Every Sunday A Psalms: God's Mercy
3/26/2017

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Psalms 130:1-8 KJV
(1) A Song of degrees. Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O LORD.
(2) Lord, hear my voice: let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.
(3) If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?
(4) But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.
(5) I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope.
(6) My soul waiteth for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning.
(7) Let Israel hope in the LORD: for with the LORD there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption.
(8) And he shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.

I fall to my knees thinking on God’s mercy. No one could stand before God without His mercy. Many have gone into sanctuaries not in fear of the Living God only to find themselves prostrated before the Altar of God. Others have gone in no fear and no understanding of falling under the anointing of God. Despite a minister or calling God can knock you down. God needs no messenger to demonstrate his power to you. Elijah stood in the cover of a cave as tornado, wind and rain was outside passing by. God was in neither of those things, but God’s still voice spoke to Elijah. What was more fearful the storm or God speaking to Elijah. When God spoke to the people after the ten commandments were read, the people were afraid. Exodus 20.

If God’s speak are you fear? Only reason for that fear is reverence, or knowing that one has sinned and judgment keeper is present. Jonathan Edwards preached about being in the presence of Angry God. One of the greatest revival that spread across our land occurred during his day. Billy Graham an evangelist came preaching God’s word. Not even knowing everything in scripture as He began to preach. People by the thousands would come to the altar for salvation or just to shake the hand of Billy Graham, but even he was no great man in his eyes, it was the Lord that brought revival to the heart of man.

Our most greatest mistake is to think it man that brings revival, it must come from God, for God must convince the heart of His reality and the need of fear of Him. If God speaks to a person there is reason to fear. One God’s judgment, God’s mercy and your fear of God in the form of reverence for him, and three God’s grace standing in his presence understanding his mercy because of sin dividing one from being able to stand in his presence without the covering of His Son’s blood.

Knowing the power of God to forgive and his mercy shown to His children of obedience, knowing they will continue to sin from time to time, is more mercy then any of us deserve. How Marvelous and How wonderful a Christian hymn says “I stand amazed at His presences.” We can not stand before God without being amazed at his mercy for we all have sin and fallen short of His glory.

Israel is not exempt from God’s mercy, the church is not exempt from God’s mercy. Two groups of people are not exempt from God’s mercy. Two groups of people on their knees before God. It took the act of God’s redemption for people to understand his mercy. God brings his people home, it is and act of mercy. For sin had caused their exile, and God’s grace brings them home. Brings them home to learn about him, and his grace for them that will believe.

As I watched on social media that other day a 98 year old performing dance, my thought of how limber she was even after all those years. She been dancing since age six. An as I watched the video it told of her life and all she seen. What caught my attention was her endurance despite the things she had probably seen. Her life not always full of blessing and peace. Yet she was still dancing. When God works in our life he brings a dance to our steps and the ability to sing despite hardship. This video did not imply she had faith, but what I do know about life is believers faith is like this woman danced through the years that had come and gone. Faith continue because it is a part of one’s life, part of one’s ritual. Yet faith is more then ritual but a communication with the one that will govern one’s soul through out eternity. The serenity of peace that flowed with those thought spoke of a merciful God and in his presence I will stand and walk with my Savior and my God. I may fall in humbleness at His presence and fear because of sin, but God will lift me up and remind me my sins were covered by my Savior death and resurrection. No longer of fear of trembling but a fear of reverence to be in the presence of awesome God.

Let God knock you down and raise you to walk with Him. It is your sin that keeps you away from God let him show you, so you can ask for forgiveness and turn from it. It is your choice today humbly allow God to heal you through forgiveness.

Dear Heavenly Father thank you for your mercy through your Son. Please forgive me of all my sins as I receive your Savior today as your grace in my life. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
