Falling Out The Window
03/162021

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Acts 20:6-12 KJV
6 And we sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread, and came unto them to Troas in five days; where we abode seven days.
7 And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.
8 And there were many lights in the upper chamber, where they were gathered together.
9 And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead.
10 And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him.
11 When he therefore was come up again, and had broken bread, and eaten, and talked a long while, even till break of day, so he departed.
12 And they brought the young man alive, and were not a little comforted.

There are stories of people falling asleep in church as the minister preach, to many to count. Yet most can say no one ever fell out a window after hearing this story, for the windows of many churches are not made to sit in but only big enough to feel the cool night air. Yet I can imagine this event happening of a man falling out of a third story window, thinking if he just close his eyes for a moment, he be okay, only to wake up on the third floor with Paul prostrated upon him praying over his lifeless body trying to resurrect it in the name of Jesus. The man had hit the ground outside the window and the very breath knocked out of him, but Paul prayed and he felt the life go back into the body of this man who fell out the window.

Noah open the window of the ark and let a dove fly out of it to bring back hope of water receding from the land. Perhaps he could see the mountain crest in the distance but could not tell if a tree was growing yet. As he open the window the dove flew but could find no landing. The dove was released a seven days later only to bring back olive branch. The hope brought back that there would soon be a place to land as Noah navigated the ship to the shore line. The third time the dove released once more for him not to return at all this time. The ark landed and the door unlocked and Noah stepped out on dry land.

Rehab the Harlot heard about the spies being in town and went to see them because of the stories of Israel victories had reached her ears. She would hide the spies in her room and lower them out the window at night. The hope being she would tie a scarlet rope to the window to protect herself when the spies returned with the army of Israel in tow. Her protection in the window and her hope that spies would honor their word to protect her and all those in her room.

Are we falling out of windows because we can not stay awake, or are we looking for the hope beyond the window. Or we using the window for protection. Many of us find ourselves listening to the word of God only to fall asleep and find ourselves in need of prayer for the injury of not staying awake to hear God word. Rehab heard the word of God and the window brought her hope and hope to the spies who she set free. Noah window only could be a door way to the news beyond it, to tell if life was coming back to normal after the flood.

What am saying is the church asleep, is the church world blind to what just happened, we were order not to remain in the church by our government, then some died that continue preaching because they did not obey the government and others lived. Some went and established windows and opportunities for worship online while others fell asleep almost destroying the church. The minister is prostrating on the floor of the church praying Lord where is the people's faith and where is my faith. When is people going to be like Daniel and pray at the window despite the decree to shut the doors of the church, and when are we going to obey the instructions of Paul to Titus to obey the government, and when are we going to put up the sign for our church to meet at the window for hope of spiritual warfare protection. Some of the ministers that read this, I sure you can say this better then me, and so preach it. Because the truth the protection is not in the window, but the worship of God in spirit and in truth. The show of worship is only part of the battle, it only the begining of the battle of faith, it saying Lord, I do two things. Preach from the window of opportunity given and I will do my part hoping others will pick up their torch of faith and carry the Gospel on to family and friends giving them opportunity to hear the Gospel of faith, even if they themselves are not preachers in the pupit of the church sense.

Do you realize Cov-19 could of stolen our freedom of faith and just about did. Yet this time it was still protected by our constitution of our land and some of you are republicans. This happened during Republican administration. Wake up we need church leaders to take a stand in government positions. We need to wrap our gridles on and say I grabbing Jesus hem in faith and doing exactly what he called me to do, despite the cost. Then we need to stand on the solid Rock and set our gaze on the author and finisher of our faith, because we can not stay at the hem of the garment bowed in reverence to the king to continue our march of faith, or the waves will over take us, because we did not go has Christ instructed the woman who touch his hem of his garment. How many people do you think she told her story too? No one healed by Jesus can be completely silenced.

We have to remember despite that there things of this world that are not of God and clearly not of God we still have to protect freedom of others as God protected them in Romans 1, turning people over to their sin, so their sin reaches a place they no longer desire it. Our window is our freedom of faith in our country to tell the Gospel hope, let us not abuse it, let us not fall asleep and be found dead outside the window, because we could not keep ourselves awake at the hour of temptation to stop ministering and stop preaching the word of God, because of the times are hard. Where is your faith? Believers do not stop sharing the Gospel however God has lead you to, hold on for the battle of faith is only still raging, until Christ parts those eastern skies. Put your gridle of faith and mark the window, and do not remain sitting in it, but open it and let the birds test to see if land is safe to stand on. If a tree can take root then it must be safe enough for man to stand on.

Let us stand together in faith marching forward and not backwards, open them doors as those vaccine shots of protection are given and say come on in their is room for twenty more. Let us keep the window open for the light of Christ to shine forth.

Dear Heavenly Father, let us not fall asleep to only need you to raise us from the dead. Help us to test the outside, and mark our window for the armies of God for our protection and our hope. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Isaiah 32:1-4 KJV
1 Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in judgment.
2 And a man shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.
3 And the eyes of them that see shall not be dim, and the ears of them that hear shall hearken.
4 The heart also of the rash shall understand knowledge, and the tongue of the stammerers shall be ready to speak plainly.
