Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Psalms 127:1-5 KJV
(1) A Song of degrees for Solomon. Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.
(2) It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.
(3) Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
(4) As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.
(5) Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.

Is God building your family or are you? What type of heritage or offspring do you have. Do you have a heritage of family being the fruit of your womb or fruit of the Spirit of God. Old Testament declare how important it was to have offspring. Offspring often are a delight to the father and mother, but in truth unless these children become profitable in life as far as achievement or goals that are not always a blessing. If you are one of them children that are not a blessing to your parents, don’t worry about, God can still you use and make you a blessing to others. One has to remember that Bible speaks of many different things and many scenerios and so these passages of family does not always apply to abused, neglected, or people without natural born children. Yet the blessings spoken is only but a metaphor of the blessings God gives his people. Children and offspring are a blessing, but people that care as offspring would or should are equally a blessing from the Lord. If it was not so then many people would be cursed by the Lord today in their earthly heritage.

God does not house or keep a city, then the watchman would be in vain. How ture is unless God builds or creates something then it will not stand and it will not remain. God is building a city of those born of His Word/Son/Spirit. Born of spiritual birth and the offspring of his tended by others to care for and to teach till they grow up and are fruitful. Spiritual birth begins with the simple understanding of salvation. To receive God’s plan of redemption. To believe is all it takes but one still must receive it. Upon receipt one may begin to immediate bare fruit, or fruit over time by His Spirit. Spirit of God convicting and changing the hearts of others through you and your actions. God using you has a vessel to speak to other about him, but His Spirit must still convict the heart of person. We, ourselves can not change a person into something he does not desire to be, something else must change that person course in life. People change because of events, struggles, heart break, blessings, and even open and closed doors in life. Yet the spiritual change the effects a person for life will come by them becoming a new creation in God through Christ Jesus. Understanding Christ died for you makes impact on everyone that believes.

The cross changing the heart of man because of God’s willingness to send His Son to die in our place. We should died for eternity for our sin, but God in his mercy sent his Son to pay the price of eternity of death. A life sentence in the devil home is not one anyone wants. Yet it is a life sentence to the unbeliever without repentance, or even the believer that never receives God’s redemption plan. For even the devil believes and trembles but never makes a change towards God. He even talks to God.

If God is not the author of your home the city that being built around you if it not built by God has no way of standing or remain for eternity. Be better to have fruit of God other then the womb, if one’s children never get saved. Truth is God desires your children to be saved. David had offspring that did not please the Lord. Yet David would have children that would follow his praises as far as faith in the Lord. King Solomon would have children that would be sacrificed to idols destroying the fruit of the womb of his wives and his home. Despite Solomon wisdom he was unable to follow God and His word. The one area in his life became a thorn to his whole kingdom not just to him. This was written for Solomon and I have to ask was it before or after the children were sacrificed to altars not of God.

God sacrifices his children to the world, but He gives them life eternal, because of righteous gained by faith not by anything one is able to do, because in truth God’s kingdom is not built on human achievements, but on God building blocks, he designs. If you ever seen a house hewed out of stone. Each stone is different and yet the mortar is about the same thickness all the way through it. God glues those stones in place for his kingdom, yet as human beings we all are different, with that one link to God through Christ Jesus. In all truth God’s heritage is our heritage for we inherit the kingdom of heaven. Earthly offspring are a blessing, but the fruit from obedience to God is more valuable, for God uses our obedience to testify to others of His mercy and grace.

Dear Heavenly Father I want to thank for your mercy in your grace to the believer. Even when times of unfruitfulness of heritage and wealth. Obedience to you is more important. Help us to obey so that we become stones worthy of our position in your city. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion:1 Corinthians 3:6-11 KJV
(6) I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
(7) So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.
(8) Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.
(9) For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.
(10) According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
(11) For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
