Conformed To The Image
6/20/2020

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Romans 8:22-39 KJV
22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.
23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?
25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.
26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.
34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

When you have an emotional or physical taxing week, you know the idea of being conformed to the image of our Savior, meaning to tranformed not just by the renewing of our minds upon salvation, but renewing of our bodies in the resurrection to come as believers. Renewing of a body tranformed into the image of Christ body being incorruptible, but with scars of this world. I looking at my thumb that took a beating the last warm day we had, by the use of a power drill on a piece of steel pipe that got a little to hot and burnt the hide off of my thumb, to top it off it formed a water blister that finished off that skin removal, and wonder why it not quite healed, only to remember the scars of our flesh will mark our journey of this life. When I think of Christ body, Thomas seen the nail scarred hands of Christ after the resurrection. God did not spare his Son from the elements of persecution of Satan power, but he allowed humans to be a witness of this events of these scars, to show us as the world prevails and storms, and things come not only in the world, but also come to the life of everyone born of flesh, meaning we are not exempt from cruelty of this world. God does not promise us there will no scars from this world in our life.

Our justification comes through faith for the promise of eternal life. It is faith that God justifies us through his Son. Who charges God's people, but devil himself. God did not spare his own Son from the charge of Satan, but allow His Son to rise again. He was charged for who He was, but we must remember people understood not who Jesus was. The blinders were on, and when Christ rose again, the blinders came off, for those that believed in God. Why is this important for Christ to suffer, for us to be reminded of the suffering through the cross. It did not change who Christ was. He got up out of that grave as if he been asleep and taking a nap, except for the earthquake that shook, while the angels came down from heaven and rolled away the stone. For this reason we suffer in this world, not delivered from ever ouchy, storm or trouble that comes our way.

It is Christ that makes intercession for us, with the words forgive them Father for they know what they do. I wonder how many times Christ healed the sick, the lame and the blind, only for someone to go and find themselves maimed all over again. To be extra clumsy despite the deliverance. Christ told those he healed go and sin no more. Sin can cause injury, but not always. You can just be in the wrong place at the wrong time of no fault of your own and be hurt or harmed. Innocent by standing in the way of the one causing the pain. It like touching hot pipe and knowing it is hot without thinking and instead of slowing down to remember that pipe will burn. The sin not being attentive to one's own actions. When a person sins, they are not aware, they are not attentive to the consequences of their actions. If a drunk driver hits a person in a car, why is it his fault, why is the crime his responsibility, it simple we can all see that, because in truth if the drunk had not been driving the wreck that caused injury would the wreck have happened making it sin/crime. Our actions of sin is often caused by either ignorance, stupidity, or not keeping oneself under control. Sin itself scars us, but scars are apart of life. Scars also come from being righteous or being right. If I am right and am injured by another then I have sinned, but the one that caused injury. What human is exempt from scars?

What is it to suffer for Christ, it is for sharing the truth, even at the cost of loosing someone we love, loosing some one we care about, being beat up by someone we may or may not know, because truth does something to people. It either causes them to call you a liar or to recognize truth and by doing so they admit they were wrong. Admitting they learn something they knew not, making them human not God who is all knowing.

The Christian perfectionism must be understood as not coming from our fleshly actions but our spiritual faith, Meaning we perfected and justified by faith alone in Christ Jesus and God the Father. We are justified by the Holy Spirit when we believe what He speaks to our hearts and obey His truth despite our own blindness to the situation. Our actions only a testimony of who we desire to be in Christ, and sometimes it take the Holy Spirit to protect us in our human struggle to live godly lives. His warning not heeded, no longer lands us up to be like Cain, but more like David with correction, Cain had punishment of seperation from God and no hope of forgiveness as long as he justified his own actions and had no repentance in his heart for what he did. God marked him so no harm could come to him. Not because he repented not, because he believe God. Devil has a place of eternity without God, that place is a place without the hope of Jesus/word or that hope of life. David a repenting King, knew God's grace and love for him. He knew the hope of faith. He knew the hope of obedience. He knew God loved him. God spirit was directing his spiritual life, but he still failed in his personal life, because he still wrestle against the temptations of this world. The scars of sin remaining etched on his heart as he repented, knowing God had punished him by taking his son. A son he cherish and a kingdom he almost would loose because of his action. The cost great enough to bring David to his knees, and cry out to God.

What can take us from the love of God? Christ being perfect and us being only justified by faith, then what can take us from the love of God? If God is unchanging despite our actions, are we still justified. We are justified through the cross of Jesus, as Christ said forgive them they do not know what they do. We fail the word of God, but do we fail because we desire sin, or because of our humanity and/or unbeleif. It only takes faith to be redeemed, but our actions and attitudes towards God and his love changes who we are to become more like Christ and say Father forgive me for my stupidity, for not listening and obeying truth of your Spirit, thus admitting guilt of sin. Admitting I need of Christ and God the Father's forgiveness because of one's actions not tempered yet by the Spirit of God. By doing so we are saved by faith and not by works. We are saved by faith not because our own righteousness or non righteousness, but saved by grace, a grace we can not be separated from once believed, if we continued with a humble heart of knowing our need of a Savior, to say God forgive us because we truly do not know what we do. Or even understand our actions, enable us to be discipline by your word, corrected by your grace, and saved by your grace, not by our own ability to save ourselves, for we can not save ourselves from your wrath of total destruction.

Dear Heavenly Father as we wait for the total transformation that you have prepared for us in the resurrection, enable us to rest in your grace, knowing the scars of this life, teaches us and molds us into your children of faith, because of your grace. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Romans 5:1-11 KJV
1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

1 John 1:6-10 KJV
6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
