Time of Christ: The Prophetess

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Luke 2:36-38 KJV
(36) And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity;
(37) And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.
(38) And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.

I got to thinking this morning something of highlights of women in scripture though they be far between, what about the Jewish women being filled with God’s Spirit. It is clear in the book of Acts 2 that the Spirit would be poured on both men and women in last days. This passage verse in Acts is a reference to Joel 2. What can one understand about prophesy and the Holy Spirit upon both men and women, even in the Old Testament scriptures. Part of the power God is to give both men and women the ability to testify about God and who He is. The little Jewish girl in 2 Kings 5 that told Naaman about Elijah the man of God. Sometimes it takes sending someone to someone else for healing to take place spiritual and/or physically. It taking the time to say give it to Jesus, give it to God. Elijah was a man a God that would know how to pray to help Naaman. The little girl could of prayed herself, instead sent the man in another land for healing.

Something to note Anna is the she was a prophetess, she would of heard through the priesthood about the Messiah coming and about even John the Baptist. Even at the trial of Jesus it is noted that a priest question Jesus on who his mother was in reference to him being the Messiah. The Jewish people were looking for a deliver. As I thought about the third infantry standing on the Palace of Iraq as it was being claimed by American soldiers, I can not help but think about Jerusalem when the land was given back to Israel during WWII. Two defining moments in American and global history. In these two events one has to ask did the world see the USA as a devil or a Savior. A type of Messiah as the principals of justice were established for their people.

It true even the devil might appear to praise the Lord, but in truth in his heart does not. Even a devil can walk up and ask another devil if he saved, atheist comedians do it in their acts all the time, and few listening thinks a thing of what it means. It is easy to see salvation in the since of a physical war or holocaust, yet it not so easy in the spiritual since. Jesus was not a deliver of the physical world of Israel like in days of Moses, or Gideon. Jesus was a spiritual warrior Messiah. Those taking the message of faith, would cause the world change first spiritually and then into life changing roles that would effect powers by godly laws coming into place in nations. Wars would come about by natural course of wars. Yet what is not clear is did women have the Holy poured out throughout history of scripture and today. The infilling of the Holy Spirit upon women was not talked about in scripture the same way as men. Did men need that feeling of superiority or that call to brag of war. Spiritual women have spoken for years of the Lord, but no one thinks of the battles women have fought through prayer and sharing testimony to those around them. The women were often separated in the temple. There was a women sanctuary and inner sanctuary that men went in. One thing to note is women were unholy during their periods back then, so certain times women could not have enter the holy of holies area, in fact they were never allowed. The women were just filled by God’s spirit to testify and to glorify God as the Prophetess Anna did upon seeing her Messiah in the temple with Mary and Joseph. A spiritual king to draw all men to God through faith, by the teaching, taking away of sin, miracles performed, death on the cross and the resurrection. The bring back the people to God by testimony of faith. Women are a part of this testimony, just as women are a part of military forces around the world. Yet our nation’s laws speak whose child our nation is. The fight for freedom should be godly but not always is it. Depends on where you stand. Government can not protect everyone. Children go in the underground for protection without government approval tell truth can be revealed. Human wealth has always meant power and control, yet it does not always win, unless God is in control. See wealth will win eternity, for God is the wealthiest of us all.

Women keep the spiritual flame alive in your heart through faith and belief. Men it wise to follow those simple truth as well. Yet the Holy Spirit power running the hearts and lives of those who testify of God’s greatness and power. Anna definitely testified of God greatness in the temple.

Dear Heavenly Father, ignite your children with the spiritual power of the Holy Spirit, in both the military of God, so the chains of the darkness are destroyed. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
