The Promise Holy Spirit
03/10/2021

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Luke 24:36-53 KJV
36 And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
37 But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.
38 And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?
39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.
40 And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet.
41 And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat?
42 And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb.
43 And he took it, and did eat before them.
44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
48 And ye are witnesses of these things.
49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
50 And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them.
51 And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.
52 And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:
53 And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.

The same mountain called Mount Olivet that Jesus came down to Jerusalem he would go up to the top and be carried into heaven, the area outside of Jerusalem called Bethany. I find this interesting this morning, because he came into Jerusalem as a king and would go out a king into heaven in the same area. The need of food is granted to prove Jesus humanity and not just a spirit. The scars in hands, feet and on his side evidence he really was crucified. See Jesus had come into the room without coming through a door, his reality seem not to be, yet he told them peace to them, not meant to cause harm or fear from his entrance but to bring hope of his reality of his resurrection.

If we can only think of the reality of Jesus ability to enter a room and not be a ghost from normal fleshly entrance you might grasp the reality of Jesus. See Jesus even let them put hands on him.To be able to walk from spirit into the flesh or the flesh into the Spirit that is Christ ability. The evidence of his incorruptible body shown to the disciples. What joy and elation it brought to those disciples. Yet we might ask, if this event happened today, what would we be asking, that they might not of asked. Can we bottle this new flesh and give it out, can we have that same body to not decay right now, or is it something only God's ability? Perhaps we would of even asked, is this flesh human as before? The answer would of been no, for Jesus' body is no longer corruptible.

The disciples were told to wait until they be endued with power from on high(the promise of the Holy Spirit, Luke's account), came upon them. They returned to Jerusalem with great Joy and they continue in the temple , praising and blessing God. Where did they go the temple to praise God. The same temple where the veil was torn at the time of the cross. The same temple that Jesus was present 8 days after birth. The same temple that would crucify Jesus. Yet they went back to tell the events and to praise and worship God. Glory given to God the Father in his house.

How many of us would of been empowered by just the turn of events, it was clear the disciple were as they praise God at the temple. Yet they would be empowered in the upper room according to other scripture passages and not the temple. Yet they bore witness there. Jesus bore witness at the temple. Jesus bore witness of who he was in the temple, and yet even so the leaders believe not that he was even sent by God, nor did they want them to even speak in the name of Jesus by the time (Acts 4) occurs after the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.

The division in the temple would become even more evident with the persecution of the church. Yet right now our focus is that promise Holy Spirit coming to the disciples. If healing was not real, the miracles and signs that followed the disciple not real, people would leave because of no promise or fullfillment coming to those in need of a touch from God. How did the empowerment beside the persecution of the believers change the course of the religious world. Christianity would rule in many countries for a time period. Jewish temple would be destroyed. The destruction of what was thought to be godly influence take away from the earth. Jewish people still exist in the world. In fact a Christian if they believe even the prophecy of the Old Testament can say they are Israelite by spiritual birth as well as a Christian by Spiritual birth. Believing the Holy Spirit from beginning to end of the two testaments in scripture. The Holy Spirit of the Old Testament is the same spirit in the New Testament. God has not changed.

People and society change on a regular bases. If we look at God's word careful are we following God or the men and women that were witnesses of God's Spirit. Whether you believe in UFO's or flying saucers, you at least probably heard of one story in your life time, even if only a cartoon. Point being if you believed aliens existed by what force or ideology did you believe them to exist. We all are aliens to some place in our solar system or in our world. Illegal aliens or legal aliens come and enter country welcome or unwelcomed, depending how they come. The idea of other planets and ability to visit these places why is it a foreign concept, perhaps because of what we are able to imagine or see with the naked eye that is the problem. Some say what if there are people and creatures elsewhere, what if the animals we have are more intelligent else where? Then are we only ruling our own kind and theirs.

I promise there is a point to my madness and insanity this AM. If God can make himself known to us, he can make himself known else where, so we should not be in fear of what whether there Christians else where, but more concerned of whether we are obedience to God or to man. I not saying forsake man's law, because they are good for the ruling of all people, believers and non believers together as mankind, but are we going to believe the Holy Spirit who guides and speaks to all tribes of people, or are we going to believe the devil's that try to speak the future into positivity of their own creation.

Anyone can take anyone and make example of positivity or negativity out of them. Yet where is the line drawn. Abraham believe God and it was credit to him as righteousness, but by man's standards was Abraham righteous not by the laws of our land today he was not or even the laws of Moses. We might ask ourselves who do we follow?

Why is the Holy Spirit coming so important? Perhaps it is to show us following mankind is pointless and follow God victorious even if it brings our own persecution. Sounds nutty think again, because Jesus went to his own cross obeying God, but he received the promise of sitting on the right hand of God his Father, as his Son, As King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Prince of Peace, Everlasting God and so forth. If we die today because we obeyed God will we become God the answer is no but we have the same inheritance as Jesus. Inheritance meaning eternal life because we believed and obeyed. See obedience comes slowly for some and quick for others, and belief holds our salvation by shed blood of Jesus Christ. Yet our human spiritual status changes not even upon death even when receiving our incorruptible body, we are still human. The devil believes in God, but he does not obey God beyond the fact he given rules he can not break in regard of limits to the destruction he causes. It like giving a bad kid a place to play and say you can do this and that, but you limitation is your strength and power to do any damage beyond that point. Devil can harm us not because of our seal from the Holy Spirit, yet he can tempt us for a time period, and it does not mean we are not subject to the elements of the world we live in that God created. Our earthly bodies subject to decay and destruction, but not without empowerment from him to be overcomers in our world through faith in Him. If we believe God can heal then it will be according to his timing and purpose for our life. Sometimes our ailment is pushment from God, but if we repented and not healed, then we are being subject to this world, for a time for a reason. Can we praise God in the storm and glorify him so others might still have hope and see God's grace and deliverance in our storms.

The empowerment of the Holy Spirit is not given to make our life seem or look perfect, but to show the world the difference of that hope we have in God and Christ Jesus. It is when those days are blessed and over shadowed with great rewards we know God's grace in our life as well as his grace in the storm. I have not always weather storms gracefully, and I suspect my humanity will shine at times, because in truth, we may desire for the light of Christ to shine forth, but many of us live in defeat not holding on to the hope He promises us when going through life mini situations. We need that empowerment of God's Spirit to get through those tough times, we need to pray for the infilling of the Holy Spirit to not only be his witness, but to enable us to hang on to the promises and hopes he bring. Instead of hangin by a thread on the side of the mountain, we are truly wearing the rope and harness of God called his Spirit. God does not let go, nor does he give up on those who will truly believe in his plans of salvation and purpose for their life. The reality we need God, His Son and HIs Holy Spirit. We need his harness of protection and rope to pull us up to heaven.

Dear Heavenly Father, as we give our life to you, enable us to rely on you and empower us with your Holy Spirit to be victories not hanging by a thread kind of people. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Leviticus 25:35-36 KJV
35 And if thy brother be waxen poor, and fallen in decay with thee; then thou shalt relieve him: yea, though he be a stranger, or a sojourner; that he may live with thee.
36 Take thou no usury of him, or increase: but fear thy God; that thy brother may live with thee.

1 Peter 1:1-25 KJV
1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
10 Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:
11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
12 Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.
13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:
18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
