Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Luke 8:1-15 KJV
1 And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him,
2 And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils,
3 And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance.
4 And when much people were gathered together, and were come to him out of every city, he spake by a parable:
5 A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.
6 And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture.
7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it.
8 And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
9 And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be?
10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.
11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.
12 Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.
13 They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.
14 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.
15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

When I was young I lack patience to do any long task or project. It was not that I did not want to see it completed, I wanted done when I wanted it done. Not taking it slow to do it right but finishing it. As I learn to Counted Cross Stitch, the bigger the project the longer it took to finish. Cross stitching for those that do not know is a type of embrodiery, depending size of the design it can take weeks and even months to finish. It is during that time and duration you learn to appreciate the accomplishment of each part of each piece, especially if you take time to do it right to the point of removing errors created by a miss counted stitch. I am the worse for taking time to remove a stitch, I am that way with crochet patterns and such as well, but time I am done, I am pleased with the work I did.

I had a friend that help me once with a project that was suppose to try and save me money. By taking a big shortcut in a project, I soon discover that what was done never looked right and never was right, to the point weather actually caused more damage over time to where more had to be replaced and some removed costing more money then the original project. Short cuts are nice, but the thing is it never holds like glue, or even duck tape.

Ministery is work it takes time to teach scripture, and it can not be learned in a night or a week. A brief synopsis can be told of faith, and even applied but the real glue and tape that holds comes from the word of God growing within someone. A bird flies scattering seed on all types of surfaces, some seed will grow, take root and die. Other seed will spring up for a day but have no root and other see will fall on good soil and bring forth life and their roots grow deep into the soil.

Now if a minister is going to plant seed, he first has to listen to the Holy Spirit, because the wrong seed is not going to take root, nor have the same value as seed just tossed in the wind hoping to land on good soil in which to grow. When God prepares the heart of man the word has the ability to bring forth fruit in the heart of the believer. Often it takes a long time for the root of the word to take time to grow and produce. If you remove a habit in your life, is it over night, only sometimes. If God says this is a no no, does the habit stop, perhaps or does it take time to be planted and grown in the heart where change needs to occur for it to last.

The other day I watching something it caught me by surprise a couple had married and they were both transexuals, in my story line they were faithful to each other. However the couple was of the opposite sex from each other. The odds of finding a couple that connected to each others with opposite gender roles is perhaps rare. Why because what they only declaration is they were not comfortable as being the sex they were born to be, but it did not stop them from being attracted to each other. Both couples went through physical outward appearance change but married each other playing the different role of husband and wife. Now what that allowed was the original man to become femine and the woman to be masculent in traits and gender role. Yet the question occurred were they attracted still to the person of the opposite sex after learning the fact, perhaps, or did they just change gender role. Is the gender role the crime, or is it in scripture the chosing of different sexual partner. In this case their choice turn out ot be opposite sex when they married, but it could of been boy and boy and girl and girl. Had God designed this couple to meet so their roles be swapped, perhaps. Point being God enabled this couple to find each other.

The point I want to make is a revival comes in and impregnates a church with people ready to learn about this God that saved their soul. What happens sometimes is some idiot decides to come and say if you do this or that God is not pleased. Instead of setting down and letting God point out sin himself, our job is only to teach the truth of the word, by explaining what it says. The eunuch riding in a chariot, and Philip comes up to the chariot and hears the words being read out of Isaiah. It is those words that penetrated the heart of the Eunuch about the love of God sending his Son to suffer for man. Philip had climbed up into that chariot not caring this man was Eunuch. His role was only to share the Gospel with him so he could be saved. The man was baptized. Did the fact He was a Eunuch have any bearing on him receiving Christ, not in the least, but this man existed as a Eunuch either by choice, or by enslavement. His title being a Eunuch of the Queen of Candace of Ethiopia.

What is the point when God's word is sown, it is not our place to judge someone, only to be open about the truth of the scripture. Our place is to show love. Is telling someone they disagree with that something they do is a sin, I think not, but it is better to say this is a sin for me personally and according to scripture is why I believe it is sin. Yet scripture says to love in truth. Allow that person time to discover the truth for himself about who God is in his or her own life. A seed planted needs good soil, soil where it grow in love and truth, and deal with issues that the world itself deals with everyday. Did God intend us to make things that would harm us, never, but knives and guns are created. Point is we have to look deep if the word to grow and take root, learning who God is and his nature is more importanted then a list of sin. God convicts and changes a person, not man.

Look at criminal until he receive his action his wrong, he never broke the law but he being punished for it. Until a criminal understands that law is just and good, the breaking of the law is not a crime. God's word when it is sown takes time to penetrate the heart. It better to sow seed correctly into good soil, and it might still not grow because of corrupted seed, but it will grow if it good seed and plenty of water. Every garden grows with love. A revivalist might bring people to their knees preaching on sin, but the labor is telling people weekly about who this God is that caused them to repent. Who this power is that convicts their hearts and brought them to their knees. Sowing in the fertile soil to produce a harvest.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for your grace to plant your seed in good soil by your Spirit right into the heart of man, I can only sow seed into soil that may or may not be a good place to grow, but Lord your seed reach the heart of man, and is planted in fertile soil to grow. Teach each believer to plant by your Spirit, because we are often blind to what we can not see and that is the heart of man. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Acts 8:27-28 KJV
27 And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,
28 Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet.
