Every Sunday A Psalms: Integrity of A Person
3/15/2015

Daily Devotions:by turtle30c

Psalms 26:1-12 KJV
(1) A Psalm of David. Judge me, O LORD; for I have walked in mine integrity: I have trusted also in the LORD; therefore I shall not slide.
(2) Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart.
(3) For thy lovingkindness is before mine eyes: and I have walked in thy truth.
(4) I have not sat with vain persons, neither will I go in with dissemblers.
(5) I have hated the congregation of evil doers; and will not sit with the wicked.
(6) I will wash mine hands in innocency: so will I compass thine altar, O LORD:
(7) That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works.
(8) LORD, I have loved the habitation of thy house, and the place where thine honour dwelleth.
(9) Gather not my soul with sinners, nor my life with bloody men:
(10) In whose hands is mischief, and their right hand is full of bribes.
(11) But as for me, I will walk in mine integrity: redeem me, and be merciful unto me.
(12) My foot standeth in an even place: in the congregations will I bless the LORD.

An innocent child or innocent person not yet experienced in the ways of the world, and not yet ensnared by at least one trap of the devil in life, has much integrity if their speech is truth. What is truth and innocent but no moral implication of a lying, deception, stealing, murder and so forth, but integrity of living whole and clean and pure not necessarily without some sort of sin, but not a murder of innocent blood, but in battle or protection of another, no robin hood, but protector of the innocent, a friend of those around that bear truth despite the situation, and notable not a thief of another man’s wife. Poor David his one immoral act seems to haunt me as I read his Psalms, thinking perhaps he did not write this at the time of his sin or he felt forgiven to the point his integrity restored. Yet David was self righteous as well as righteous by faith in God. The attitude I fault not at because until you really mess up to the point you fall on your knees in repentance you are truly as innocent as David sounds here in thought and self righteousness. I also wonder if Job could of mimicked David’s own words to the point that he finally could see the error by looking at another action, probably not till a reflection back, or much later.

Think of integrity of woman describe in King Lemuel depiction of the ideal woman written in Proverbs 31. The type of woman a man wants for a wife and a type of man a woman no doubt wants for husband for example Boaz and Ruth, noble character no doubt, but people with experience of heart ache and life. I do speak of David to mock him but to point out how innocent his words are in the begin of this Psalms. Declaring the type of man he is. No one would argue David was a good king even with his failures. He was a man of integrity. Yet the problem arises when he says Lord prove me meaning to test me and try me see if it true. David does not doubt who he is but does not recognize what God will do when he asked God to test him. His words before the fall, but not misguided. No doubt David was still learning growing up into his leadership role. Willing to declare freely the wonder works of God and shun all evil in his life. In truth David heart of innocence or integrity of character before the Lord, had not yet been put through the fire of God.

I rather fall on my face then think of myself innocent as David in this Psalm today, but anyone growing up in the ways of God often have this integrity not yet tested or tried through fire. I was talking to someone one day that said he had never had any trouble in life. All I could think was oh no, do not say that. Please do not, because that is when God will shift you to see if you will stand, knowing you will, but not without His hand. The testimony of those who have gone through the fire or the flood or both can testify to God saving grace. I can say I experience flooding as a teen. We were gone when the basement of my parents home flood covering every step and we lost all that was in the basement. My husband and I had a flew fire in the chimney one winter, and fear for the loss of our home and fortunately did not. Yet to learn to walk by faith without drowning takes practice not always achieved over night. Learn to seek Jesus when you walking on the water like Peter. Feeling the storm all around and sinking only to find your hand about the only thing visible to those around. Then feeling the hand of Jesus reach out and pull you up and steady you in the storm as the waves calm, and the arms of Jesus lifting you in the ark of safety. David had not been tested in everyway yet. Yet he would be.

Testing from the Lord should be done by the Him. He knows our heart and He knows our love for Him. The testing He does do not seek, but even Abraham was tested by God. Shrink not back at the test, but seek the Lord. David had a lot to learn yet, and he had killed lions, bears and the enemy that encamped around him in the night. Hold to the integrity of the Lord. That saving grace that comes through Christ Jesus, that when you slip because of your humanity, you can kneel knowing Jesus still loves you.

Dear Heavenly Father may your grace reign above our own integrity. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
