Forge In Fire

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

1 Peter 5:1-11 KJV
1 The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:
2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
3 Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.
4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.
5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
11 To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Peter apostle of Jesus Christ, not just an apostle but elder of the church, elder or leader, teacher, and elected person of the church by Christ Jesus. If one compares both the first chapter of I Peter to the fifth chapter, one will easily note the same theme and information given of the status of Peter who is writing the letter to Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia, who were strangers to Peter.Yet he writting to tell them he is one of the apostle and elder of the church of Jesus Christ. He writing to give them hope and not just information about himself. Yet his purpose is to express the lively hope found in Christ Jesus, to encourage those already received the hope of Christ and explain more about their salvation and their eternal hope which is found through Jesus death and resurrection. The promise hope of eternity found in heaven. That the doctrine of faith be taught about Christ and when taught the ministers were not to be lords over God's heritage, but servants as Christ served his followers, teaching them about faith and righteousness. To cloth with humility of service to others, not with boasting or pride, but letting God exalt a person in do time.

The theme of I Peter is to instill the principals of faith that by taking on the duties of faith as a humble servant, encouragine the doctrine of sanctification of the Spirit, being the same as the blood sprinking year after year in the sacrificial law, but no longer needed but the Spirit be needed to cleanse the soul continually in the life of a believer.

What would Peter know about the sanctification process, his own journey with Jesus and following after the Spirit of God. God's Spirit spoke to Peter who Christ was as Messiah and Lord. He deny not that Jesus was the anointed one of Israel. Peter on journey testified of not only lack of faith but his how Christ strengthen him to enable him to trust in Jesus and to follow after the Spirit of God. Peter story is told through the storm on the ship, to the denial of Jesus, to the call once more from the shore of why was he not feeding the sheep.

Peter now an old man and elder of the church seen the need of the church to be strengthen by the Holy Spirit but the reminder of Christ death and resurrection and the lively hope of eternal life that faded not away. The eternal hope that faded not is the incorruptible hope of eternal life through Christ Jesus.

Peter talks about the first of the Holy Spirit as well is the temptation of Satan to the church. Two types of fire, one that removes the debrie from a person life and the other that test the faith and strength of a believer. If you ever watch Forge in Fire they make steel blade with fire. God is making us into blades of service for him. He sharpening us with skills given by the Holy Spirit and when we learn to resist he is allowing us to be tempt to help us learn to resist the devil through the testing of one's faith. See the blade by the maker may look strong and tough but until it tested, it worthiness is then proven. Then the blade is useable if it passes all the test, and ready for service. Not until God is done can the blade be use for battle. We must go through the fire of faith and test of faith, in order to be strengthen to know just to resist the devil and he will flee and to be sharpened by the Holy Spirit is to learn to hit our knees before the flames of fire destroy/consume us(the removal of the chaffed from the wheat so to speak). The seed of faith is purge from debrie and spread to grow and produce both in our life and life of those that will listen.

In this process, he shines us and does not set us on a shelf to be admired but puts us in a place to serve him in humility. Our surety of heaven resting in Jesus, God's salvation plan. The process of faith is a work of God who transforms our Spirit and makes it ready for the day we enter heaven, purged, tested and tried, but not without faith that we be welcomes in heaven with a crown worthy to be laid at Jesus' feet.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the reminder of the testimony of Peter, but also our own testimony of deliverance, victory and the hope of the eternal victory song. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: 1 Peter 1:1-25 KJV
1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
10 Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:
11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
12 Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.
13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:
18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
