It is like that extra candy bar every day will not add weight overtime theology. How much we struggle over the idea of sin not having consequences. The idea no one will see, theology that works will if the camera age was absent. Sin itself will take you futher then you want to go any day of the week. However to receive wisdom from God on sin, will teach and guide you away from sin and a harsh road in life. God is not tempted by evil, and neither does He cause us to sin. However does he allow temptation of course he does. Satan tested Job in the book of Job, and the serpent deceived Eve in the garden.

If we ask God for wisdom and it is a gift from God we can count on it being perfect, because all gifts from God are perfect. We can count on the devil tempting us away from the wisdom of God. Yet we can rest assurred that if we rest in obedience to God's wisdom on sin and turning away from first the temptation of sin, and then sin itself if we are already involved in sin, that hope of faith will arise not only in our hearts but even unto death, because of our williness to obey wisdom of God. Drugs will take you further then you want to go, but if you leave them behind, you find God's path is rich in comparison. HIs ways being purified from the beginning. HIs ways be wise because HE created us to walk in his ways. Yet He gives us free will to obey or not to obey. You choose to eat an extra candy bar daily you will pay probably the consequence unless your one of those people with high metabolism rate. We can expect for God to take away sin, if we are not willing to put it behind us. Sin piling up in a believers life is like just getting ready for Sunday morning church and having to walk through mud with a tractor trailor passing you splashin mud in the pouring rain. Rain being God's salvation, but mud being the effects and result of sin in one's life. All clean before church only to get dirty on the way to church, while the blessing of faith still pouring on top. Christ blood covers our sin, and purifies our hearts from sin upon faith, but we still need to allow Christ to cleanse us by purifying our behavior, and action that lead to sin. Christ power to cover and protect is for our safety, but it doesn't mean we can do whatever we want. As a believer our strive to walk without sin, yet non of really do. Our idea of our own perfection can only come through Christ sacrifice on the cross, it is nothing we do for ourselves. Yet obedience is for ourselves. It is the one act we can do to please God and to honor God for what He has done for us. Don't think you can walk in this world and not at least have one impure thought, or one impure action. One can not. Yet the wisdom we ask for from God will enable us to make right decisions with the having the truth of faith before us.

Dear Heavenly Father, we ask for wisdom to know the correct path to take away from sin. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion: James 3:13-18/KJV
13 Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.
14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.
15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
