Be Still And Know God
6/13/2020

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Psalm 46:1-11 KJV
1 To the chief Musician for the sons of Korah, A Song upon Alamoth. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.
4 There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.
5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.
6 The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.
7 The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
8 Come, behold the works of the LORD, what desolations he hath made in the earth.
9 He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.
10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
11 The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

Have you ever gone through time of struggle, ever afraid not knowing if all will work out, have you felt the wave of a storm, either literally or spiritually felt like you been toss to and fro? Have you felt the havoac of chaos in your life? Have you ever seen a total loss of destruction like a fire, or a boulder run through a house, or a tornado fierce destruction, or the sea swallow the land and remove what is upon it? Some of us has only seen God's fury from a distance, and other have seen God wage war with the heathens on the firing line. Every soldier that enters into battle know there either be a day of eternal home, or a day of going home to their earthly home. Their fate unknown when drawing into battle. Their fate uncertain on the frontline of chaos and war. Both sides looking similiar unless you know your team mates you do not know who the enemy is. Sometimes the enemy is within. Yet all in all, there comes a time after any storm or war where peace can be found.

Can you be still still and know God? Can you be still and know all you seen on the battleline of faith, war, storms, and destruction, that God is still who He claims to be. Can you be still and know God is still the creator of all things. Can you be still and still praise God in your heart? Can you be still and recognize the power of God was in your mist, during the chaos of the storm, the battle and the destruction of what would not be changed.

As a man faced suffocation did anyone say cop you gone to far or were they only camera happy. We live in an age where crime happens, but no one wants to help the victim til the crime is done and finished, by giving of the film, or a pat on the back if the victim survive. Have we become like little gods in the face of evil, only watching as if a film is being played out. Where are the rescuers of the perishing and the care for the dying, stuck behind the camera and stuck in shock of what they are seeing. It is fine in movies but not in the world of normal calm folks. It like knowing a child is going to get hurt but never saying stop, do not do that, watch out, or reaching out to hope to stop the impact of the injury.

Now in police brutality most do not know the whole story, and in this case it may of worked out for the camera person of actually catching a cold hard murder. Yet other times people are not so lucky. Sometimes you have to just allow cops to do what they do, and not worry about what you see. Other times you get to throw the softball right at them and prove they committed a crime, when the ball bat swings with the truth of a hard hit to the right field, for he not going home even through he hit the ball. Meaning evidence on tape back the evidence gather by the cops that investigate the police brutality and the other cops were around found out by playing by cop rules got them all in jail for not prevent brutatality of the one being arrested.

Court then is over the the war is done, but guess who still paying the price, the family after the destruction of a loved one. That being said can one be still and see God is still on the throne. The chaos in the heart slowly calming as the memories fade, no as they realization nothing more can exalt true injustice of a situation, and life must return to normal in order to survive. Did God change his position as events of life occurred. No the reality of the truth as events occur in life no matter how horrible to a person, it does not change who God is. To be still and know God is still on his throne, and still real, and still in charge, is to be able to rest in his presence, knowing God's reasoning has a purpose.

There things in my own life that I have witness or had heard by my own ears as they happen, that have left more of impact on me personally then could be understood by second hand knowledge of other stories seen in rerun of other events. We all hear of destruction, we all see destruction by media sources but until we experience these destructions, we only know how it feels in short segments of life events. Ever been in a car wreck, you know what is to displace your car, ever have your house caught on fire, you know the inconvience of either your house destroyed or in desperate need of expensive repair. Ever have refrigator go out and can not replace it and have to figure away to have refrigation for may months if not a year. As my husband and I plan to go camping, I began to think on how inconvience it is to be without a refrigator. Husband and I went with out a refrige once for several months and even with a deep freezer storing ice was a nuisance after a few months. When I finally got a refrige, I truly felt like hugging it. No one realize the moment you no longer have to fight to keep refrigation going, you can rest and not worry if ice needs to be put in, or if water is frozen. Camping helps reminds me of the need of protection of food in a cooler or a small refrige. I even examined how some coolers are made and their insulation matterial inside is not as good, causing food spoilage. Then I began to think of disasters where more then one person is effected and the need for much refrigation, or food spoilage will occurs. And I wonder why is there not a refrigator with solar panels on it already made. Yet that may not even be feasible, but it would help situations become less taxing in environments where power shortage is a problem. If there is power shortage, geneators are only as good as the gas products to keep a generator going. The continue efforts of chores that been foreign to many generations for decades are now in vogue in a disaster. There no time to rest after the storm, only work to be done. Yet sooner or later this work ceases to as things go back to normal and everyday life reoccurs. The point being rest does come but it not always come immediate after the initial impact of a storm.

There is a point of reflection and a time of rest when destruction is no longer in front of a person, the crisis now over and is your relationship with God still the same. Do you still believe in God. Did God send his rescue efforts in to help save you. How long did you wait, Eight months before I got a refrige, only took a few days to replace a vehicle temporarily. A repair to a chimney fire took a weekend. And let see healing from chronice pain from a wreck, took 14 years before God's deliverance and not man's deliverance. Yet other things perhaps more instant from God then 14 years. Why is there suffering, is God still your God? Is God still on your throne in your life? Has God changed position in your life? Get a note pad and write your horror story down and be still for a moment and ask Is God still on the throne in your life if you are a believer? If He is, ask how has your faith been stretch during difficult times?

David a warrior had gone through the heat of battle to only enter into rest and to be still long enough to know God's position in his life had not changed, nor had God been moved. David's God was still still his refuge and strength in times of trouble. In Hebrews it speaks also of a time of rest. That God spoke of on day seven a time of rest, after creating for six days. Now if you think of how fast a whirl wind of creation took place in six days, it faster then a six day vacation only with the ability to come home rest for the seventh and go back to work. God intent of rest for all of us, is when we beleive in God and His Son and we rest in his embrace, knowing he is in charge and still on the throne. Christ did not speak of a day of rest, for his work and word still went forth, but he did enter rest as his body laid in the grave, he rested and arose to victory. He did not speak of a day after, but he told of a resurrection. He did not speak of a day of rest, because the word of God still went forth. The day after came after the day of rest and he rose up and continued the Gospel message of faith to all that would beleive in him would not perish but have everlasting life. God rested, but belief began when Adam and Eve fell in the garden of Eden. Had God left the serpent in charge on the day of rest. I do not know, but I do know God came looking for Adam and Eve. I know Christ did not speak of a day of rest. Did God ever take another vacation, I serious doubt God did. Not because he could not, but because the minute the devil does not think God is around, the devils of this world tries to control. God is on the throne and the victory is his for the date and time he chooses. He sees all the devil does and knows how to make him fall before he can plan his actions of destruction.

Has your relationship changed with God? Consider this what was God's position before the crisis and where is Christ in your life now? What position does he hold in your life, after the mayhem and harsh roads in life? If God is still on the throne of your life, is it because you trusted in Him to help you and He did? Ask yourself what changed your life to trust in God?

Dear Heavenly Father, remind us to be still after the chaos of storms and destruction long enough to remember your still on the throne, you still in control and the reason you are moving in our life. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Hebrews 4:1-11 KJV
1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
5 And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.
6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:
7 Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
