Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Luke 8:26-40 KJV
26 And they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is over against Galilee.
27 And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs.
28 When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not.
29 (For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.)
30 And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him.
31 And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the deep.
32 And there was there an herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them.
33 Then went the devils out of the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake, and were choked.
34 When they that fed them saw what was done, they fled, and went and told it in the city and in the country.
35 Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
36 They also which saw it told them by what means he that was possessed of the devils was healed.
37 Then the whole multitude of the country of the Gadarenes round about besought him to depart from them; for they were taken with great fear: and he went up into the ship, and returned back again.
38 Now the man out of whom the devils were departed besought him that he might be with him: but Jesus sent him away, saying,
39 Return to thine own house, and shew how great things God hath done unto thee. And he went his way, and published throughout the whole city how great things Jesus had done unto him.
40 And it came to pass, that, when Jesus was returned, the people gladly received him: for they were all waiting for him.

How many people are waiting for Jesus? Today you may of experience a crisis or witnesed a crises and the way a believer in Christ handled their situation amazed you. Did you know it was the work of the Holy Spirit in their life and their willingness to allow the Holy Spirit to work in their life in a crisis or difficult situation? The man from Gadarenes was sitting in his right mind when the village seen him and this cause fear in the village, because this man was possessed by demons before and would even cut himself. The town village had tried to constrain him more then once but he broke his chains. Nothing could keep him from harming himself, and now he sitting talking to man name Jesus. The investigators went and told the village and surrounding areas and they came and told Jesus to leave. They knew not who Jesus was, but knew he had power. Jesus told the man to go back to his village and tell the great things God had done for him. Jesus then returned and he was welcomed into their village to hear about God.

What events has shaken your life, only to know the power of God was within the event that occurred. If you say nothing you might say you are the norm perhaps, but others will claim the power of God worked in their life in difficult times, with God's healing power and in miraculous ways. We all desire miracles but not all are ready to see the truth of miracle nor the response of the author of the miracle being God. Can you receive God still does miracles today, can you still receive that God is still in power today. Jesus was more then a teacher, but in this passage we can see why some think of Jesus only as a prophet, for he tells the man to go back and tell about God had done for him. Jesus though he be Lord, was taking a back seat as he sends the man forth to tell his story of his healing in his life from demons.

To tell how God delivered him, so Jesus could come back and witness about God the Father and who He was and is. The people receive Jesus to come and speak to them. if we never share the gospel and if we never share about God how can miracles glorify the work of God in our lives. How often are we sharing Christ with only the miracle of salvation, how often are we hiding our salvation. Consider today to ask God to teach you to share his word, so you see his blessings in your life more abundantly.

Dear Heavenly Father Father, may your name be glorified and may people know the author of miracles is you. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
