According To God's Timetable
05/11/2016

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Genesis 18:13-15 KJV
(13) And the LORD said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old?
(14) Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.
(15) Then Sarah denied, saying, I laughed not; for she was afraid. And he said, Nay; but thou didst laugh.

What does it mean according to time with God. I often wonder why God seems to pop in and out of people’s lives in the Old Testament and then always right beside in the New Testament, and all I can think, is Jesus was upon the earth for thirty-three years of life. Christ’s closeness to the disciples was such that without the Holy Spirit, his absence would of seen like an eternity. One has to remember that all the disciples knew Jesus for at the minimum of three years and some even longer when He walked the earth. Yet Jesus walked upon the earth long before his birth at the time of Abraham is recorded of his discourse with one man named Abraham. One has to accept that Jesus was fully part of the Godhead bodily in order to believe Jesus was present at this discourse with Abraham. However doctrinally you do not have to be there to grasp the presence of God was in human form talking to Abraham. Let us continue with the idea that Jehovah in human form told Abraham according to time of life. God had appointed time of Abraham and Sarah to conceive. The fact Abraham and Sarah had not been able to conceive is only proof children are born by the power of God. I really get anger when a woman who gets pregnant out of wedlock is chastised. When men are equally as guilty as the girl in premarital sex. One has to remember that conception is according to God’s will. Some will say have you lost your mind, even science will tell you it only takes sex at the right time of the month to get pregnant. I agree but Sarah was not able to have children anymore. In fact when Sarah heard she laughed at what God had said.

God has a timetable for birth. A child in or out of wedlock is precious gift from God. Yet God had a plan to continue the bloodline of Abraham. Purpose was according to God’s will. God plan for the Abraham and Sarah line to continue and not by the ability of man, but the ability of His word. God’s word presence at the timetable of a year. Prophesy given as well as coming to pass in scripture though Abraham’s people.

Time table in the sense of according to God’s will is a little huge to fully grasp when on thinks of God having a timeline for events to come to pass. Man so badly wants to building a time machine to change events in time. Science would like to prove the ability to change time. To control the events of a person’s life. If you ever had a dictator in your life, you know the control they want to bring to your world to the point they even tell you when to eat and sleep. Parents often are dictators for a short period of time in the child’s life, yet it should stop when a child becomes an adult. A parent has to trust that when their child reaches adulthood they have taught most or all survival skills. Nothing wrong with child as an adult asking a parents for advice, because truth they probably been through it or something similar. Parents sometimes have knowledge of how to take care of an issue. Yet when a parent dedicates how to run your relationship with a spouse, or someone you are dating it is a huge mistake. One can not allow one’s family to dedicate that personal relationship with someone special as a legal adult. Nothing wrong with family interference when it comes to abusive situations, unless the one being abuse refuses to listen.

As young adult world beings to prepare for graduation their reliance needs to be on God as a believer and not on what other’s think is best for them. God is the only one as a believer that should be plotting your course, because he knows what will satisfy your heart and mind. Jumping into what other’s think is best for you, will only destroy you. God’s timetable for building an ark was hundred years. Noah had a hundred years to preach to the heathens of his time. Abraham timetable to be a father by his wife Sarah had no date until the Lord visited him. Abraham had given up having a child when he took Sarah handmaiden to bed. Yet the hope sprung anew with prophesy.

Timetable frame of God is not controlled by man’s desires. Only control by the time clock of God. If He said He is the first and the Last we should accept this true or take it on faith that it is. God’s word is in motion because of the prophetic word. One needs to realize as God’s word travels through time, it is still making declaration. Even the continual hope of the world seems to rest around only the prophesy of the tribe of Israel, but this is not so. When Jesus came, the hope of the world was fulfilled by God‘s timetable. Jesus is the prophetic word past, present and future Everything comes according to the will of God and purpose for a person’s life, yet is also controlled by God’s timetable. Sometimes trying to understand God’s timetable is impossible. When God allows one to see his purpose for his timetable it is understanding of the hope of God’s word. Jesus came to Israel at a time when they needed their hope restored both for the Jew and the Gentile. Isaac came at the time of impossibility to prove the power and will of God.

Dear Heavenly Father thank you for proof of power and will even when it thought impossible. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
