|Christ From Above
Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris
The mindset of knowing who Jesus is must first begin with the concept Jesus is from above. Is knowing Jesus from above and came to earth through virgin birth enough to convince you who Jesus is. Probably not it like reading the comic book on Supermanís life being from Krypton. Jesus being our super hero, who rescues us even in the storms in life, or takes us through those storms. If you ever been to amusement park and gone through those cave rides, where everything starts out kind of nice and at the end the storm and the lightening come, only to end with going over the waterfall at then. At the end of the storm we fall to our knees before Jesus knowing He took us through the storm, it was not in our own power or might, we made it through. God sent his word in the flesh has Jesus with the hope we hold hold on in faith, to his word. And precious promise through out our life. That hope and our faith would come from the testimony we heard about Jesus.
As Rehab held to the storms of long ago of Moses crossing the Red Sea and the destruction of the village that were before Israel, she held to the hope salvation would come when she meet the Israelites. Her hope was in the God of Israel who seem strong in power in her mind from the stories she heard.
The stories of God come with power of the impossibility being real. Until you have your God story of knowing God and His word is true by impossibility of impossible, God might not fully seem real at times. Jesus came to reveal who his Father was and is. He came from above and yet born of this virgin on this earth to help us understand.
The human form of Jesus was not received, the rejection Christ being very real. Though he demonstrated who he was through miracles and quieting of the storm on the sea, people still would not believe. Ten lepers would leaved healed but only one would come back to thank Jesus. Jesus pointed to his Father not to himself to follow. Moses was man called by God with fallacies, no one wants to think of Moses a great prophet with human error, yet Jesus personally was sent from above because the humanity of man needed a high priest to look to without human fallacies. No one ever good or perfect, but the man God sent to the world to be the Savior. Many ministers have Godís like qualities and if you knew them behind the scenes of the pulpit you find they are not so perfect, but have knowledge to be the pastor of a church and to have friends among the people because of his calling. His calling to point to Jesus the one to follow not him. To follow after Jesus and not the ministers of this earth. Yet human nature to follow the ministers of our world and perceive if what they say is truthful. Jesus was more then a man, but the only begotten Son of Father full of grace and truth. He was directly from God Father, and yet God knew people would follow other believers like they did in Moses day.
God gave us Jesus, though his testimony would not be believed. Yet on the cross as he die and the earth shook even the soldier new He must have been the begotten Son of God. When I die, I doubt the earth would shake, or even the wind would below, beyond what normal to man, unless predicted by the weather forecast as some storm coming through. Would the weather reports and earthquake graphs had predicted the earthquake that day? I believe something extraordinary happened beyond earthquakes. After all science did keep track of events and compared them to earliest recordings. Phenomena like total eclipse used by magicians were only tractable by the ancient past. The knowledge not by the common people.
The point is, the story of cross in modern times is not so believable, and yet we told to believe. Until God speaks and something occurs in oneís life one might never fully accept God as being truth. When God sent Jesus and came into the heart of man after the resurrection and ascension the Holy Spirit into the heart of the believer to testify of himself to man. The power of the resurrection lost by science by the testimony that was put in the heart of believer.
Psychologist would like to steal that experience of the Holy Spirit coming into the heart of the believer, but he can not. For the evidence of change because of Godís forgiveness is so drastic in some that even the non believers and believers gasp. Yet the joy and change of the testimonies are soon forgotten as life goes on and the hope is set before the believer. It is that hope of salvation that causes us to press forward in faith. Yet no one fully realized who Jesus was while He walked the earth. Christ ministry cut perhaps short in one sense and lives on today. Yet his ministry on earth during that time short to protect those of unbelief perhaps. Because people denying Jesus was denying the Word of God coming in human flesh, through prophesy. God protection of the Jewish people because of them being chosen has his people by faith, did not cease, but faith had to continue despite unbelief of who Christ was. During the time of Christ the Jews still went to the temple. Still study the scrolls. Still practiced by faith their conviction not understanding who Jesus was. Only until the resurrection did God wake Jews to who Jesus was as Messiah and Lord having victory over the grave.
Dear Heavenly Father give us the hope of faith to believe upon salvation and beyond. Give us that hope through your word and through reception of Jesus as Lord. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

(17) Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath:
(18) That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:
(19) Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;
