Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

2 Samuel 22:29-38 KJV
29 For thou art my lamp, O LORD: and the LORD will lighten my darkness.
30 For by thee I have run through a troop: by my God have I leaped over a wall.
31 As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.
32 For who is God, save the LORD? and who is a rock, save our God?
33 God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect.
34 He maketh my feet like hinds' feet: and setteth me upon my high places.
35 He teacheth my hands to war; so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.
36 Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy gentleness hath made me great.
37 Thou hast enlarged my steps under me; so that my feet did not slip.
38 I have pursued mine enemies, and destroyed them; and turned not again until I had consumed them.

God's training is to learn first follow his light. When in school we may of played followed the leader, or Simon Sez, and in order to win one had to do what the leader said. To loose is fall out of step with the leader and fail to complete Simon Sez instruction. However in the adult world Simple Simon Sez game or follow the leader only helps if following basic work instructions, or task that need completed by following the instructions. Sometimes it is better to have a road map in life then a map of place with no lines drawn on how to get there. If you follow a map with no roads, you do not know what may lay ahead in the journey, but you travel a road with maps and symbols of mountains, bridges and different type of roads from gravel to pavement on that map, you know exactly what you be dealing with unless disaster hits. The way is more outlined except for the hazards that can occur when following the correct pathway. Given an instruction booklet to put a ceiling fan up, it may go up right or it may become a nightmare, if you leave the instruction book out.

God in his wisdom gives us instruction on the pathway we should go. David seen the Lord as his lamp and his light in darkness. He had run through a troop and even jump over a wall, out of harms way. David felt God's word was perfect, and seen him as a buckler to those that put their trust in him. David recognize the power of God in his life and the handiwork of God for creating him to be quick and nimble on his feet for battle and to climb mountains. God taught him how to fight with his hands so a bow of steel is broken by his arms. Steel is something hard to break if it is true steel.

God will provide the equipment and tools to do his will, not ask us to build without a hammer. He does not tell us to make bricks without providing straw. If God called has called you and me, then he will enable his people for the task. David was enabled as a lad tending his father sheep to fight in battle with sling shot, ax and knife. He knew how to use weapons God provided. And now God had given David more equipment to fight with called full armor of war and full armor of God. God was calling to be a warrior king.

The armor God is salvation, and gifts of the Spirit like gentleness comes from God, and is seen by others that know they themselves may not of had the peace and joy to endure what we went through, enabling to someone to recognize God's power in a believer's life. God widens are pathway so we do not fall off the path. David has a military man would fight and not quit until his men consumed the enemy.

As believer in Christ how do we fight the enemy called Satan. You and I can not but the word of God will destroy the enemy called Satan. First of all a believer must remember who is the warrior King to return is and His name is Jesus, and two remember it not a war of armor, but a war of spiritual portions that we can only imagine at this point in time. Then what do we do right now, we work on living at peace, for when Christ returns there is peace for those that believe and for those that are lost it will be a time of God's revenge.

Our first call as believers in Christ is to remember who is on the throne of our hearts and recognize his authority in our life. The second is to use the tools called the armor of God so we can stand. The first by guarding our privated parts with truth and the breastplate of righteousness, Wearing protective foot wear so we do not stumble when the pathway becomes narrow and rocky, Putting on the salvation of Christ on our feet and follow his pathway in peace, and taking on the shield of faith that quenches the enemy fiery darts of the wicked. And protect your head with salvation and sword of the Spirit which is the word of God. By doing all this you learn to fight the good fight of faith, with truth and righteousness.

David knew what it was to carry God's armor and to carry the armor of physical battle. Physical battle with weapons of steel and weapons of faith. He would claim God power in battle and would win triumphed, but his power also caused his normal enemies to lay their sword aside and join David in battle. He was not only a good communicator, but trust worthy. Trust worthy enough that those that seen David's power also knew their protection of a warrior king. Christ in battle came peacefully, without weapons of military maneuver but weapons of faith, and healing. Weapon of cleansing the soul with His words to defeat those in option to him. On the day he was crucified it seemed he gave up all his weapons of war til he cried out Father forgive them. The most powerful tool Christ used was forgive them Father for they know not what they do. Christ power of resurrection alone caused grown men to cry he must of been the Son of God.

Those we go against in spiritual warfare of faith, needs to know we are God's child, marked and sealed by His Spirit, not destructable for the earthly grave, but we have the hope of eternal life from that grave that they have not. That the hope we hope to give is eternal life through faith in Christ Jesus. Allowing others to see our hope and our ability to be overcomers in life. Not beaten by the enemy but standing tall in battle. Allowing Christ in our weakness to shine forth through his word working in our daily life. David knew what was to have God's word of victory to work in his life. When he found himself almost defeated at the end of his life, he found the hope renewed as he held to his faith in God, for God was doing a work on his heart because of sin. Sometimes our battles have to do with sin and other times our battles have to do with our on going trust in God's deliverance to trust in his ability to handle the battle of sharing his word, using us as part of his team.

Dear Heavenly Father, make us strong like David and light our path with your light, let your light of your word shine forth in our life, so we can see your goodness and grace. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Ephesians 6:11-20 KJV
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
