Time Of Christ:Greatest In The Kingdom

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Matthew 18:1-11 KJV
(1) At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?
(2) And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,
(3) And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
(4) Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
(5) And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.
(6) But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
(7) Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!
(8) Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire.
(9) And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire.
(10) Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.
(11) For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.

The corruption of the world lies in how we treat children. Child abuse is rapid in the world and it belongs not. Yet what was in some cultures part of life, in other culture it was not consider always abuse. To understand that culture and the change world of desiring children to grow up without the pressure of sexual immorality in their life caused laws to go into place. Even to the law of cousins not being able to marry unless third cousins or something like that. In other words someone not of your household. Sexual predators of all ages begin in the heart of man, but does not end there, it is outward sin of destruction of not only the predators life but the life of a child. It will haunt a child till their dying day, despite the punishment of the offender. There is no justification for human horrors that exist in the world. Though memories can fad of bad events they resist in the recall of the mind if no where else but only to haunt when a similar event happens. The horror comes when it comes found a figure of authority in a child’s life. Yet if it is from sibling or friend, some say it only sexual curiosity.

There is a point this morning to be great in the kingdom of heaven, one can not abuse a child. One can only humble themselves and serve a child. Serve a child through using one’s authority in a child’s life to educate, care and love. Love being the most important thing to a child or even young adult. To be cradle by compassion, into adult years and protect by the horrors of the world and yet taught to know what horrors are by verbal communication of what those horrors are. To know through education horrors and not actual event. That compassion that is Servanthood. Education only helps one’s awareness of the world, so if horror was to happen they know that this is not normal.

The abuse is that person that Jesus talks about that should have a mill stone hung around his neck. Jesus speaks of the severity of a crime of hurting a child. Not only a physical child of age but the spiritual children of God that are growing in faith. Jesus loves all the children of the world. To force them to experience repeated abuse is only a sign of negligence of adults serving these children. From religious holocaust to sexual immorality. Religious holocaust is spiritual rape of mankind on the people of faith. It is the killing of the people of faith, both physically and mentally. The taking away of human rights.

God desires us to love each other and to care for each other as in the story of good Samaritan showing the love and compassion of helping the injured as well as going to the cross in the story of the crucifixion. Jesus compassion in healing of the people. To teach healing art of first forgiveness, and then healing through prayer. People opening doors for people to walk through and to enable them to achieve greatest only to help others. Donald Trump no matter his own personal agenda to become president step down from his position in his company to be a servant for four years. Is it a different world to him, I suspect in one since it is. The business world is not always fair and you have to play a hard game to get ahead sometimes. Yet to choose to serve a nation he will have to choose to help all groups of people to the best of his ability and his administration, plus what the congress will allow as will as the judicial system. His ability to serve will be based on his ability to lead a nation from economic situation he inherit to a world of what it will be in four years. Yet he only as the control the law allows and the law that allows changes. His ability to be a little god in office would be how he can keep the nation together as a whole and gain the respect an admiration of all people.

The point is we will not always gain the respect of everyone, but our ability to serve with humility and love is key to be in God’s service and to be as a little god to others because they willing serve you back. How many old people are left in nursing homes with few visitors not because family is enable to visit because the relationships are not always good with others or the generation coming up behind had no care for them. How you treat a child might depend on if they help you in old age. Then again it is that generation that has no care for their elders that loose out for they too grow old with each passing year.

Who is the greatest in the kingdom, God and His Word will always be the greatest, but who is next those that care for others learning to serve and be hand extended and not abuser. It is that person that reaches out in faith toward God and also love to others. When we believe God and receive his Son has our redeemer, then that is the beginning point of salvation, but we need to continue by loving others. We are after all joint heirs with Jesus. Our inheritance is eternity with God. Though we are not the word of God in the flesh, we are his children. Though we may pay a price for the sin of the world we live in at times, we are not the Savior. To be equal to God and His son would be as Lucifer thinking he had authority to be the greatest in God’s kingdom. Learn to serve not exalt as Lucifer did.

Dear Heavenly Father teach us to be humble before you in faith, but also in love for others. Caring for both children and the elderly of our world. Showing compassion to our friends and neighbors of our generation so that it teaches the next generation that same compassion. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion:Galatians 4:1-8 KJV
(1) Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all;
(2) But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father.
(3) Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world:
(4) But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
(5) To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
(6) And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
(7) Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
(8) Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods.
