Looking To Jesus

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Hebrews 1:1-14 KJV
(1) God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
(2) Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
(3) Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
(4) Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
(5) For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?
(6) And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.
(7) And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.
(8) But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
(9) Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
(10) And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:
(11) They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment;
(12) And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.
(13) But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?
(14) Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

The ability to worship God and Jesus is probably the hardest link for monotheism or one God theology to grasp. For a multi god person the idea is painless. Is Jesus one God through His Father or is it two separate beings to worship. One will understand it more simply, if one thinks of mankind in spiritual format. Each of God’s children are filled with His Spirit, but only one Spirit that fills us all and then there is the individual spirit. Each of us has a spirit that is not God within us. Then when one ask Jesus into their heart the Spirit of God comes in and is called the Holy Spirit/Christ’s Spirit. Jesus dines with our Spirit in our hearts. Teaching us all things and all truth.

This does not answer the question though, until one begins to break down the issue. A baseball team that only plays the field together has no pitcher, catcher or basemen. Yet put the players in position despite their individuality, you have a team that can work together. The Coach is like the Holy Spirit. Everyone listens to the coach. Failure to do so might jeopardize the team odds of winning. Yet on the Holy Spirit team Jesus’ team always wins. The Spirit of God is in perfect harmony with the Father and the Son. Humanly this is impossible feet. A hand across America was meant to bring unity to the nation, only to be short lived for a moment in history. There is no defining moment where our nation has been in complete solidarity not even on equal rights. Yet if we agree to listen to each other, our strive to work in unity will happen, and no one does the perfectly at times. If our nation is so divided what keeps us working well, is our freedom and ability to choose how we live and to abide by the respect of other’s choices, even when we disagree.

God and Jesus Spirit is the same so they have no choice but to abide in agreement. Our choice decided for us when Eve chose to obey the devil. Yet was there unity before that with God, I have to wonder, only by God’s design. Man was not created in heaven but place in the garden. Woman was created in heaven, but a part of man and not God. Woman is given the choice to be part of the man’s world or God’s. Woman choose devil over man and God. Women have eternal salvation through faith in Jesus.

Not once did God ever tell man he could be God, but like the woman from heaven so was Son given a place to live as an alien. Though Jesus home was not on the earth. It was where He came to live for a time, which God established, through human birth. Jesus being from above came to destroy death. Through the resurrection Jesus defeat death. Death has no hold on the believer. Yet for the non-believer they will go to eternal lake of fire on judgment day, without hope of eternal life with God. Death has no hold on the believer. For it is by Christ’s Spirit and Word we live eternally with God, who spirit and word is the exact same as Jesus. God gave an image that man could worship because of their need for something they could look to in physical sense like the idols of the world. Jesus is our guiding light, and brilliant star for the believer. Everyone that looks to the believers for information on salvation and God hopefully will find the hope that only Jesus and God can bring by His Spirit. Our need to identify with God is great, but our imperfection keeps from identifying with Him beyond His Son. He suffered and felt the pains of this world. He knew what it was to be batter and scarred with sin by effects of others. Truth is we face the punishment of earth because of the effect from Adam and Eve. We are conceived in paradise only to be cast out into this world.

Now with this in mind no time did God ever tell the angels they were equal to him. Jesus is both man and God. Only man in the flesh, but not made whole through the resurrection and given a body that is incorruptible. We to will have incorruptible body if we will look to Jesus.

Dear Heavenly Father you are the same as your Son and Spirit and yet the equality is like no other. Our human nature causing disunity with others but by your Spirit enable us to be unified through your Son’s death and resurrection to all that believe. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
