The Lord's Will Revenge
3/08/2017

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Ezekiel 25:1-17 KJV
(1) The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying,
(2) Son of man, set thy face against the Ammonites, and prophesy against them;
(3) And say unto the Ammonites, Hear the word of the Lord GOD; Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou saidst, Aha, against my sanctuary, when it was profaned; and against the land of Israel, when it was desolate; and against the house of Judah, when they went into captivity;
(4) Behold, therefore I will deliver thee to the men of the east for a possession, and they shall set their palaces in thee, and make their dwellings in thee: they shall eat thy fruit, and they shall drink thy milk.
(5) And I will make Rabbah a stable for camels, and the Ammonites a couchingplace for flocks: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
(6) For thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast clapped thine hands, and stamped with the feet, and rejoiced in heart with all thy despite against the land of Israel;
(7) Behold, therefore I will stretch out mine hand upon thee, and will deliver thee for a spoil to the heathen; and I will cut thee off from the people, and I will cause thee to perish out of the countries: I will destroy thee; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD.
(8) Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because that Moab and Seir do say, Behold, the house of Judah is like unto all the heathen;
(9) Therefore, behold, I will open the side of Moab from the cities, from his cities which are on his frontiers, the glory of the country, Bethjeshimoth, Baalmeon, and Kiriathaim,
(10) Unto the men of the east with the Ammonites, and will give them in possession, that the Ammonites may not be remembered among the nations.
(11) And I will execute judgments upon Moab; and they shall know that I am the LORD.
(12) Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because that Edom hath dealt against the house of Judah by taking vengeance, and hath greatly offended, and revenged himself upon them;
(13) Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also stretch out mine hand upon Edom, and will cut off man and beast from it; and I will make it desolate from Teman; and they of Dedan shall fall by the sword.
(14) And I will lay my vengeance upon Edom by the hand of my people Israel: and they shall do in Edom according to mine anger and according to my fury; and they shall know my vengeance, saith the Lord GOD.
(15) Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because the Philistines have dealt by revenge, and have taken vengeance with a despiteful heart, to destroy it for the old hatred;
(16) Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will stretch out mine hand upon the Philistines, and I will cut off the Cherethims, and destroy the remnant of the sea coast.
(17) And I will execute great vengeance upon them with furious rebukes; and they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall lay my vengeance upon them.

Revenge is our human nature and not the nature of faith. If one can understand how powerful God is then, one can then begin to except who holds all the power. One desire to see their enemies fall might cause them to fall as well. Despite the fall of Judah, God would repay those that took Judah from her land. Now it hard to understand why God would revenge her people until you get into the mindset of the heathen that took God’s people from their land. This is a victory dance by the heathen, of their power and not the power of God. Judah mindset upon her birth, and growth had been the mindset of a powerful God that went before them in war. Judah would then stand in a land with her fancy hat without mourning as God’s remnant and testify of the power of God to do as He said he would.

We live in a time where our own government seems not to know whose side they give weapons of destruction too. Over this century despite the wars it seems that arms have been given to Islam, and also Israel. Two warring brothers of ancients and even today. One would think with all the blood shed there would be no one left to do anything, Yet a remnant of people remain only to rise again despite whose side you are on. Now if you are for God’s people then one might ask, whose is these people that are not God’s people for every side claim to be believers. It more complicated then that. Humankind can not judge the heart. God sees all and knows all, and yet we only see the victory dance as people win or loose despite the side. If you going to be on the winning side you better have a backbone, to take whatever comes your way. In truth there is time God’s allows revenge of her people, because of sin, because of their heart not being right, but then there is time of judgment for those that take revenge on God’s people.

If you ever seen a battle of spiritual warfare you know the battle not over until God says it is over. Then what job does a believer have but to obey the Spirit of God which is to love your enemies, to feed your enemies and not to seek revenge, for God will repay them. If you are faithful despite the rise and fall of the devil, one can rest assured God is on your side. Yet it does not mean one does not go into exile, or one does not have victory. It means God will take you through the battle with only the wounds caused by your own disobedience.

Excepting the exile would not of been easy for God’s people that where behind the wall of Jerusalem with a king and people of disobedience. It would of horrible to be going into exile of not your doing, but the doing of others. Yet to know it would happen, also means that God word would provided despite the destruction of the world around you. It is like being placed in an egg carton, with the ability to be broken but with a cushion around you to protect unless the wrath of God decides you need to be broken. How come that egg gets broke in the middle and not the end of the package is beyond me, but what is and is not has little do with the egg that is not. God’s protection to the egg that needed not revenge that for sure.

God’s promise of revenge on those that remove Judah is only because of their sin and desire of lust of greed for the land of Judah, because of her vast wealth. The gold had been shown in the temple and in the palace at the time of King Hezekiah. The green eyed monster had taken it revenge on a nature protected by God despite their sin. Yet God would punish Judah with the country that sought greed to purge it from their own sin. One sin being purged from each group, leaving a remnant for those that trust in God. In other words those fighting the wrong battle die because they war against each other for different reasons. The enemies sin of coveting his neighbor possessions and not seeking God. Israel sin of adultery and idolatry to the God of their nation.

If God is for you who can be against you? If God is against you, who is against you but everyone around you. Better be looking over your shoulder and one eye in front to make sure those bullets of destruction does not hit you. Yet if you are on God’s team, you walk with only your eyes on Jesus. Fixing your gaze only on Him. Knowing no matter what comes, God is with you. The bullets will zing passed you and around you, but you will not be harmed unless your gaze falls. The believers hope is in the Lord’s. The exile of the saint is only because of those around. One buys the unbroken egg carton only to get home with half of them broken. The others fit for use. Yet God will be done even in exile. The egg yoke is pour out for use. Your life pour out in the enemies hand, or freedom to be used for God. The broken eggs tossed only to show the final revenge of the eggs life that were broken because of sin.

Dear Heavenly Father help us to keep our gaze on you, know the enemy will be repaid for any harm that comes to your people. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion:Romans 12:14-21 KJV
(14) Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.
(15) Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.
(16) Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.
(17) Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
(18) If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
(19) Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
(20) Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
(21) Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
