The Final Fall

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Nahum 3:1-19 KJV
(1) Woe to the bloody city! it is all full of lies and robbery; the prey departeth not;
(2) The noise of a whip, and the noise of the rattling of the wheels, and of the pransing horses, and of the jumping chariots.
(3) The horseman lifteth up both the bright sword and the glittering spear: and there is a multitude of slain, and a great number of carcases; and there is none end of their corpses; they stumble upon their corpses:
(4) Because of the multitude of the whoredoms of the wellfavoured harlot, the mistress of witchcrafts, that selleth nations through her whoredoms, and families through her witchcrafts.
(5) Behold, I am against thee, saith the LORD of hosts; and I will discover thy skirts upon thy face, and I will shew the nations thy nakedness, and the kingdoms thy shame.
(6) And I will cast abominable filth upon thee, and make thee vile, and will set thee as a gazingstock.
(7) And it shall come to pass, that all they that look upon thee shall flee from thee, and say, Nineveh is laid waste: who will bemoan her? whence shall I seek comforters for thee?
(8) Art thou better than populous No, that was situate among the rivers, that had the waters round about it, whose rampart was the sea, and her wall was from the sea?
(9) Ethiopia and Egypt were her strength, and it was infinite; Put and Lubim were thy helpers.
(10) Yet was she carried away, she went into captivity: her young children also were dashed in pieces at the top of all the streets: and they cast lots for her honourable men, and all her great men were bound in chains.
(11) Thou also shalt be drunken: thou shalt be hid, thou also shalt seek strength because of the enemy.
(12) All thy strong holds shall be like fig trees with the firstripe figs: if they be shaken, they shall even fall into the mouth of the eater.
(13) Behold, thy people in the midst of thee are women: the gates of thy land shall be set wide open unto thine enemies: the fire shall devour thy bars.
(14) Draw thee waters for the siege, fortify thy strong holds: go into clay, and tread the morter, make strong the brickkiln.
(15) There shall the fire devour thee; the sword shall cut thee off, it shall eat thee up like the cankerworm: make thyself many as the cankerworm, make thyself many as the locusts.
(16) Thou hast multiplied thy merchants above the stars of heaven: the cankerworm spoileth, and flieth away.
(17) Thy crowned are as the locusts, and thy captains as the great grasshoppers, which camp in the hedges in the cold day, but when the sun ariseth they flee away, and their place is not known where they are.
(18) Thy shepherds slumber, O king of Assyria: thy nobles shall dwell in the dust: thy people is scattered upon the mountains, and no man gathereth them.
(19) There is no healing of thy bruise; thy wound is grievous: all that hear the bruit of thee shall clap the hands over thee: for upon whom hath not thy wickedness passed continually?

Today we breaking down the destruction of Nineveh. It hard not to think of the information in the book of Nahum of the fall of a great city of Nineveh, as well as it poetic nature. Yet life love and hope remains even in the chapter of destruction. As Babylon comes in to destroy Nineveh one knows destruction has come. The noise of chariots has they come in. The destruction of the city with death in the streets. People everywhere and death in multitude and not one at a time. This battle is down with sword and spears. If done today it would be machine guns and weapons of war. Death coming without delay of time. With images of war on the news in recent past, no one can ever forget horror and cheering at the same time. The sound of war and images of war never pretty. Yet the images of war is necessary in the cases like Nineveh. Nineveh destructors will also be taking Israel into captivity. With that in mind the godless nation of whoredom was only be taken by a bigger nation of whoredom.

Adam and Eve kicked out of Heaven because of their whoredom. Whoredom or idolatry causes future destruction. The idea of the tower of Babel in the book of Genesis, of building on tower to heaven. Is that not the temple of God bringing one group of people to God alone. The tower of Babel is really about people wanting to get to God on their own merit and not by the will or salvation from God.

The tower ideology of one faith. Why would it be destructive. The queen of Nineveh was to be worshipped. King Nebuchadnezzar was to be worshipped. The point is the ideology is who God are you serving and worshipping. If you worship a false God or obeying a false god like Satan, then you dealing with Eve and Adam plight, before they care cast from the garden. Instead of worshiping and obeying God that created them, they bowed to the serpent/Satan. Those that follow a false god or ideology is following in opposition to God. It is spiritual idolatry, adultery , from the true redeemer of mankind. I believe God gave man a choice by not creating him perfect. A choice to sin. Though that choice remains until Christ comes then the choice is done away with. No longer trapped by our humanity, but free to live sin free for those in Christ Jesus. Christ talked about the devil killing himself. That the devil would be divided if they fought against himself and with that in mind the devil could not stand.

The siege against Nineveh and the destruction of Nineveh would destroy the whole city. Army of men being like grasshoppers marching through. There would be no healing for those that had escaped from this great city, and yet the people who heard the story, the enemy of Nineveh would praise the Lord for the victory of the destruction. No matter the side you are on in victory or defeat, their will rise again victory and defeat until the final battle is over and done. The final victory of Godís people will rejoice in that day.

I am overcome by the thought of victory of Godís people. But amazed that the devil can not see it own destruction. God allows the devil to rise and destroy itself. Yet Godís people know that the end will surely come. They know the victory of serving God despite which devil acts to be in charge. When we trust in our own power and own might we will be defeated. If we trust in the Lord he will destroy and deliver his people. Even in exile Godís people are victorious. They still sit in the palace not as kings, but servants. Better to serve in the palace where you know what going on then in the gutter where you only year the gossip of what maybe. Godís people protected in the sense of the servants are not the enemy but those who lead in military brigade and the government. God warns of destruction and yet your job just changing from one place to the next. It might not be the place you want, but it is the job you got. When God destroys the enemy for the final battle, Godís kids will rule in the palaces, and those palaces will have no end. As long as the devil is rising up with deception as it power, then the devil is going to keep falling time and time again. May Godís people clap there hands together with the destruction of the devil.

Dear Heavenly Father thank you for the victory that comes in knowing you, despite the fact we live as pawns in the devils courts. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion: Revelation 17:17-18 KJV
(17) For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.
(18) And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.

Matthew 12:25-28 KJV
(25) And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:
(26) And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?
(27) And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges.
(28) But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.
