Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Isaiah 11:1-16 KJV
1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:
2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;
3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:
4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.
5 And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.
6 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.
7 And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den.
9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.
10 And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.
11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.
12 And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.
13 The envy also of Ephraim shall depart, and the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off: Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex Ephraim.
14 But they shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines toward the west; they shall spoil them of the east together: they shall lay their hand upon Edom and Moab; and the children of Ammon shall obey them.
15 And the LORD shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his mighty wind shall he shake his hand over the river, and shall smite it in the seven streams, and make men go over dryshod.
16 And there shall be an highway for the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria; like as it was to Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt.

The remnant of a nation, a people built to be part of the city of God. The remnant a force of people to teach the ways of God and to go forth from that nation to teach the Gospel. Yet the remnant was the repented people of Israel that God sought to restore. Sometimes God's people are taken through the sewer and other times they are taken down through the valleys of the shadow of death. Yet what do believers have to fear but fear itself. One might sleep better having a dog around, but little dogs offer little true protection. There has to be a mightier force to protect people the enemy would love to destory. That protector begins with Jesus both the Son of God and/the word of God. Meaning one has to trust in the valley of death that God's protection is on you. To walk through the enemy one has to be guarded by the angels of God. God is not going to let anything happen in the valley to you that is not for a purpose. Men and women die for faith, but faith continues on. What does God promise the remnant of his people that they will return home, despite the journey they are on into exile.

In Isaiah 11 God sends a message of hope to the Prophet Isaiah. I not one for formal titles, but I working on using them more so people understand that person station of power, trust, and honor. The Prophet Isaiah a man of God a prophet in chapter 11 is proclaiming to Israel that God would recover his people out of exile and on the second swipe of the land He would send an ensign to the people. That ensign spoke their time of exile is over. That the people will come from the four corners of the world. What is the sign a virgin shall be with child. The child coming from the root of Jessie. Freedom under Roman rule is better then enslavement of other tribes of people. It was more of democracy then Assyrian or Egyptian rule.

What is my point this Am. Punishment must come to correct the wickness and evil of Israel, but those with faith the remnant would be strengthen and would return to the promise land. Is that love? What if God allowed them to remain and never getting rid of the evil and wickedness from their land. Let me share what happened with the devil that came in to the life of Adam and Eve, and then left to roam upon the earth bitting the ankles of men. Wickedness increase, evil increase til God sent a flood. The flood a remainder to all tribes and people of sin. The people at the time of Babel wanted to reach God in their own ability and not the way God had provided through prayer. Then God would lead Abraham to the promise land, only to send his children to Egypt in a famine. Where a leader would be born, named Moses, who would teach the people the laws of God. Yet still with these laws, the time of evil would still come. Yet God always seen his remnant full of faith. He would divide the remnant from the non believers through the exile and restore his people.

Hardship can bring about wisdom and strength to a person, it can also destroy a person. How we use hardship depends on the faith in God, for the non believer it reliance on their own strength, with not understand how faith builds it own strength, for God gives rest to the weary in the storms of life. Jonah found sleeping in the bottom of the boat with the stomr raging overhead. Corrie Ten Boom in her struggle during World War II in a concentration camp found the strength relying on Jesus and God by the Holy Spirit. Conditions in the concentration camps were deployerable. Yet she would walk out of the imprisonment of a concentration camp.

What my point it is the love God allows us to see horrible conditions of what is not to be a child of God. The blessings of God's children is eternal life in the kingdom to come through faith in Christ Jesus. The hope of glory a place built not on sin, but the Chief cornerstone of faith. Paradise is coming to God's children who believe and follow after his Son by picking up their cross and following Him.

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to believe in your promise of your Son who came over 2000 years ago, and his story continues on in the lives of the believer. Give us the strength as remnant of the Promise Land to come where your Word reigns for eternity. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Revelation 12:9-12 KJV
9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.
