Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Ezekiel 24:1-27KJV
(1) Again in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
(2) Son of man, write thee the name of the day, even of this same day: the king of Babylon set himself against Jerusalem this same day.
(3) And utter a parable unto the rebellious house, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Set on a pot, set it on, and also pour water into it:
(4) Gather the pieces thereof into it, even every good piece, the thigh, and the shoulder; fill it with the choice bones.
(5) Take the choice of the flock, and burn also the bones under it, and make it boil well, and let them seethe the bones of it therein.
(6) Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the bloody city, to the pot whose scum is therein, and whose scum is not gone out of it! bring it out piece by piece; let no lot fall upon it.
(7) For her blood is in the midst of her; she set it upon the top of a rock; she poured it not upon the ground, to cover it with dust;
(8) That it might cause fury to come up to take vengeance; I have set her blood upon the top of a rock, that it should not be covered.
(9) Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the bloody city! I will even make the pile for fire great.
(10) Heap on wood, kindle the fire, consume the flesh, and spice it well, and let the bones be burned.
(11) Then set it empty upon the coals thereof, that the brass of it may be hot, and may burn, and that the filthiness of it may be molten in it, that the scum of it may be consumed.
(12) She hath wearied herself with lies, and her great scum went not forth out of her: her scum shall be in the fire.
(13) In thy filthiness is lewdness: because I have purged thee, and thou wast not purged, thou shalt not be purged from thy filthiness any more, till I have caused my fury to rest upon thee.
(14) I the LORD have spoken it: it shall come to pass, and I will do it; I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent; according to thy ways, and according to thy doings, shall they judge thee, saith the Lord GOD.
(15) Also the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
(16) Son of man, behold, I take away from thee the desire of thine eyes with a stroke: yet neither shalt thou mourn nor weep, neither shall thy tears run down.
(17) Forbear to cry, make no mourning for the dead, bind the tire of thine head upon thee, and put on thy shoes upon thy feet, and cover not thy lips, and eat not the bread of men.
(18) So I spake unto the people in the morning: and at even my wife died; and I did in the morning as I was commanded.
(19) And the people said unto me, Wilt thou not tell us what these things are to us, that thou doest so?
(20) Then I answered them, The word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
(21) Speak unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the excellency of your strength, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pitieth; and your sons and your daughters whom ye have left shall fall by the sword.
(22) And ye shall do as I have done: ye shall not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of men.
(23) And your tires shall be upon your heads, and your shoes upon your feet: ye shall not mourn nor weep; but ye shall pine away for your iniquities, and mourn one toward another.
(24) Thus Ezekiel is unto you a sign: according to all that he hath done shall ye do: and when this cometh, ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD.
(25) Also, thou son of man, shall it not be in the day when I take from them their strength, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and that whereupon they set their minds, their sons and their daughters,
(26) That he that escapeth in that day shall come unto thee, to cause thee to hear it with thine ears?
(27) In that day shall thy mouth be opened to him which is escaped, and thou shalt speak, and be no more dumb: and thou shalt be a sign unto them; and they shall know that I am the LORD.

Jerusalem was established on the word of God. Her whoredom at the time of Ezekiel had reached the heights of heaven. As in the days of Noah, God promised not to destroy the whole earth again, but He never promised not to bring destruction upon city or a people because of sin. Jerusalem sin of Idolatry had become so bad it need purging. With all the fine preaching Ezekiel did people would not repent. God told Ezekiel to take a pot and boil good meat and to use the leftover bones from the sheep to burn under the pot. Yet even with all the cooking scum remained. Ezekiel was to pour the scum out onto the fire and burn it. Ash and fat from the pot makes what is known as lye soap. Jerusalem sin would be used to purge Israel children. Jerusalem sin would be used as a cleaning agent for the world. This soap would remain on top of the word of God. Idea would to remove the scum completely or the filth of sin from the world, but without it, guess what one will never know about the consequences of sin. On top of the Old Testament is the New Testament. The crucifying of the Word of God, The word being Jesus the Son of God that came in the flesh. A little deep, but some will get that. Others will only be asking what? Rest assured God’s word remains with the blood of Jerusalem resting on the Old Testament even unto this day.

Ezekiel wife was going to die. God told Ezekiel the pleasure of his eye was going to be removed and He would not mourn. He was to wear his tire around his head. His tire being his fancy hat. He go dressed in style. A symbol to Judah/Israelites they were not to mourn as they left Jerusalem, but to go as if to a party or fancy gathering. One has to remember that the Northern Kingdom and the Southern Kingdom was divide. The southern Kingdom contained Jerusalem. The Northern kingdom would be carried off to, but not yet. All that was seen would be a testimony to her of what was going to befall her. This prophesy was to the Southern Kingdom.

Now all that would befall Jerusalem was being told. The destruction coming swift and no time to properly mourn, instead they would act as nothing happened in one since. Jerusalem believed the lies that nothing would happen, They did not believe Old Ezekiel. The prophesy of the woman/city would be destroyed. In Revelations it talks about the harlot the harlot was Jerusalem at the time of Ezekiel. Harlot was cast out to be purged from sin. She then would be brought back to Jerusalem to be destroyed once more. Christ own life was the perfect Lamb, pure that would pay the price of the world sin. Sin of mankind. He would purge the sin of man. His death representing the destruction of the Word of God and also a symbol of how God can raise His word back up. It not our duty to worry about destruction or resurrection, but to rest in God’s promise he is able to resurrect and to build upon His Word to build on Christ resurrection the hope every believer rest in that is heaven and the return of Christ. A return of faith before the actually appearance in each generation.

Jesus paid the price of the blood of Jerusalem. God hand covers Jerusalem, for the blood sacrifice was killed outside the gate. Outside of Jerusalem. Sin sacrifice can not remain inside the gate. It has to be removed. Christ was buried outside of Jerusalem not within the gate. Jesus rose again outside the gate of Jerusalem, both at the return of Jews to Jerusalem for the rebuilding of the temple and also the time of Christ. Every generation the word of God must be established. Not all will hear and not all will obey. Yet a remnant will remain until Christ return to be rapture up on the day of His return. Let us hold fast to his knowledge that God is still with us through His Word as well as His church, whether purged or not purged it remains. With this knowledge God will purge the filth from His sanctuary and restore His word until the time of Christ return.

Dear Heavenly Father let us not mourn your purging of your sanctuary, but rest in the fullness of who you are and Christ return. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion:Revelation 19:1-9 KJV
(1) And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:
(2) For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.
(3) And again they said, Alleluia. And her smoke rose up for ever and ever.
(4) And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia.
(5) And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great.
(6) And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.
(7) Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
(8) And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.
(9) And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.
